Alton Lane - Richmond - This is after two in-person fittings. The shirt is too large, too long, too baggy. This is not tailored in any way.

I intend to return to get help with other wardrobe items in the near future.

Our two experiences with Alton Lane have been far from satisfactory…read more The first purchase--a suit and dress shirts, resulted in dress shirts post-tailoring that were an inch too small around the neck. This was never corrected. Because the rest of the fit was good, we attempted to order shirts again but emphasize the neck size needed to be accurate. Though there was a record of the previous order and measurements and we repeatedly communicated that all except the neck was perfect, entirely new measurements were taken. After tailoring, the new shirts are far too long and baggy, not tailored in fit at all. The tailoring is laughable and frankly I cannot see any body type fitting appropriately. We also ordered two suit jackets on the second order. The length of the arms was specifically mentioned during the tailoring appointment. Not only are the arms too long, but the body is awkwardly tight at the waist while baggy in the shoulders and arms. For the $$$$ price of these items, we expect a premium result. Instead we have received clothing that fits more poorly than what we could buy at a department store. We are contacting and seeking a refund at this point because we don't trust the fitting of the clothes can be rectified. The review before ours mentioned shipping out of state. Our second order was shipped. Upon opening, the box was poorly packed. The jackets and shirts were poorly and loosely folded into the box, not inside travel bags, and with no additional packing paper to prevent movement. The items arrived wrinkled, dirty with cardboard pieces on them, and had fallen off the hangers they were apparently placed with. For spending thousands of dollars, we are shocked. Again, less care and poorer execution than we would even receive from a department store. Update: Their customer service has not reached out nor responded to our email to them. At this point, it is like we wasted $$$$. Update 2: After a discussion with customer service where the fit was confirmed inaccurate, we were offered store credit and a virtual fitting. We asked for a full refund to which they did not reply. We don't trust that any additional fittings, virtual or real, would help Alton Lane do a proper job

Looking for a colorful tie, a preppy belt, or a classy dress shirt? Peter Blair's the place to go…read more It's not cheap, but the items are high quality and will have the dapper dude in your life thanking you. I was on the search for a tie for my dad for my upcoming wedding, and knew that I wanted something bright and fun. Peter Blair was the first spot I thought of, and the first place I looked. I saw a few options I liked, and one tie I loved, but I decided I needed to do my due diligence and look elsewhere before pulling the trigger. Well, a few hours and multiple stores later, I wound up back at Peter Blair. I purchased the original tie that caught my eye, along with a colorful and fun pair of socks to complement the neckwear. I appreciated that the sales associates welcomed me when I entered, but when I told them I was just looking, they let me be. No pushiness or pressure to purchase, which of course made me more inclined to buy something. I was also uber impressed by the wrapping skills of the staff! They did a seriously professional wrap job with beautiful light green paper. That makes my gift-giving job even easier! I'm sure I'll be back when I'm on the hunt for new duds for my fiancé, and I definitely recommend this spot for solid neckwear.

By far the worst experience I've ever had with a tux rental. Got my measurements completely wrong…read moretwice, tux fit terribly, and three of the seven groomsmen in the wedding had similar or worse issues. When we called them to find a solution, the employee who picked up immediately went on the defense, said "it's not our fault," and didn't even offer to help us find a solution until someone finally convinced them to help out. Rent your suits or tuxes from literally anywhere else.

Don't waste your money. I've gotten better off the rack suits at Macy's than a Jos A Bank custom…read moresuit. I purchased a custom suit from this location about 3 months ago and wanted to wait until I wore it on numerous occasions. Custom tailored suits are supposed to look custom, but I can honestly say every time I put on my suit it looks like I'm swimming in it. When I got measured back in March, the salesman asked me what size pant I usually wear. I told him, and his response was, "well you must have put on some weight!" Not a good start and I had not. He didn't ask anything about what style I liked or anything. I have a narrow frame and many jackets look way too wide in the shoulders. While trying on the jackets to get a sense of what fits, I mentioned it to him and he said, "that's why you're getting custom. It will all look much better when it's tailored." Cool. Fast forward to the first fitting: the jacket was horribly wide and pants were WAY too baggy. I told him my concerns and he assured me (again) that these issues would be fixed with the final tailoring. Come my final fitting, things were looking better. HOWEVER the issues I mentioned in both of the previous fittings weren't properly taken care of. Shoulders way too wide. Pants way too baggy. Rise way too long. I mentioned it yet again and instead of trying to fix the issue, he brought over another sales associate to have him tell me that it looked "like it should." I don't care what either of their opinions were. I did not feel like it looked good and spent a decent amount of money on the suit. I had an event for which I purchased the suit the following weekend and it couldn't be tailored again in time. Also, they assured me that the issues I mentioned were not fixable, as the style of this suit wasn't a narrow shoulder and they didn't even carry shoulders as narrow as I wanted. Now, I need to wear a suit for work and every time I put on this suit I feel frustrated and end up opting for another in my closet I got off the rack at Dillards or Macy's.
