Met with Brad today for the Yelp Elite event. He's been working for Enzo Custom for close to 4 years and knows both his product and the industry. Brad walked me through the options starting with the design. There were some key decisions I had not even considered - type of button, type of cuff, whether to have the collar stiffeners sewn in - and Brad walked me through all of those points. You're going to pay more than you would at Brooks Brothers or Charles Tyrwhitt but you're going to get a custom fit. Brad measures your neck, shoulders, chest, waist, shoulder spread, and arms. I may be forgetting a measurement! But if you want the shirt to look just like it was made for you this is the way to do it. Brad shared tons of fabric swatches for suits and shirts. The majority of the suits he crafts are 150s and 180s which are very soft and durable. You can even get 200s merino wool if you want a more luxurious suit. Visited Enzo Custom for the first time and was blown away with how cool this spot was! It's on the 22nd floor of an uptown building and has such a luxurious feeling to it! There are suits, jackets and shirts all across the space to give you inspiration for your personal custom item! As a woman, I got a longer, looser fit shirt that I could wear as a mini dress! I got to pick my fabric, button color, collar style, cuff style, and it comes with a round of revisions in case it doesn't fit me perfect the first round. Where to park was a bit complicated, but it didn't take me long to find my way. I was immediately greeted by Brad when I entered the boutique. He made me feel like his number one priority while I was there. Brad really personalized the experience by sharing some backstory on the shop and the company. I was personally fitted while overlooking the city and was given the option to select every detail of my custom order dress shirt, down to the buttons, collar stays, collar spread, fabric, pattern, etc. The fabric and button choices were almost overwhelming. It was difficult to even choose a collar option with only three options. Brad helped explain the features and benefits of each, along with current fashion trends. The fabrics were so luxurious and soft, yet many items are affordable for a working businessman. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my custom shirt and cannot wait to return. This is my first custom fitting. The Enzo location is in Uptown Charlotte, NC with easy parking and an incredible view. I met with Brad who patiently took the time to explain the whole process to me. He then asked me where I would be wearing my outfits and the types of events I would be attending. After going through a number of fabrics we chose three different fabrics for the jackets and a variety of fabrics for the custom shirts. The fitting process is very easy yet very detailed. I knew after the first fitting that everything was going to fit perfectly and the details would be incredible. In just a few weeks Brad received the jackets for me to come in for the final adjustments. Brads attention to detail and style are immaculate. His understanding of how the fabrics will fit in the different climates and venues helped immensely. He made a slight change to the sleeve length and had the final product shipped to my home. The jackets and shirts fit like a glove. I have never felt so comfortable and owe it all to Brad and Enzo. I can say for sure I will never buy another jacket or shirt off the rack again. The shirts are perfect.... The jackets are perfect. There is a huge difference between good and outstanding - this product and service is outstanding. The five stars is for Brad, who runs the Charlotte showroom and makes occasional appearances at their other sites. He is trustworthy, knowledgeable and passionate about about style in general and tailoring in particular, and is endlessly patient when working with customers to pick out a fabric and all the details that go into a garment. Most importantly, Brad asks a lot of questions about your lifestyle, job, events in your day to day life, and the state of your current wardrobe, in order to help you put together something that looks great, will never go out of fashion, and which you will happily wear until it disintegrates. From a technical standpoint, he has a great eye for sizing up a person's body and setting a garment's measurements to flatter the good while reducing the bad. This includes things like jacket length, lapel width, pants rise, etc., all of which can work to make a person look just a little bit more like Michelangelo's David. He'll generally discourage anything overly fashionable or gaudy, like sad skinny lapels, giant peak lapels, too-skinny jacket, contrast color buttonholes, things like that. Made-to-measure clothes can be great or can go sideways quickly, necessitating a remake, and which way things go depends entirely on the person you're working with. I can say with great confidence that Brad will get you where you want to go. Beyond the person, the rest of the Enzo operation is quite solid. They have access to the usual lineup of fabrics popular in the custom suit universe (VBC, Zegna, Scabal, Holland and Sherry, Loro Piana, Solbiati) as well as a selection of their house fabrics, and are pretty good at turning them into a well-constructed suit that you will enjoy for a long time. You have more fabric options and slightly more design choices than the custom programs that tailor shops and department stores host using the usual cast of suitmakers (Hickey Freeman, Samuelsohn, etc.), and they definitely blow your average online custom suit guys out of the water. They claim not to have a "house style" but their templates and fabric selection lean more Italian: the jackets are generally cut quite slim, with soft casual shoulders and lightweight canvas. You can ask for a highly structured, very militaristic English garment, and they'll make a brave effort at it, but the results have been a bit inconsistent for me. Some extra details: For new users, the garment usually fits pretty well straight away, but if necessary they have in-house tailoring to dial it in for you for free. Existing users can theoretically place orders remotely but in my experience that did not work all that well; an in-person visit to the showroom so that Brad can see how an existing Enzo garment fits on you is the best way to ensure your next order comes out nicely. Their prices are very competitive, supposedly on account of them also being a fabric merchant that can buy massive amounts of materials at a time; whatever their magic is, it works out for us. read more
