I got a very mediocre massage here. It felt more like a rub down, since it was so light. I asked if she could do heavier pressure and she said I would have to pay extra. I had already gotten the extra spa scalp treatment and she really just squirted oil and roughly rubbed it into my head. It was not a scalp massage. I love a good day spa but this one is hard to stay for the whole day. The pool is located outside the spa and they do not have a hot cup. They do have a steam room and a sauna, 2 lounge areas (one just for women and they other is for all genders) and a zero gravity chair relaxation room. I got a massage treatment which was okay. The add ons treatments are not worth it. I only say that because if you have a 50 min massage and you get a collagen face mask and a foot scrub, 20 mins of your 50 min massage are on your treatments. Your time doesnt get adjusted to include the add-ons which I dont like since the price is already high. Overall we had excellent service! The spa was very clean and full of your basic necessities should you forget them at home (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair spray, mouth wash, hair brush, combs, disposable razors, and hair dryer). They also have a "quiet" area designated for those that want to take a nap or relax, and a "loud" area for chatting. Amenities: Be sure to check out the outdoor pool after your spa day! I purchased a Groupon to take my daughter for a spa day to celebrate her 40th birthday. We each had facials and wanted to spend the rest of our time relaxing and enjoying the amenities. The positives: nice ambiance, courteous staff, adequate ( but not exceptional) facial treatments. The cost for the two of us was 288.00 including 70.00 required gratuity. This is within the range of what I normally spend for a facial treatment when figuring the per person cost. The price without a Groupon would have been 350.00 + gratuity =425.00. ‍‍ Before you go, you should know: when I made the appointment, they asked if it was a special occasion and I told them it was my daughter's 40th birthday. I was told they would recognize that in some fashion. Nothing was mentioned at the time of our appointment. The Groupon specifically stated champagne, however it was never offered until we asked them for it. The description of the amenities includes an outdoor pool. We wanted to spend some time relaxing poolside before our treatments. The outdoor pool is located on the other side of the property from the spa. Be prepared for a long hike if you want to use the outdoor pool. If you choose to use it, understand it is a standard hotel pool. There are no poolside servers to take drink or lunch orders. Finally, and it's a minor thing, but there is a " slumber " room that has zero gravity loungers in a quiet spa-like atmosphere. It's a great place to relax after a treatment. Unfortunately, the loungers ALL make the most obnoxious racket when people get into them or out of them, which is constant, so no relaxing there. Bottom line I would not book there again. read more

The hotel property housing this spa is huge. Park in the spa parking lot or be prepared to spend 15mins finding the spa if you come in the main entrance. This is a large resort with not much signage to direct you. When I arrived at Relache front desk staff took my name, said I could grab a robe if I liked (I declined since I was just here for makeup and a pedi) showed me a lounge area and I didn't hear from staff again for over 30mins. I got concerned around 2:20pm and went to the front desk to inquire and was told the previous appointment was running long. Glad I asked as I don't think I would have been told anything if I didn't approach them. My makeup appointment was educational and the artist was personable. I wasn't a fan of the final colors used (likely my fault, Im a novice) but her technique was more what I was there for. My pedicure was pretty standard, my favorite part was likely the massage chairs. Overall, I have experienced better spa appointments. We stayed at the Gaylord for a night just to relax and get away for a little bit. It was a busy weekend with kids everywhere and the pools were super busy so my husband and I decided to book a mani pedi instead. Our appointment was at 9, his a gentleman's pedi and mine was for a mani/pedi. We called at 9 to let them know we're running a bit late. Note: Do Not go in late for an appointment, they will treat you very poorly. My husband was rushed to his pedi chair and the lady that was helping me asked what I wanted the most done because we might not have time. I told her the mani and we can forego the pedicure. She did my nails super fast, didn't soak them like it said on the description, did a very fast cuticle clean which left my cuticles looking worst than before we started and the polish looks sloppy. I was having to clean it up afterwards. She didn't massage my hands or apply lotion afterwards. She rushed me to the pedicure chair and literally spent 5 minutes. Now, I have been to many local places that's not labeled a spa, paid anywhere from $30-70 for a manicure and $40-90 for a pedicure. My last manicure before this was $30 for a gel polish and she did everything she was supposed to do with people waiting and a much better job than I received from this place. We went to pay and they automatically added in a 20% gratuity for a grand total of $240.00 for the worst mani/pedi experience. Same for my husband, he's been going with me to get a pedicure and although he didn't hate it, he still said it wasn't worth the $80. We spent a Saturday here for massage, facial, pedicure, and manicure. The front desk had us wait instead of asking the person on the phone to hold. This thoroughly irritated me because it ran into my massage time. Be sure to arrive early, otherwise you'll lose minutes with your massage! I enjoyed my massage and facial, I felt very relaxed and the products all get very nice. We did a couples deep tissue massage and seasonal facial- they used local organic products. We gave ourselves an hour gap between the massage and facial to enjoy the sauna and steam room. The pedicure and manicure were average. I would pass on the manicure, they did a pretty bad job and I took of my nailpolish after three days. It had a bunch of tiny air bubbles and it drop me nuts. The sauna and steam room were at limited capacity and they did not have the usual snacks in the sitting area. The spa part of it was fine I enjoyed the steam room sauna and lounge but Worst massage ever. I signed up with Rebeca out front for the calming massage with aroma therapy. There was no aromatherapy introduced throughout entire spa up until the very end when she had me smell something. The massage itself was not calming nor relaxing. The technician, her name started with an M, simply poured lots of oil on me pounded it in. Did not work arms hands calves nor feet Or very very little that I can't even remember. She focused on the back and neck a lot to the point of I was quite uncomfortable. Towards the end as I laid on my back she shoved her hands and knuckles up under my neck causing almost a whiplash affect as she force my back and neck up and off the table multiple times. I honestly was at a point where I was like just in this thing please. And for all of this I got to have an automatic 20% added to my bill. Wow!!! Oh and on top of all this, the technician had the sniffles with an occasional cough, this coming off of Covid so that wasn't relaxing either. Service performed on June 20 2022. Such a disappointment. My sister had booked us for massages today back on December 12. This is the 3rd time we have been to this spa. We showed up at 9:15 this morning and were not checked in , they just took our names and brought to the back. When it came time for our appointments, we discovered they had booked one of us with a male masseuse. My sister absolutely booked us with females because this is not her first rodeo. We have had massages at many Marriott resorts from California to Cancun, Cabo, the Bahamas and Florida. Always with females. Since they only had a male available and the spa was fully booked all day we could not have our massage. We look forward to our visits to the Gaylord Texan spa because we love the slumber room and our massages in the past have been on point. They told us all they could do for us was a 25 minute massage but we usually do the hour and a half and although we could only book 50 minutes, 25 minutes is not really worth it. The manager was rude. I really do expect more. Honestly because they did not check us in properly and CONFIRM what we were having done, there was no time to adjust. A properly run spa makes sure everything is correct at check in. They would have discovered that the gentleman who took my sister's booking made a mistake and they could have fixed it before we had a problem. By not doing what they should have from the beginning, we had a very unpleasant experience. I do expect more from any hotel under the Marriott umbrella, Relache Spa needs to do better. I booked a relaxing aromatherapy massage so did not expect my therapist to carry a conversation. I kept my answers kind but short - and she kept asking me questions trying to engage in conversation. She eventually began to - completely unprovoked - share anti-vax rhetoric and personal reasons for leaving her nursing job. This is so inappropriate in any setting where you have just met someone, let alone a setting in which I am paying so much for a relaxing massage. She then again shared her feeling on masks, control, and the government. This is a polarizing topic and so inappropriate for massage tables. When I admitted I was vaccinated, she asked me if I had any side effects - again so inappropriate for a masseuse to ask her client that she has just met. I was besides myself. I had an incredibly hard time relaxing and felt like she made a feeble attempt to massage me after learning I didn't have the same beliefs as her. I am incredibly disappointed by your staff. Gorgeous place! Walk inside and the smell is so wonderful! Need to find out what that smell is. Ahead is the lounge area where the trashy women are sitting around talking loudly because they've never been to a spa before and think it's their living room. The employees do nothing to curb the loud talkers. To one side are the showers, lockers, sauna and restrooms. The other side will lead you to the treatment rooms and a co-ed lounge area. EXPENSIVE! A basic 50 minute massage will set you back a minimum of $140, pedi $75 and up. The 50 min massage I had was good, no better or worse than average. The 50 min facial person didnt do any extractions which I found very odd after having multiple facials throughout the years. People at desk (front of spa desk - not the retail front) were all sitting around talking and don't want to be bothered with your requests of a beverage, which is part of their job and something you can't get yourself. You're clearly interrupting and bugging if, God forbid, you want something. Unless you can come here on a weekday (Friday not included) so you can avoid the trash, it's not worth the $$. read more

I never in a million years would have thought that a hotel spa would sell trash. I was so surprised to find that this one does. After looking through their store selection I grabbed a few scrubs, washes, and a face mask which happened to be on sale. When we got back to the room the face mask was visibly used. I took it back and the staff said that they make the mask in house and stir in a "fragrance" which is why there were finger prints in the jar. The problem with this is that the mask is not even their brand so the probability of that is almost 0. They would not issue a refund or a replacement and instead lied to my face. The amenities here are great! If you want to enjoy your time before and after your service, you'll be thrilled. Don't bother trying to get a facial and scalp scrub though. I saw Andrea yesterday and a 5 year old may as well have been assigned to me. What did we accomplish besides cleansing my face, opening a prepackaged face mask I can purchase on my own, and tangling my hair with peppermint oil? Nothing. She did zero assessment of my routine, goals, or products currently in use. I had to work into the conversation that I have an infant but no questions about anything related to changes with that either. I am accustomed to my pores being examined pretty closely during facials because isn't that the whole point? I kid you not when I say she looked at my face for all of 20 seconds maybe. She scraped the sides of my nose quickly and moved on. At one point she put something on and said it needed to stay for 3 minutes and then immediately wiped it off. I left the room feeling like I should have skipped this and just gone to the slumber room as that would have accomplished more. It was painful to pay an automatic 20% gratuity when I felt like my esthetician clearly didn't want to be there, but I wasn't going to fight it as I just wanted to leave. I came to the Relache Spa as part of a bachelorette weekend, with each girl being able to pick a service. As a positive, the inside of the spa is very calm and peaceful and I especially liked their quiet room - basically a dimmed room with lounges where you can relax after your services. Why the negative? My service was the $130 Ultimate Indulgence Pedicure. I've been to many spas in the Austin area and never had a pedicure experience close to this. To begin, the pedicure is in the salon, away from the relaxing spa atmosphere. When I showed up, there were 2 hairdryers going for ladies getting their hair done and continue for half my pedicure. Not very soothing. Plus, when I was seated, I was never offered anything to drink. Halfway through, I asked and got a bottle of water offered. Now, if I was at a cheap, $30 strip mall place, I understand. However, $130 is a lot of money!!! With the name "Ultimate Indulgence" I expect a little pampering. To close out, the tech doing the procedure could not have been more mechanical....not checking in, asking how I was, etc. Basically, she acted like she was doing me a favor by even being there. This is a fantastic spa. Beautiful and staffed with very experienced massage therapists. After checking in they lead you to the locker room where they give you a robe and slippers. You are given some infused water and led to a comfy waiting room. Your therapist will greet you and invites you to one of their massage suites. The therapist uses light and medium tension to eliminate pain from sore muscles. They are experts here and after your massage you can enjoy a cup of infused water or tea in the waiting room. You can then take a shower and get dressed. Items for grooming are also available. Next Im in Dallas I will be getting another fantastic massage. read more

Techniques that I've never experienced and that's saying a lot since getting massages is the only reason I take vacations, have birthdays and celebrate the new year lol. She was definitely well trained and I was impressed. If I lived closer she'd see me on a monthly basis. I had the pro collagen signature facial and my esthetician was Bernadette. The lady (older lady with very short blonde hair) was rude and a little disrespectful. I can be a little ticklish at times and she made a remark asking if I even wanted her to touch me (which I hadn't even pulled away or anything). I'm not sure if she just didn't want to deal with me because I look younger or if she just hates her life. But for the price, it wasn't worth it for her attitude and mediocre at best massage. Entering into a relaxed atmosphere, and guided through the spa being shown the luxuries that awaited my visit. Was met by Robert, who guided my day. Robert was very attentive, and made sure I would enjoy my stay. The massage was upgraded with essential oil and aroma therapy, she masseuse paid special attention to a weaken shoulder and back and brought me back to a better day. The massage left me extremely relaxed and comfortable. At some point this soaking up the atmosphere, I dosed off and was left to my own relaxation. The spa was perfect way to get centered and start a hectic and busy week. Not sure how else to complement the spa and staff. The only concern for the staff was, an automatic tip was generated and billed charged without any option to add additional gratitude. I was at the Gaylord for an event and got an email giving me 10% off a spa service during my stay. Definitely good marketing! I took advantage of the discount and booked a deep tissue massage. The spa is very nice. It was actually very quiet when I was there and I practically had the place to myself. I was shown to a locker to change into my robe and sandals. The lady explained the spa and where everything was - bathrooms, showers, sauna, etc. After I got changed, I hung out in one of the relaxation rooms. It was very nice and peaceful. I guess there is a co-ed lounge too if you are with someone of the opposite sex. Then after a bit, my therapist came and got me. My massage was great. The therapist explained what she would be doing and asked lots of questions to make sure I was comfortable. And she checked in several times to make sure the pressure was okay since it was a deep tissue massage. She did a very good job and really worked on my tough spots. Afterwards, I took a shower which was nice. The showerhead needed to be cleaned (water shooting all different directions) but otherwise was nice. I took advantage of the spa toiletries (hair gel, deodorant, etc.). Hotel spas are always pricier than other places so the cost was in range of what I expected but the 10% off was helpful. I paid a lot of money for what supposed to be 50 mins dream catcher massage. What did I get? less than 50 mins of lotion rub with zero pressure. This was the most disappointing massages I've ever had. My therapist Nellie ,from Sweden, picked me up from the spa lounge 5 minutes after my scheduled treatment time. By the time I signed the form she had and we started the treatment it was already 10 mins after treatment time. However, we still finished the 50 minutes massage on time (started 3:10 and finished at 3:50). So I paid for 10 mins that I did not really get anything out of. I asked Nellie to focus on my back and shoulders. However, those areas got the least time of the treatment . Moreover, there was no pressure applied on my body during the whole treatment. When I asked Nellie to increase the pressure, she said that I needed to pay extra for that. Seriously? I needed to pay extra to get a massage when I already paid for one?! I'm already paying a lot of money and got nothing other than a lotion rub. I wanted to like this spa as they have nice facilities but they need to have better therapists. Very nice. Has two spacious locker rooms for both genders, including a relaxation room,slumber room with blankets, sauna and steam rooms, showers, and lockers. A nice attendant will assist you in the locker area. After you check in for your service they have light snacks in the co ed lounge and flavored water. You get into the softest robe and relax before and after your service. Their massages and facials are heavenly. I recommend the hot stone massage or the island ritual massage if they still offer it. All of their service providers I've had our great and very professional. They also offer nail and hair services, which I've had both and was very impressed. Their pedicures are my favorite, and each hair stylist is highly trained and super friendly. Front desk is very helpful and the management is also very nice. I get such a kick of saying, "HEY MAN - RELACHE" OK, let me chuckle to myself before I can continue writing. (pause) I can continue now - this is what the Relache Spa does to me! Puts me a in a great, jovial, mood where nothing really seems to matter except for my own punny jokes. In my misspent youth, I may or may not have sought this experience from substances (legal ones, I assure you) . . . but now in my newfound maturity, it's off to the spa I go to tune in and tune out. If you look at my previous posts - you will see I am a big fan of the English speaking spa technician. Call me crazy, but I really enjoy speaking in my mother language, and especially having this option with people who hold and operate electronic drills and sharp objects. In my never ending quest to find a good salon, the next criteria I enjoy from spa technicians is a smile. I take both of these (an ability to speak English and a smile) as a fairly good indication that these individuals are probably compensated more nicely than their counterparts on the corner of Your Street USA. And you know what? Shiny happy English speaking people will make my nails, feet, and face look shiny and happy. In this case - you absolutely get what you pay for - and that includes an actual attentiveness to your desires. I'll easily pay the extra premium per service if it means I can ask my tech nicely - "C'mon lady, do you really think I need a lip wax, or are you just trying to make your quota? Level with me here." This was my first experience at Relâche, the Spa at the Gaylord Texan, and I decided to try Shiatsu. It was WONDERFUL! Mellie, spent time describing the Japanese healing technique and learning about my specific issues. My mind went from "Ouch, please stop!" to "Wow, that's amazing!" Yes, pain is involved but it's one of those "Oh, that hurts so good!!" experiences. I'm hooked and cannot wait to find an Austin massage therapist who can duplicate this work. A few comments on the Spa. It is spacious and beautiful with a variety of sitting rooms and numerous amenities. Everyone is provided with a locker and offered hot tea or water. I love the simple, comfortable décor. Unfortunately, I was not told about the Sun Room, Steam Room or other options that I could have enjoyed FREE of charge after or before my treatment. I love relaxation where cell phones are not allowed, where there is a quiet, smell good waiting room, an oversized locker to put my things in, a robe/slippers waiting for me and the option to space out in a sauna before/after my massage.....Sooooo many places assume that b/c they have a massage therapist on staff, they are also offering a "spa experience". In most cases, it's a loud salon where you sit in a waiting room with the same gals who are there for a bang cut. I want to SLOW down, be forced into quiet and then receive a very good massage by a well trained person who understands the body and muscles and tension. And I got that at Relache. First, I received a 50 minute deep tissue where I got worked out by Carlos. HOLY cow. I loved it. Felt so good and nearly fell asleep ....I was in a lot of pain due to a back issue and he really assisted. It also went a bit long I think but was worth it since I got a special head massage with coconut oil to moisturize my scalp and concentrate on my headache. Soooo good. Thinking about it now almost relaxes me. From there, they allowed us to wait for our next treatment in a fantastically relaxing area with fruit water where the couches and chairs were soft, welcoming and cozy. So nice, since there were four of us there together. We could talk together and be fully in the moment, since NO phones allowed! Then we went on to our pedi, which was more of a salon area, where they offered us wine, soaked our feet and we were able to all sit together and chat. It was truly fabulous. The pedi was awesome with a long soak, great polish options and lovely foot massage. I'd do it again! Since we were there for CAbi, we got 20% off our services, but I honestly would pay full price. It is a great spa!! They should be proud of the experience they are offering their clients. It was easy to book and adjust the reservation. I was able to at the last minute add two additional girls to our appointment and they were kind, friendly, and absolutely wonderful to deal with. read more

I am a spa girl. I love spas. I tend to like everything from checking in, to getting escorted to the women's area, to getting my locker key, putting on the robe and my spa slippers, and then waiting in the waiting lounge area in my robe curled up on a sofa or chair, drinking wine, chatting and reading gossip magazines. In terms of the above, this place delivered and did it well. But aside from that, everything was about average, maybe even a little less. The layout was weird, first off. From the locker area, it opened right up into the lounge area, so if you are lounging you can hear the people changing and even catch a glimpse of them. Why not put a wall up or something to separate them so that once you are changed you don't have to see others changing or hear them getting ready? Same thing for the shower and other areas, it was almost all too open. I like to, when resting and relaxing feel removed from all the other people that maybe are in different stages in the spa experience. Maybe while I'm relaxing I don't necessarily want to hear people blow drying their hair, or exclaiming about how hot the sauna was. Oh and then there were my treatments. They were good for everyone in the group, so I must have chosen the wrong things. My biggest gripe was that I booked a Brazilian bikini wax and instead I got a regular wax. The girl didn't do them. Then why did they assign me to her? At this point there were no other estiticians free so I was saddened to say I didn't get the wax I wanted. Then my eyebrows came out though, clean, nothing spectacular, and they actually were uneven too. So I had to have her fix it up a little. Overall I enjoyed the ambiance and energy but the layout could use some work to ensure that once a client is in that zen mind, it can stay that way. And my treatments in particular were a bit of a let down. But again, everyone else I was with enjoyed themselves immensely. So take it with a grain of salt. read more

Contrary to the previous reviewer "I am not a spa girl". I do not "love spas" but I had a wonderful experience here. I had the Aromafloria Pedicure. The smell of Honey Papaya filled my nose as the massage therapist exfoliated my feet with a sugar scrub. Warm towels were draped over my feet before warm whipped body butter was massaged into my feet and lower legs... AHHH.............. read more

This is my favorite spa of all-time, and I've been to my share. From all around Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio & Lake Granbury, to California, Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, Caribbean islands, and cruises, you name it, I'm a spa snob. I might also confess that I'm a massage therapist, so maybe I see spas from a different viewpoint, but Relache offers me everything I've ever hoped for in a spa. In reading some of the other reviews, maybe I've just always gotten lucky on when I go, or maybe I slip into my own world, because I've never felt that the flow of this spa is done poorly. I can see what others are saying about one room leading into the next, but I've never not been able to walk through those double privacy doors to find myself exhale a massive sigh of relief to be swaddled in such comfort. And I'll never forget my first time there; I remember hearing in my head, "oohhh...I need to work here!" Then as I progressed from one room to the next on my tour and eventually into my hot stone session I realized I could never work here because it would ruin any possible chance that I would enjoy it as a client! Every spa does their hot stone massages slightly different; some only massage with the stones, some begin clients face down & place stones on the back for deep muscle penetration, and some start clients face up with stones on the table for clients to rest on, also giving that deep muscle penetration. The Relache seems to incorporate all three techniques and I couldn't have enjoyed it more! The hot stone is my absolute go-to massage and I will upgrade any gift certificate to a hot stone without question, just so I can get that deep muscle work and the relaxation from the heat itself. This massage isn't for everyone, but it's my favorite, and Relache has always exceeded my expectations. I always fall asleep and when done I walk away completely relaxed, with a few minor aches which is to be expected from deep muscle work, but also rejuvenated. I've also had eye lash tinting and waxing (eyebrow, bikini, lower leg & underarms) done at Relache and have always left completely satisfied! I've always had positive experiences all the way from the front desk, the spa concierge, through check-out and the parking attendant! So maybe it's my positive experiences of the services themselves that allow me to overlook the perpetual flowing rooms, besides that this is hardly the worst inconvenience I've ever experienced! The MGM Grand Spa in Las Vegas has some treatment rooms located on different floors than the main spa; requiring you to exit the spa--dressed in robe & slippers--wander the halls being led by your therapist to the elevator and eventually your room! My favorite treatment to receive there is the Shirodhara Hot Oil Scalp Massage; which is only awkward when you have to return to the lounge after having hot oil massaged into your scalp. It's not a pretty sight, but this treatment is worth it, and it makes the flow of the Relache spa pale in comparison. read more
