Coffee is not even close to as good as OSO. Baking is great on the other hand. Every time I've had an empire coffee/americano I am throughly disappointed. Not sure about the other drinks read more

Great coffee, inviting people and lovely atmosphere! Will definitely make a stop there again! read more

Empire Coffee - Iced latte with their "Hair Bender" bean - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Nelson, British Columbia

Coffee was amazing, full of flavor and not too sweet, ordered their gingerbread latte and was very pleased with the flavor. Good amount of space, busy spot. Loud. Weird the food was all over the counter. Handing out receipts right over pastry's and pizza next to the register. Would visit again read more

Service is shit. Don't expect to get your coffee quickly, the workers will be gossiping too much for that level of efficiency. Food is okay most of the time, if a little overpriced. But this is Nelson so that's a given. read more

We enjoyed the coffee here at Empire Coffee. The service was friendly and fast and the coffee was great. Definitely would recommend checking this spot out. read more

Empire Coffee - the outside of the building - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Nelson, British Columbia

Fast accurate delicious service. Warm welcoming staff. Wonderful variety of always changing tasty and mostly healthy muffins (some just decadent). Perfect as you choose to order it coffee & tea, my fave: cafe mocha w/almond milk, whipped cream and chocolate drizzle on top! A meal in itself! Downtown. Vernon Street, Nelson BC location my go to, and a recently added location at the Prestige Lakeside Resort.serve exceptional savory baked specialties including dill pickle pizza (better than you imagine...) A great place to take out or sit and contemplate or work on your computer (not during rush hours). read more

Service is just god awful (except for a few good apples who can't change the culture). I don't know if it's poor treatment from management, age and maturity of the staff, other personal factors, or all of the above but beware of glares, apathetic tone, and snide remarks as they walk past your table. Bye empire - I'll miss your brie and avo toast but not much else read more

Just good coffee, full stop. Friendly, capable staff, inviting ambiance. Would go back

Cool little coffee shop on a quieter street. Busy. Reasonably priced. They have breakfast and lunch and muffins and deserts. Unique garage door indoor outdoor patio that is airy and all glass. Nice mountain views. Rustic wood seating. It's a winner! read more

Amazing breakfast sandwiches, very cool location, subpar coffee. Cappuccino was just an 8oz cafe au lait. Despite the great volume of liquid milk, the espresso itself had odd flavor notes. Cortado came in an 8oz cup and was basically a double shot mixed with some warm milk. 99.9% of good espresso drinks is giving a damn and training. Empire has some work to do here. read more

Cute location! Nice staff, delicious drinks (stumptown coffee) they didn't make the pumpkin spice latte too sweet which I loved! Their croissants and sandwiches were fresh and scrumptious. read more

All the food is spot on & full of flavor, quick efficient service & a great location.

Slowest coffee shop ever... been here a few times and have to wait at least 10 minutes for a latte because the baristas are distracted on their phones or talking to each other read more

Every once in a while you walk into a place and everything just feels right. This is one of those places. The coffee was great. Although it shouldn't matter, I really did enjoy the decor here. I would have rated Empire Coffee at a 5 but the person taking our order at the till was just too humorless to make this a perfect visit. read more

Exceptional. Great coffee, lots of fresh-baked treats, and I had every breakfast sandwich they make over the five days I was in town. The want your business and appreciate it. The staff were nice and friendly. Lots of seating whether indoor or on the covered and heated outdoor-ish space Loved it here and will go back every time I am in Nelson! read more

We had 2 different breakfast sandwiches that each were more flavour loaded and tasty than most full breakfasts we've had anywhere. Brilliantly matched flavours for a fantastic medley in the mouth. It was all I could do not to order another one just for the taste of it. Among them was the Pacific Breakfast sandwich which for us had great things going on in harmony. Simply delicious! read more

I love this restaurant and my favourite thing to order is the medium hot chocolate no whip cream and this is what gets me too why I only rated it four out of five because I don't know if anyone else does this but i like to use the to go cups even when I'm there even though I know they wash the cups but I just don't like it anyways whenever I ask for a to go cup the employees always criticize me which I don't need when I just want my hot chocolate but I still recommend this cafe read more

Great coffee in a beautiful shop. Friendly staff and good music. Went here 3 days in a row and found it to be the best coffee in Nelson.

Empire coffee is the perfect coffee spot! Not only do they have excellent coffee, they serve a variety of baked items and sandwiches. Excellently pulled espresso shots of Stumptown coffee paired with silky smooth foam makes for an outstanding latte. Their chai had the perfect amount of spice and sweet. The atmosphere is clean and engaging, a thoughtfully designed space. The large sun room seating is the perfect spot to enjoy the mountain views while staying cozy by the fire or soaking up the suns rays. Service was friendly and informative. read more

Nice space and popular on Saturday morning. The "egg mcmuffin" was OK. The other breakfast bagel sandwich was so forgettable that we can't remember it now. The Stumptown coffee was OK, but too fruity for our liking. It's not a bad place, just not great or memorable. read more

Best friggin food here and good coffee nice outside and good places to work. Also mint bathrooms

Beautiful authentic space including outdoor patio with garage door closure Service was excellent, the girls inside were efficient and super friendly I had a soy latte, it was delicious, the cookies look amazing huge, two dollars apiece they are a find Looking forward to tomorrow's coffee read more

My wife ordered a London Fog and it was not acceptable (she drinks these all the time) so she had them remake it. Still not good the second time so she got just a small coffee instead. Even though there was an almost $3 price difference they did not offer a refund. The mocha latte I had was so so at best but my daughter's hot chocolate was good. Overall quite disappointing. read more

The coffee is delicious! My boyfriend enjoyed his regular coffee and breakfast sandwich The latte I had was delicious and not too strong - the way I like it. I had the Pacific Breakfast sandwich and although it was okay, it was messy and had too much going on.. They would be better off not to smother the trout in too many messy ingredients. It was not pleasing from a textural sense and the flavours were not blending well. Perhaps the person making it did not know how to put it together properly. I would go again for the coffee for sure and perhaps try a different menu item. read more

I really like the food and coffee here but the service I had today was terrible. Absolutely horrible. The woman who took my order was very rude and scoffed at the small tip I gave her. Sorry, but you're not getting a good tip if you are unpleasant. Very disappointed in this. read more

Best coffee in town and great selection of sandwiches and baked goods, this is my favourite place in town for a quick snack!

Nice place adjacent to the Adventure Hotel. Excellent food options, try the Pacific Bagel with chunks of salmon and the fixings. Place has a good vibe to start you day. I had a cafe latte with a great blend of smoothness and bold coffee taste. The place also has good wifi. read more

The food and coffee are good, but despite having 4 people on staff on a weekday morning at 9:30, they are incredibly slow and inefficient. They were nice about making us wait, but waiting 20 min to get a few breakfast sandwiches because the person making them does one at a time is insane. They also messed up our order for the vegetarian in our group, but by then we didn't want to wait any longer. I'd only go here if I had absolutely nothing to do or nowhere to be...with something to entertain myself as well. read more

I go to Empire a few times a week. My coffee is always on point and their banana choc-chip muffins are so yummy. My housemate is addicted to their gluten free brownie. I think she may get one a day!!! read more

horrible service, bad food, crappy atmosphere. not where it's at. grounded was better.

Generic urban decor and starbucks imitator, hardly reflective of the Kootenay DIY that makes Nelson great. Nothing is offered that you can't get anywhere else on the continent, except higher priced mediocrity than other urban centres. After giving them a couple of tries over a couple of months I am never going back. They can not make a good machine coffee to save their lives. read more

Best spot in town for a latte and a snack. Service is always quick and friendly despite how bustling the place is!

I'm a local and I can tell you we have a lot of coffee houses in Nelson. I like Empire a lot and find it is my go to place these days. The coffee is great and the sandwiches, salads, soups and other edibles are really good too. I like most of the other coffee shops as well, but this one stands out for me in Nelson...probably the ambiance and the outdoor seating area give it an edge over the others. read more

I've been to this place a few times now and very much enjoy the atmosphere for a cup of something hot and a pastry. I would absolutely recommend the carrot cupcake..IT IS AMAZING! The frittata was mediocre - tasted like day old spongy eggs on the outside, but the sauce they serve with it is tasty. The americano and London fog I ordered were both ok. I've also ordered the cinnamon roll which is lovely. All in all, excellent atmosphere, and I will definitely return for some pastries and hot beverages. read more
