I have shopped in this Orvis store many times. I usually get very good service. Today when I entered there was one associate on the side of the store near the door and one other person. I walked in, no greeting from the associate. He was chatting with his friend or acquaintance. He never acknowledged me. He never checked on me or if I needed anything while I shopped. I had an arm full of clothing. I let myself into the fitting room. I Came out , got other sizes, went back and forth. The associate (Davidson) continued chatting away. I carried the clothing around while I looked. Finally I said "Do you work here?" He said "yes". The friend left but he never did offer any help. Someone else came from the other side to cash Me out. He did apologize but needless to say I won't shop there again. read more

If you love the experience of buying a used car, then you'll love shopping at Orvis. The moment you step in the door a salesman will attach themselves to you like a virus and stalk you every step of the way until you run back out the door. They'll eavesdrop on your conversations and randomly join in. When you pick something up to take a closer look, they'll say "I have one of those...it's my favorite!" or "Hey, that would look great on you!" as you roll your eyes and walk away. I wish I could go to Orvis without being stalked by their salespeople. The quality is good and very comfortable...albeit clothing runs a bit large. Regardless, if you need to shop in person consider taking your phone and earbuds and listen to your favorite tunes as you shop. Otherwise, shop online. read more

This is an outdoor store for men / women. From fly-fishing to outdoor clothing, this is for the active outdoor living family. It is high end, high quality items, with a great knowledgeable staff. Located right in the middle of Phillips Place (across from Brooks Brothers) this location is easy to get in and out of. If you need clothing and shoes for that long hike or cold winter, these guys will be able to assist with a wide variety of quality manufacturers. I am happy to have found this place locally, as they have a wonderful online store as well, that I have been using for years. Think Bass Pro Shop or Cabela's, then add ALOT of class. Walked in doors squeak like none other. One would think someone would know what lithium grease is. Next I roamed around looking at several products. Lots of employees NONE contacted me. I even had one bump into me and didn't get asked if I needed help. Very disappointing. Worst experience of service for this line of stores. read more

I went into Orvis to browse around with my wife after we had lunch at PF Changs across the street. Once we entered we where greeted and throughout our visit we where engaged by all the employees in the store. The employees let us know that they where there for us and if we needed any assistance not to hesitate to ask. These comment of poor CS where not seen here in this store neither any squeaky doors, now that was a bit much in a review dont ya think. Very nice people and even some very good conversations between talking about Orvis products. The selection of item was very good. A nice cross section of men's and women's clothing, K9's supplies as well as dog beds, and a great selection of fly fishing equipment. Lots of different style rods where in the store, but due to a very lucrative sale of 50% the reels I would have been interested in where no where to be seen and was even asked by an employee if I wanted him to check into another store or even online to have it shipped at no cost to me if they could find one available. I didn't as I wanted to have hands on first with the reels. Yet it was great to know that these services existed with Orvis and there retail locations. The quality of the the clothing and goods would be what one would consider the better end of items for those inclined to live the adventurous lifestyle. Yet very competitive and stylish without being a bum! You do pay a premium but do get a great value even in that. As you really do in alot of times pay for what you get. I was a little disappointed in seeing some Orvis branded clothing being made in China. But this disappointing trend is found almost everywhere. I hope that Orvis takes note and brings back the manufacturing here to the States. It would make that premium price paid for branded stuff even though made well and stylish less stingy when not on sale. Though I am not faulting the retail location at all This is just one more way they Orvis could improve upon and give back to there communities. I do like the fact that I can browse the website to see what products are available and go to the retail location for a hands on approach as well as quick gratification for spending my hard earned money on something I want. Quick tip: seasonal sales are the greatest. As one season cones to an end and another one looms on the horizon. This is the time to stock up on the harder goods like Jackets and coats. Even finding jewels on sale for my spouse such as scarfs and me some very nice flannels and button up shirts that not only will see the season out. Yet, can be used for the rest of the year while stretching my purchasing power even further by at least 50%. Also they can sign you up for a email list to get certain sales information. I would check with one of the associates as I don't have all the details. AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE! I've been in several other of the neighboring Orvis stores and this location has the best customer service by far! The moment I walked in the door, all visible associates acknowledged me - even those with customers. I didn't see anyone standing around - they were helping customers, working the cash register, on the phone, folding clothing, etc. I was just browsing because I love outdoor stores and fly fish and hunt, so it was really cool to just shop there and see what they had. Everything looked clean and in its place and so fun. They did a great job with setup. I probably talked to 4 different employees and they were all social and professional. They showed me brand new products they just got in, talked about fishing trips, and even though I didn't buy anything, I left with a smile. Now thats a great store! read more

Nice product, poor service. My wife and I spent 30 minutes there while she tried on about 8 different Barbour coats. Of the ones she liked, the store did not have her size. A saleswoman was nearby for the entire time but engaged in a conversation with someone about travel, places, and people they knew. Its likely the store could have ordered her size, we will never know. We went across the street to Nordstroms and found multiple helpful staff that helped my wife locate the Barbour coat she wanted in her size. We bought it from Nordstroms. read more

This store is one of Charlotte's best kept secrets that more people should know about. The staff is super helpful and most have been there a very long time. They go out of their way to help you out every time. If they don't have your size or color they order it for you and it is shipped to your home at no charge. Usually in a day or two. I bought a pair of Costa sunglasses there with a lifetime guarantee about three years ago. The rubber around the nose guard came undone and I took them in. They looked up my info, printed a receipt and told me I would have a new pair in a week. I took them in at noon on a Wednesday. 23 hours later a Fed Ex truck pulled up at my house with a brand new pair. 23 hours. Orvis is as good as it gets at customer service. And their products are top notch and worth the price.
