Very friendly staff. Very friendly endodontist. I didn't feel a thing when he did the root canal. Recovery was like it never happened.

I was referred to Dr. Stancill by my dentist's office staff. He wasn't the endodontist my dentist…read morerecommended, probably some friend of theirs. But as I was leaving, the office staff whispered to me that the BEST in Raleigh was Dr. Stancill on Lake Boone Trail. I immediately called and gave them a heads up that I am a complete terrified baby at the dentist. That I needed a root canal drilled thru a porcelain crown, hopefully without breaking it because I couldnt afford another, and I can't deal with pain. Their team was soooo comforting the minute I walked in, Dr. Stancill was amazing, his staff sat and even held my hand and distracted me while he worked (lmao...such a baby)...and he was literally done during the time I thought he was just doing prep work. I couldn't believe it when he told me it was over. I didn't feel a thing, my mouth never swelled up, I went home that night with no further issues. I was in shock. I immediately recommended Dr. Stancill to a coworker who was as chicken as I was and had been putting off a root canal. He also got an appointment quickly, and was back to work the next day, same result. No pain. Dr. Stancill has the latest equipment. He is so smooth. I'm not looking forward to ever having a root canal again, but if I do...I'm calling Dr. Robert Stancill 100%. This man is brilliant and pain free.

I needed a root canal and Raleigh Endodontics were in-network with Delta Dental (my insurance at…read morethe time). I called and they were able to schedule me for an appointment just a few days away, fantastic considering another endodontist I called couldn't see me for weeks. The office assistant, Amber I think, was very informative and answered all my questions. I was pleasantly surprised to find they would do the consultation and treatment at the same appointment, saving me time and getting the problem fixed sooner! When I arrived for my appointment Covid protocol was in place but very easy to comply with. The technician, Kim, was very informative and courteous as she prepped me for the examination and then the treatment. I felt so comfortable and fully informed for my entire appointment. The doctor was also very informative and took time to answer my questions before treatment began. The treatment itself went very well. The doctor kept me informed the whole time and let me know when he was halfway done and when there was 10 mins left. Doing this eased my mind. They also checked in with me throughout treatment to make sure I was comfortable which was great. Post-treatment, Kim the technician taught me helpful jaw stretches and gave me information on managing the soreness I would likely feel for the next few days. The day after treatment, Amber the office assistant called to check in on me. Overall I am very pleased with my experience at Raleigh Endodontics. The entire staff is kind, courteous, and professional. While I hope I don't need another root canal again, if I did I would definitely consider coming back because this team was great!

Dr.Dalzell started a root canal on an abscessed tooth, failed to drain the abscess , perforated the…read moretooth in the process, failed to tell me, and told me the next appt. was 11 days later. The pain started that evening went v. quickly to extreme pain and extreme swelling /numbness/redness/heat/throbbing etc. My face looked as if it had a golf ball in my mouth, by day 7. I called every day for the next week for him to look at it, yet never had an appt. I had been told to call immediately if I should have any swelling or pain( have never had any with other root canals-this was extreme). I filed a complaint with the NC Dental Board. After many months of deliberation they came to the conclusion that he had done nothing wrong! I had lost 2 teeth directly from the neglect and massive infection, and now needed implants. Refusing care to a patient with all the signs of a massive infection and doing NOTHING is OK with the NCDB??? Had recently moved from IN, and when I came still had all my own teeth. I was then told on leaving to pay the full amount v. the 2 x installments that Meredith and I had agreed upon. He now had a signed bill for a full root canal, which he had not done. When I tried to get my money back from my credit card company, he refused b/c on day 7 I went elsewhere (and was immediately referred to an oral surgeon for extraction) . My payment was refunded , but after learning of this, Dr.Dalzell then told them he had done a full root canal, they returned the money to him. 1 of many lies to come. He then told the NC DB I had been given 3 appts, and refused them all-as if I would have done that after calling every day to get an appt!!!! His website claims to have daily emergency time-not so! My teeth have been wrecked, and I have 20K in bills, ongoing. The lies Dr.Dalzell has told are outrageous yet the dental board still side with the dentist, and i their wisdom decided that losing 2 teeth ( the next one to it also needed extracting, as the infection spread) was a case of 'he said: she said'!!!! The CEO of the NCDB then investigated and sent a letter to me saying that what happened was actually nothing I had ever mentioned in my original complaint !!!!!! Regardless of what caused the massive infection, it needed treating that next day and then I might have only needed the root canal on an abscessed tooth that I went to him for in the first place!!!!! The fact that the board will NOT address is that WHATEVER caused the pain starting the evening of that first visit needed treating ASAP to avoid a potentially fatal infection!!!!!! I have NEVER in 6 plus decades on this planet come across ANY healthcare professional who refuses to treat a patient , KNOWING daily of an EVER WORSENING situation and gets away with it because the dental board are failing in their mission to protect the people of NC from impaired dental professionals! I am beyond disgusted and if anyone local knows of a good dental malpractice lawyer or expert witness who will stand against a colleague who is guilty of malpractice, please reply. Here. Thank-you!

Where do I start?…read more Let me start by saying I can't say enough good things about Doctor Sopko and his staff. His office is staffed by very professional people and runs like a well-oiled clock. Very organized. How it all started. On Saturday I was experiencing mild tooth discomfort, but by Monday I needed an emergency dental appointment. My dentist, Dr. Yiming "Jimmy" Zhang, whose office was closed and scheduled to be closed for the next few weeks, graciously came in and opened the office just for me. He quickly determined that I needed to see an endodontist--and not just any endodontist. He called Doctor Sopko and in my opinion, Dr. Sopko is the best. He strives for excellence and has a compassionate, patient-centered approach. He is a advocate for community care and has been a cornerstone of Wake Smiles, where he has provided his professional services since 2006. In addition he also serves as the Vice Chairperson of the Wake Smiles Board of Directors, helping to provide dental care to those who otherwise would not be able to afford it. He also has an advanced certification in Endodontics from the University of Maryland. He has a gentle demeanor and high-quality outcomes, is concerned about his patients' comfort and well-being, ensuring that every individual receives the highest standard of care. He has all the latest advancements and equipment in dentistry. Doctor Sopko was out of town when my dentist called him and would be returning later that night. An emergency appointment was set up for Tuesday at 12:15P when his office would be open and you can bet I cleared my schedule and I was there. First impressions are very important and Nikki who is the patient coordinator certainly had that in spades. She greeted me with a smile, made eye contact with me, listened to what I had to say, acknowledged she heard what I said, responded accordingly, and used my name. Even though I had an emergency appointment she or any of the staff didn't make me feel like I was an inconvenience. I sat and waited and shortly my name was being called by Zoe, Dental Assistant I. She walked me to the room where all the magic happens and sat me in the dental chair. Her demeanor quickly put me at ease. She had good people skills, explained what was happening, what was going to happen, and what I needed to do when I left the office. Doctor Sopko determined which tooth it was and set me up for the root canal right then and there. During the root canal Zoe was right there next to Doctor Sopko but they were so much in tune with each other it seemed like only one person was working in my tooth. What a great team. When it was all over I was given instructions by Zoe and now have an appointment with my dentist to get a crown on that same tooth. Life is good!

I found him on the…read moreDelta Dental web site because I needed someone who would bill BOTH of my Delta Dental insurances. When I first called to inquire about their billing and insurance practices, Dr. Johnson answered the phone himself personally, which I was impressed with (he has a secretary/office manager who is also very nice and who I've reached on subsequent calls). I confirmed that they would bill both a primary and secondary insurance, and scheduled a consultation to determine if the root canal was truly necessary. When I arrived, the office was really nicely furnished and you could tell he takes a lot of pride in his practice. The x-ray machines were in these nice wooden cases on the wall that could be closed up when not in use. When I was seated and waiting for my consult, there were individual TVs suspended from the ceiling for each chair and I could change the channel to watch whatever I wanted during the wait (which was brief). Dr. Johnson himself is a fantastic endodontist. He takes the time to explain everything he's doing, answered every question I had, and has a very calming demeanor. My favorite part of the visits (both the consultation and the root canal itself) was when he transferred the digital X-rays to the TV in front of the chair to point out all the details of what he would be doing and then subsequently did during the appointment. The numbing that he did during my actual root canal was great, and I felt very minimal discomfort. There was really calming music playing during my root canal that nearly put me to sleep, which is a testament to how painless the procedure itself was (and my lack of sleep the night before). Highly recommended on all fronts.
