No one wants to have a root canal. But when that tooth pain just won't go away Dr. Bills is just…read morethe person you want to see. I had been a patient of hers several years ago and this is why I came back. I called on a Tuesday morning because my tooth pain was getting worse and worse. My regular dentist (who I should but won't name) kinda shrugged if off. He sent me on my way with a tube of Sensodyne. I was in luck that there was a cancellation and I went to Dr Bills office right away. It's a super convenient Cary location. All of her staff is super warm and caring. She even has a therapy dog on staff !!! She numbed me up really well and the procedure was painless. She and her assistant chat the entire time so that really keeps your mind off of what is going on in your mouth. I would so HIGHLY recommend Dr Bills and her staff. A root canal isn't really that bad.

I have spent the past month of my life in hell. It all started with a filling 2 months ago. That…read morefilling caused me such extreme cold sensitivity that it made me tear up drinking iced tea. Ice cream? Forget about it. The dentist said it was normal, it would go away. Fine, I would wait. Then I was waking up in the middle of the night with the worst pain I have ever experienced in that side of my face. Both the top and the bottom of my mouth. Dentist said I was grinding my teeth. Gave me a night guard. Night guard didn't work, dentist said I probably had a sinus infection because looking at the x-rays, my teeth were perfectly healthy. (I'm glad they looked healthy, they felt like they were about to explode but thanks for that.) I went to the doctor. Not a sinus infection. Dentist referred me to a TMJ specialist. Instead I looked on the internet and found Dr. Bills. Dr. Bills and her staff started off on the right foot by TALKING to me. Asking what was going on, explaining things that the dentist didn't bother explaining to me. Then she tapped on my teeth and sprayed water on them. The whole problem with my mouth? One tooth. The tooth that was filled 2 months prior. It would need a root canal. They didn't have any openings for 2 weeks, but since I was in pain for over a month, they made one. I don't like dentists. I especially don't like the idea of a root canal. I had never had one, I was scared to death. I told Dr. Bills that I would prefer to be put under. She disagreed, telling me it wasn't as bad as I thought and that it would cost extra and instead she could give me Valium for free (even though she thought I didn't even need that.) So I reluctantly agreed. She's the expert, right? So my parents took me in that day since I couldn't drive myself on the Valium. I was relaxed. High as a kite, really. I am not kidding ONE BIT when I say that I have had TEETH CLEANING that were more painful than Dr. Bills' ROOT CANAL. Just the tiniest prick from the needle (and really, it was the least painful needle prick I've ever felt) was the only thing I ever felt. I think I might have ever gone to sleep during part of the procedure. And thanks to the valium, I slept for 4 hours, woke up with the numbing effect worn off. The procedure was at 6:45 am, and I have not had any pain killers since. Around lunch time I ate ice cream. I nearly cried. Not in pain, though. Quite the opposite. Dr. Bills is the real deal, y'all.

He takes such a gentle approach, careful to prevent any kind of dental trauma from occurring. His expertise is phenomenal and his communication is outstanding. He cares for his patients at all hours of the day and night, providing his cell number and he texts back answers to questions or calls back to go over prescription options if a medication is needed. He provides the most personal VIP service I have ever experienced from any doctor I have ever seen. He takes the time to go over everything in detail explaining each step of the way and doesn't mind going off track to answer my questions or my son's questions as they come up. He is just incredible with my son, speaking to him with respect and using calming words to help him understand and relax, which I appreciate so much! His front desk staff is also very kind, very helpful, and wonderful to work with in setting appointments and helping get answers to any additional questions. I highly recommend Dr. Johnson and his office for his Endodontist services. We found a true gem in Raleigh!

New in town, hard to know how to choose the right dentist…read more When I called Triangle Family Dentistry on Carpenter Fire Station Road, I spoke to a gentleman who was so assuring that Dr. Smith would be a great match with my particular needs. So first visit Ashley was awesome with my periodontal cleaning ( I get those 4x per year) She was gentle, knowledgeable, kind, professional and efficient! I met my dentist, Matt and asked about a couple crowns. He assured he could do it and today he did, with the assistance of Mia! I believe it was the smoothest crown work I've ever had. I never even felt a needle go in for the numbing. I had a particularly difficult kind of old crown to take off but he was completely confident and I felt very comfortable the whole time. Ashley, Mia, and Matt were very attentive to my neck problems and made sure I was comfortable through both those procedures. The facility itself is just gorgeous. There is a grand of coffee in the lobby. Plus water. Lobby comfy, roomy, and well furnished. Receptionists, check out staff, everyone professional and kind. I am thrilled to have found my dental care providers! Parking is at a premium, but a few more yards to walk is not a big deal!

I simply cannot believe they would treat a patient in acute pain this way. The reception staff couldn't even offer a reasonable alternative time slot; they simply presented me with a *fait accompli*--that they couldn't see me. Consequently, I was forced to cancel the appointment. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

When you're in a true dental emergency, you don't just need a dentist--you need a human being who…read moregenuinely cares. That's exactly what we found with Optimum Family Dental... and why we'll never go anywhere else. My husband Chris was in severe pain on a Saturday, and we were honestly expecting to struggle to find help. Instead, the dentist personally called him, took the time to walk through every option, and stayed on the phone answering questions with patience, clarity, and real compassion. When the pain became unbearable and Chris decided the tooth needed to be pulled, the doctor did something you rarely see anymore--he stayed open so my husband could come in and be treated. That level of dedication is extraordinary. But what truly sets this practice apart isn't just how they show up in an emergency--it's who they are, period. From the moment Chris walked in, the entire staff was warm, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. They immediately put him at ease during what could have been a very stressful experience. The dentist was not only skilled and gentle, but kind, reassuring, and even brought humor into the situation--which made all the difference. This is the kind of place you don't just go to when something is wrong--this is the dentist you want all the time. The kind you trust for your family, your routine care, and anything unexpected. If you're looking for a dentist who combines expertise, compassion, and true integrity--stop searching. You've found it. We are beyond grateful--and now lifelong patients.
