This was a cute trendy "skateboard" type of store! There were some really cool t- shirts in here and nice sneakers. We came here on our way apartment hunting and ended up walking pass this store and decided to stop in. Immediately upon walking in, we noticed some really good music playing and the super cool vibes. We were greeted by a tall very friendly gentleman whom asked us if we was looking for anything specific- at which we told him we was just looking around. There was a jacket in here that my cousin fell in love with that wasn't too pricey. Additionally, there were sneakers in here (really nice Adidas) sneakers for about $50 (not bad at all). Although I didn't buy anything, I really had no complaints. The pieces in here were nice/trendy and the staff was really friendly and helpful. read more

Just went there this evening looking for Nike Dunks for my 15 yr old daughter. I called beforehand to make sure they had 7.5 shoe size and even asked if they could text me pics of shoes so I don't waste my time or theirs. They said they couldn't text a pic. Fine. I was only 17 minutes away and went to the store. Once I got there, there were 4 young guys near the cash register all on their phones and talking amongst each other. The young guy that helped me on phone (didn't catch his name) proceeded to show me the selection of dunks. Now, I'm not a sneaker expert, but these dunks looked a little different than the ones I had just looked at at Southpark Mall. I begrudgingly select a color and he goes to the back to get them. He says "6.5". I say "no, 7.5". As he's back there, I'm thinking to myself, these shoes look like boy shoes so I tell the other guys just hanging out to tell the sales guy in the back that my daughter is not gonna like the shoes and that I'm gonna pass. I leave. All I thought as I'm driving to Social Status is "did this dude just try to sell me some boy shoes?". Lack of choices and lack of people in the store 2 days before Christmas made me think......hmmmm. read more

I purchased a black sheep shop deck 8.25 on my second visit. This place has the goods! Most skate brands are on deck from Nike sb, adidas, vans, real, enjoi, and more. Place is a skaters dream to try stuff on. 2 negatives bring Black Sheep down 2 stars. 1) price - I ended up buying a build your own complete offline and saving $40. I wanted to stay local, but a better set up for $40 cheaper - come on. I did splurge on a spare deck from here to support Charlotte. 2) amount of employees - don't get me wrong, I enjoy good service. However, both times in the shop consisted of more employees then customers. Every 5 seconds I was getting asked if I needed to try on something or what can they can do to help. It was fine the first 5 times. After that it made me want to shop through a computer and have less interaction. If this is how you like to shop, this place is for YOU! read more

We've been to several rad art shows at this shop, and while I've never owned a board, can recognize a broad selection of decks, shoes, and apparel for both men and women when I see it. Prices on the clothing is fair, and more reasonable than McLamerson Apparel next store. Space is well lit, well designed and FULL of skate paraphenalia - leaning towers of shoe boxes like some weird metropolis line every wall. The shows we've seen are more graff/street/urban art than painting or the "finer" arts but they get some big names in, and almost everything is for sale. Art rotates a lot and there's an opening every month or two. Awesome, locally owned skate culture hub. Come for the gear if you skate - or for the apparel and art, if not. read more

um...so. Me trying to be all "local like", I walked into this store not knowing what to expect. 0__0 whoa...talk about an awkward moment. We saw this shop from across the street and figured we'd go in and have a look. Walking in, we immediately knew that this wasn't a store we fit in. Defiantly NOT the stores' fault. The cool thing?? The guys working there could tell we didn't fit BUT they still greeted us, talked to us, and just sat and chatted with us. Made me want to stay and browse...and I'm glad I did. It's a skate shop. Skater clothes, boards, rollerblades, shoes, hats, you name it. If skaters wear it, they've probably got it. Very tiny store but easy to move around in. Beware: Teens and tweens are running ramped around and a few in the store. Defiantly not paying customers. Solid three stars just because the workers made me feel comfy, and they actually have some cool clothes/shoes in there. read more

Seriously awesome skateshop in Charlotte. Black Sheep walks the line between the streetwear-centric shops like DC's Palace 5ive and Chicago's St. Alfred and more core shops that totally cater to actual skaters. You can get your Nike SB quickstrikes here, but you can also get a new board or trucks and have a great selection to pick from. Everyone who was in the shop when I stopped by--staff and customers included--obviously skated. Their selection of goods--especially adidas and Nike SB sneakers--is top-notch as is their board wall. Black Sheep is located in a part of Charlotte not far off the interstate that is a bit west of downtown but has a really cool arts district with a lot of galleries and cafés nearby. read more

I was overcharged massively for a pair of sunglasses. I liked the sunglasses so much I went to the manufacturer's website to order another pair and saw that they are $15.00 and I was charged $30 before tax. They also failed to provide me with the accessories that would have come with the glasses if I bought them from the website. Make sure you look up the price before you buy from there. Was going to return them, but the receipt clearly states no returns or exchanges. read more

My favorite place to shop in Charlotte. Being from DC originally and just moving here a year and a half ago, I really missed palace 5ive and elite Boardshop. Black Sheep really helped fill that void for me. They have a great selection of shoes (i'm partial to Nike SBs...particularly the great SB exclusives and limited releases. they get them!) , skate clothing, decks, streetwear brands, hats and accessories. The layout is really cool too. They just renovated. And the fellas that run the shop are some of the nicest people that you'll ever meet. Really laid back, friendly, helpful. Always willing to order stuff for you if it's not available in your size. Really fun atmosphere. They have good deals on tees, sneakers and hats too. Black Sheep is an awesome skate shop!!!! The best one we have found in town. My only company would be...they do not have demo boards. I feel it is kind of hard to spend money on something you can not demo. Car, Bicycle heck you can even demo a tv. But not a board. The shop has a great selection of shoes and clothing. Has cool vibe to it. The staff was friendly and extreamlly helpful. We purchased two boards. One was a "trick" board the other was a board for cruising. Nike SB's galore; thank you Black Sheep! I have a wide foot and have always preferred the fit and style of the Nike SB lineup. Black sheep also stocks some great limited editions and speciality collections. The store is tight, but has an accommodating flow and layout. The guys were welcoming and alleviated the uncomfortable edge of walking into a new store for the first time. They helped me narrow down what I was looking for and never complained through my indecision. Prices are very reasonable, comparable with what you can find online. When Black Sheep opened up, it put Charlotte skateboarding on the map. Prior to that, there was a sparse, disjointed skate scene (if that, even). They brought everyone together and helped local rippers get some shine. The shop carries only great products (hard and soft goods). They do collaborations with large companies and have one of the best shoe walls. They throw events and support local artists. I live in NYC but visit Charlotte often and always stop in and buy something. read more

Awful experience with their "2-day" shipping and their terrible customer service. Completely unprofessional and inconsiderate. Their "priority 2-day shipping" ended up taking over a week...not because of USPS, but because Black Sheep took their precious time delivering my package to USPS. The worst part was how little Black Sheep cared about my situation. Will never order from their website again. Black Sheep, please hire some actual professionals who know how to provide real customer service. Thoroughly disappointed. read more

After recieveng zero customer service from another local shop (s/o to the homies who still haven't come thru on that special order I placed 12 months ago!) Black Sheep treated me right. Nice guys who took care of me even though I wasn't dropping a ton of $. They did some leg work to show me comparable products that they didn't normally even carry in the shop, and ended up ordering some special gear for me.
