To start with, this is not my favorite Charlotte REI location. I much prefer the one in Northlake area (north side of Charlotte). This store is divided into two floors. The layout is almost genius and makes for a cool look inside. There's an entrance on both floors because of the way the mall and parking lot are designed. It still makes for a sometimes frustrating shopping experience. At the Northlake store, they have their REI garage sales outside in a cordoned off section of the parking lot. That means everything that's discounted is lying spread out right in front of you. Very easy to pick from! Here, it seems they have to put everything inside the store. It's all intermingled with the other similar items. If you are familiar with the layout here (which I'm not) then you'll probably be okay at finding what you're looking for. But for odds and ends, it's a bit of a treasure hunt. Staff here is helpful but far and few between when compared to the Northlake store. On one visit at the Northlake store I swear 5 employees asked me if I needed help in the span of 30 minutes. I've been here for that long and never once asked if I needed help. Yep, prices are high. If you're a regular here you already know it. And you probably are a member and get your 10% dividend every year with a bit of that cost returned to you. When things are on sale you get some serious deals - at least 20% off most of the time. I rarely buy things full price here unless I have my heart set on it.

Super spendy for workout and outdoor gear. I'm not going to spend $135 for a waterproof outer shell, thanks! Even the clearance rack was expensive! Instead, I found one piece at a decent price at Bass Pro and some other stuff online from Amazon. Buyer beware!

Walked in this store without intending to buy anything. Just my first time in this store. I saw was a rack with a sign posted that said 30% off. I took the grey hoodie in the background of this picture to the register. It rang up for full price and the manager said the sign was on the wrong rack and it wasn't on sale. I told him that was false advertising but he didn't do anything about it. First time and last time I will enter this store.

Did you know that REI offers CLASSES for FREE!! I'm so excited!!! I went to my first class this evening. The class was a how-to on bike maintenance. It was fantastic! The lady was very good at explaining in simple terms how to do everything from cleaning, de-greasing, lube care, changing your flat tire, inflation, break adjustments, and more! She was more than happy to answer any questions. I had a fabulous time!!

Long time REI fan. Took my bike (not REI purchased) in for a minor fix and got some great help from their bike shop. 100% reccommend.

I blame the odd…read moresignage (one shirted dummy, seated; words at the top of a window which are largely covered by an awning; text atop that awning with a different name on it!) as I definitely saw and identified the location to the left and the two boutiques to the right as I ride right past this main event. I literally thought this place was a vintage shop based on the branding I could see and the TIKI STATUE in the main window display. The location itself was neat and clean, and totally packed. I was impressed with all of the inventory they had. That said, I didn't know what some of it was and I couldn't tell what a lot of it cost. Clarity of labeling is important to keep things from feeling like clutter and to allow customers to help themselves. Also, I just didn't really feel the love which tells me that at this location customers do have to help themselves. I came by to see what the place was all about and what kind of services were offered but didn't really find that out. Did speak with someone who appeared to be working and it looked like there was a huge shop area in the back but I didn't really get a sense for what was going on, what was available, who would be helping me/my new baby girl (haven't named her, yet), etc. I'll definitely check them out again if/when I've got something specific going on, but this visit felt pretty average. If you're going to help me with my wheels, I want to feel like you love her, too. Even if she's been around the block a time or two!

I took my bike in and talked to a lady named Audrey. She wasn't very personable from the beginning. She told me a tune up was $105.00, I had to ask her to repeat that number. Then she told me it would be a week before someone called me to tell me what needed to be done to the bike. I didn't ask but this place has changed hands from the two guys who were the original owners when they were in downtown Rock Hill. Riverwalk is more of an upscale location and they can probably run the business this way. They are overcharging and underserving. What a business model? I was told to take my bike to Dicks Bike Repair in Pineville so I did. Full service tune up for $75.00 and back in two days.

They both say they are open on the weekends but in actuality only sales are open on the weekends- they fail to mention no tech including minor adjustments. It would have been nice to get this information before I drove an hour round trip. On top of that, when I pointed this out to the employee he was rude and condescending. He made excuses and then told me good luck when I said I would go to the Trek Store in South CLT instead. They saw be struggling with a young child to get him and the bike back in the car and wouldn't allow either of us to use their restroom even when I purchased a helmet. On the flip side, the Trek Store in South Charlotte tuned my son's bike on the weekend for no cost and offered to load and unload the bike without me asking. And they had clean restrooms. The tech was cheerful and helpful. I would always recommend South Charlotte Trek store over Bike Town.

If your considering buying bikes, take a minuet to read my experience…read more Talking about getting bikes for over 1 year now, my wife & I were driving by The Bike Gallery on Park Rd. and decided to stop in. We had no intent to buy anything as we were just starting the process and didn't even have a budget or even know what kind or brand of bike to get. Immediately greeted by the guy at the counter, I let him know we just wanted some information. He asked us a few questions and talked us through several options. As he began to narrow down our goals, he walked us outside to show us what he felt would be a good fit. Trying them out in the parking lot we were pleased. Of course I hadn't looked at the price tag, so I asked the question, and much to my surprise they were much less than I expected. This guy could have "up sold" me, but he didn't. This was the right bike for us. No pressure whatsoever, I don't even think he asked us if we wanted to purchase them, but we were so thrilled with the experience we ordered two bikes that day. We got a call that our bikes were ready and went to pick them up. When we arrived, we were met again by one of the owners and he immediately got our bikes. Remember, we are new to this so they could have sold us anything, but no pressure. I asked about helmets, he showed us a few options but suggested one, so we both of them, I also purchased a bike rake for my truck, and they put it together so I could use it bringing my bikes home. They didn't have to do that.... But they did. A family-owned business for 50 years, brand name bikes, surprisingly reasonable prices and great service, I won't think twice if I need anything and will make the drive across town just to do business with these guys. If you think you're going to get a bike cheaper somewhere else, trust me, you will get a cheap bike. If you're thinking about getting new bikes or even need service on the ones you have, cheat yourself, go see the team at The Bike Gallery. Joe & Megan, Mint Hill, NC
