Friendly staff, great service and good food. Definitely the place to go when you are in Nelson.

Loved this restaurant last year so went again, now granted it was a Monday night but it wasn't up to their usual standards. The pasta was a 2 star, chicken was just ok...we've had much better dinners there. Disappointed but won't write it off yet, will give it another try... Only because I read an article about the owner and was hoping he would succeed, after this experience I'm not sure. read more

Outstanding. Possibly one of the best breakfasts I've ever had the pleasure of ordering. Poached bacon wrapped egg filled deep fried avocado......literally blew my mind with it's textures, flavours and all round moreishness. I happened upon this restaurant walking down Baker Street. Normally, I stick to Yelp recommendations but Rel-ish just opened in February and no one had taken the time to list it. I visited Rel-ish on a quiet Monday evening. It is a clean and modern room with very friendly staff. They have a limited but decent selection of (mostly) BC wines to choose from. The menu is modern American with a few twists thrown in. I had a roasted beet salad to start. Lots of beets on a sizeable bed of mixed greens served with a curry dressing. Simple and delicious. I also had the blackened sole (fish special of the day) served on baby bok choy and mashed potatoes with cooked pineapple on the side, all topped with roasted corn. It felt very Jamaican to me. The spice on the fish was spicy without being overbearing. One very small thing that I would have preferred was if the pineapple was cut into smaller pieces, or perhaps mixed into the corn to make a relish. The sweetness of the pineapple went very well with the spiciness of the fish but it seemed a little unnatural to eat it the way it was served. Like I said, a very small preference. Overall, especially for a new restaurant in a town of many great places to eat, I think they have something to offer. read more

We didn't think to make a reservation ahead of time, and they were slammed. The server/hostess was very accommodating and had us seated in about 10 minutes. The food was amazing and atmosphere loud and friendly. A+ read more

The food was pretty good, I thought the burgers looked really good, but I got an Eggs Benny that was tasty, although I found the aftertaste of the hollandaise sauce felt off, clearly an ingredient I didn't remember but it wasn't quite the taste I want when it comes to breakfast. The bread and salmon and egg were all great. My main criticism was the service, I just felt like they could've been a bit more welcoming, they were very nice to a local or regular but I felt like I was very low priority here. I sat at the bar and the seats were uncomfortable. I tried to make small talk to the chef when it was quiet and he only gave me a one word response then went and chatted with a regular instead. I also have a small thing with people not returning thank you's, just a "no worries" or "of course" goes along way, silence comes across as passive aggressive. Could be a great spot, just needs to step up their accommodation game. read more

Such an awesome place! Modern look and the open kitchen is a really cool concept. Highly recommend the goat cheese stuffed prawns!! They are to die for. Great menu and so many choices for people with special diets. Will come back here again and again. read more

A great restaurant for a nice evening out. More on the expensive side but definitely worth it! All of their burgers are amazing and you can't go wrong in the entree department. They have a creative drink selection that is sure to excite your tastebuds! Our waitress was Ellie and she was amazing, very attentive but also let us enjoy our meal. My friend and I stopped in for appetizers one evening before we went to the theatre. Service was good and the appies delicious. I would give it another try for the burgers. Not a great place to talk. As noisy as can be. Tight, crowded seating. Privacy doesn't exist. The music doesn't help. Typically untrained, pleasant, pretty food server. Appetizer of battered, fried string beans, then doused in a sauce that makes them soggy. I guess they thought they were making poutine. Delicious chicken leg and thigh with lovely veggies, but the bacon risotto that was salt laden and inedible. The other diner had delicious beef short ribs, veggies and scalloped sweet potatoes that she liked. Two glasses of wine and two cocktails. $120. read more

Friday night was as busy as it can get we showed for a late dinner at 8pm , it was a full house and a table was available with-in 15minutes. the specialty drinks were excelent. the appies were a generous size and deliscious. the entre's were unbelivably flavourful. we will be back thanks to the large availabilty of gluten free, great service, atmosphere, and delicious food. read more

Yet again, an excellent meal here, fair priced with decent service for a delicious meal. The shrimp cocoanut curry bowl was very good, but the beef stroganoff is still the favourite. My husband and I recently had an overnight stay in Nelson,BC. We were trying to decide on a place to have dinner. We had received s recommendation regarding this cute bistro called Rel-ish. This bistro is one we will definitely return to again. The service received by Kate was exceptional, friendly and professional. We had the specials of the evening. I had the roasted chicken, it was deliciously moist. Chef Kelly prepared a sumptuous sauce of sage, butter, paprika, and herbs. The chicken had a slice of Bria cheese melted on top. Small red potatoes roasted with bacon accompanied by slices of zucchini with parm. Fantastic! My husband had shredded pork tacos with a smoky flavor, on top each generous portion was a slaw made with beets, yams and cabbage. This combination added a slight sweetness and tang that blended so perfectly. Please go and try this bistro when looking for a wonderful meal, you will not be disappointed. read more

We have been here before with excellent service & food. This time we left a little disappointed. The staff was pleasant, but it almost took 60 min to get our food after we ordered. I highly recommend if the kitchen usually takes 45 min or longer to serve meals that they offer some sort of appetizer while the customers wait, like bread or edamame or something. I ordered a potato, vegetable, quinoa curry bowl. Everything was cooked fine but there was a very bitter herb/spice or something that made me unable to eat my meal. Not every bite had the bitter taste, which makes me believe it was an herb/spice that my taste buds didn't like. I didn't want to wait for another meal, so I left hungry. The service is best described as "dismissive". My date and I were made to feel like the staff couldn't be bothered to seat us, check on us, or even take payment when we wanted to leave. The decor was trendy and comfortable. The Mayan burger was delicious. The tomato soup was very rich (good) and salty (not good). The raspberry lemondrop cocktail was too sour to drink. Outstanding coffee! We only tried their starter shrimp with goat cheese and a large greens salad. Delicious. They accidentally left a piece of plastic on the shrimp and the waitress very kindly insisted that I accept a complementary coffee. The coffee is served in a French press. It's a dark roast arabica. So flavourful and aromatic. A well located patio. I will be returning to explore more of their menu, no doubt. read more

Couldn't agree more with a previous review about the staff being 'inconvenienced' to serve patrons. We were sat promptly and then forgotten. We had reviewed the menu in its entirety before we were finally offered a beverage. The three girls working were so engaged in conversation with one another at the bar they couldn't be bothered with us. Service is 60%, food is 40% responsible for success in restaurants, hence why this place will be just another casualty in this highly competitive industry. read more
