Had a great breakfast -- all of the dishes being brought out looked delicious and everything is homemade

    Tofu scramble (vegan)

Fun little brunch spot right on the main street in the heart of town. We visited on a Sunday at 9:30am and there was about a half-hour wait (with 50% capacity during COVID times). They have a tofu scramble that can be made vegan (i.e., without the raita and dry toast), so we both ordered that. The scramble is curry flavoured and comes with chickpeas and spinach; plus a side of potatoes and choice of toast. The scramble was fairly tasty, though could use more veggies and more interesting seasoning. Big portion -- we were definitely full. Bottomless coffee is appreciated. Friendly service. Good spot for brunch in this little town.

Sweet little hole in the wall! The outside of the building looks a little dumpy but do not be deceived. The food inside is delicious and the atmosphere is relaxing. I got the Kick Hash meal and it was kick ass. They also have tons of gluten-free options. If I happened to live in Nelson this would be my go to breakfast place.

This place has AMAZING food! I'm vegan and they were very accommodating. Their rancheros tacos were one of the top 5 favorite breakfasts I've ever had and I've traveled a ton. My husband got the veggie hash and thought it was absolutely fantastic. I can't recommend this place enough.

This is probably the busiest lunch spot in Nelson. We came on a Saturday and had to wait about half an hour. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich and adult grilled cheese. They were both very good but had to wait for awhile after ordering. People who work here definitely give off an organic vibe and the food have a homemade presentation. Worth checking out if you visit Nelson.

From the multiple positive reviews, I was looking forward to this breakfast and they didnt disappoint...kinda. The highs are great, but enough little mistakes to knock my rating from 4 to 3.5. First, let it be said that this place is small, unassuming with portraits of local art everywhere. Its decor is simple, but as their focus and vibe seems to be more new age slanted, it really doesnt need to. Next, the menu is quite interesting, especially their options for the veggie and health crowd which makes great sense being in the hippie core of Canada. Now I had the Kick Hash, a great mix of free range omega 3 eggs, red potatoes and buffalo sausage with a hollandaise sauce. The heat of the sausage did give the dish a nice little "kick" that elevated the flavourful eggs to a new level. I enjoyed it throughly, though the odd dark rye bread it came with was actually bitter, throwing off the final bites unpleasantly. I had to smother raspberry jam and eat slices of orange to get rid of that taste. My partner had these quite well made shrimp and crab cakes that had very little filler (awesome) with 2 free range omega 3 eggs. The cakes were simply great, and the chipotle hollandaise paired with it was equally good. However, her own red potatos were a bit tough and under done. My visiting parents had some simple bennies and a scrambled eggs with smoked salmon mix. The salmon was nice, but far far too salty under most measures and just overwhelmed the taste of the eggs. The guacamole that came with it was equally over salted and tasted heavily of vinegar as opposed to a refreshing lime taste. Also, avoid the hot sauce on the tables at all cost. Not hot at all (at least for me), but instead was not much better than pure vinegar with some red tinge. I still cant get that aftertaste double blow of the guacamole and the hot sauce out of my mouth (and I barely had much of either since I just wanted it for taste) after a bottle of water. Service was a little slow but they were trying their best though as the place was busy after all. So overall, it was a good breakfast and a place id revisit. Buuut there were enough surprises to throw my vote down.

Just some delicious ranchero breakfast tacos which can be made with scrambled tofu if you like. No big deal.

On our way back home to the states, we stopped at this gem for breakfast. What a treat! The food was amazing. I had ranchero breakfast tacos which came with seasoned pan fries and black bean salsa. It was delicious. My wife had a traditional breakfast with suasage, eggs, pan fries and toast. She was very happy with it all. They had several vegetarian and vegan options as well (curried tofu scramble which could be substituted for eggs on many dishes). The people there were great and the atmosphere was wonderful. Definitely check it out if you are in Nelson, BC.

Classic Downtown Dinner, very pleasant wait staff and fast for a busy little dinner on the corner. I had an omelette cheese/ham/tomato the daily special with sour dough and pan fries. Everything had good taste but very small portions. My GF had the Kick Hash noting a previous reviewers comments. She really enjoyed the flavor however she fished it a still wanted more. She never fishes a meal it was very small as well for the cost. If you are looking for a diner experience watching Nelson's downtown wake up this place has it. Order lots if you are hungry.

    New Paris Omelette

9 months later and I have returned to this nice little cafe in quirky Nelson, BC. Service this time was better. I was prompted to sit wherever I liked as I walked in and was approached by a waitress shortly after. The fact that it was 5 minutes to 1pm might have had something to do with it. The place was nearly empty. Much of what I remembered about this place remained the same. The entrance was still located inside a "mall" and the place still had nice albeit amateur looking paintings hanging on the wall. I ordered the new Paris omelette (ham, caramelized onions, goat cheese and basil topped with Hollandaise sauce) as suggested by another yelp review. It came within 10 minutes and at first glance I have to say I was not impressed. The egg looked like an egg patty folded in half. My taste buds however told me what was what. The sweetness of the onions really went well with the tanginess of the cheese which I suspect was cut with cream cheese. The Hollandaise was as I remembered thick and rich. It also came with potato hash and toast which was nothing to write home about. Service-wise, there is still room for improvement. I got the impressions that the servers didn't really care about me at first. They took my order, brought me my food and then stayed away. This was redeemed however as one server did ask me how my food was but I did have to tell her to refill my water. I think more attention to detail would have put this place over the top in my heart. Would I come back again? The answer is still yes. The food was good, prices were reasonable and there are still so many options left for me to try.

Delicious, wonderful, sweet, so totally worth it. I have food allergies and they were so kind and accommodating... also salmon eggs Benedict on (good) gluten free toast. The service was stellar, the environment perfect for a Saturday morning brunch... And good coffee.

Ok place. Not great. Bad attitude from server. Food was ok but just ok. Would not go back for it. Just my opinion from one visit.

Marzano clearly puts intention behind what they do, drawing inspiration from traditional Neapolitan techniques and a focus on high-quality, simple ingredients, and that care shows up on the menu. From an accessibility standpoint, this was one of the easier Italian meals I've had while eating GF. Gluten-free options were clearly labeled, including modification notes, which made ordering straightforward. Nearly all pizzas and pastas could be made gluten free, aside from specialty pastas like the gnocchi and lasagna. They also had a gluten-free focaccia available as an appetizer, which had an excellent texture. The appetizers were a standout. We shared the gnocchi and burrata and both were delicious. Pizza got great feedback from the table overall, though a couple slices were slightly undercooked in the center and flopped when picked up. I ordered the sirloin, which was okay, though not my favorite part of the meal. Service was excellent. Our server was attentive and thoughtful, offering a soup sample to our 90-year-old guest who was unsure about the daily option, and kindly helped wrangle us for a group photo during a busy dinner hour, which I really appreciated. The interior is gorgeous--modern, warm, and very well maintained. Even though Marzano opened in 2018, it feels much newer. I debated between a 4 and 5 star review due to my entrée and the pizza texture, but the intention is clearly there, and the overall experience was strong. I'd absolutely come back and would love to try more of the menu next time.

Absolutely phenomenal. My mom had the fish sandwich with a side of buffalo fries, and we also shared the buffalo chicken fries -- everything was really, really good. Huge shoutout to Lawrence, our waiter, and Eryn, our server -- both were incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming. Eryn never stopped checking on us, kept our waters filled, and had the best smile. Lawrence even made us a hot chocolate with whipped cream, which was hands down the best hot chocolate in town. The service is excellent, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and this is one of the best places to stop in while visiting Nelson. There was outdoor seating that was wonderful for this hot evening, but there is a bit of a wait to get that seating. It is an umbrella covered seating area with a candle on the table, giving a romantic or cozy feeling. The service was nice but busy as expected. The server had a nice approach, but I felt like I was being sold items that the server first said she did t care for, but as I selected the item, she then said it was a great choice and that she liked it. I'm never really interested in the likes or dislikes of the server, but their description of dishes and answers to questions about ingredients or items on a dish on invaluable. I had the spicy fried chicken sandwich with a salad. The chicken breast was perfectly prepared with a nice crunch. It was served on a brioche bun. I had sharp cheddar cheese with the usual burger toppings. I am now appreciating that spicy, according to the palates of European - associated community, is not the same as it would be in some Latin, Thai, or Black/African communities. I love moderate to high heat and spice. What is considered "very spicy and hot", to my palate, was mild and tasty. That being said, it was a tasty burger and the salad was fine. We did not order dessert given how busy it was and we were tired from a long day. I would recommend this place to eat as a bit of an upscale bar food place. I would recommend that the chefs learn how to adjust the heat and spice for those of us believing the menu when it says hot and spicy*** as server for increased heat and spice.
