I tried other stores, but couldn't find anything that fit (I'm a US 10-12 with a large bust), and they kept suggesting the same size tops which I literally struggled to get on, let alone zipped. I left feeling dejected, but when I walked into Uma's shop she was immediately warm, helpful, and honest. She let me know buying a lehenga off the rack would be difficult because they are smaller sizes with no stretch, and recommended a saree instead. She was funny and honest without making me feel shame about my body. She helped me find a fabric I loved and taught me how to wrap it. Only thing to note--I initially told her 100-150 budget and the saree ended up being 200+ including the top and the petticoat, so just be aware that the saree price doesn't include the other items necessary to wear it.

After shopping around on the street there are other business that have better quality and treat you with respect.

She bragged about her 25 years of business experience but had the worst customer service attitude imaginable. We went to this store with my family to shop for clothes. The arrogant woman working there showed us three dresses and started making judgmental comments. Her first comment was, "We can't open every dress to try. You can put it against your body to see if you like it." Then, she started pushing my daughters to buy the dress she was forcing on them. When my daughter said she wasn't sure about it, she made a second comment, "Then why did you try it on if you weren't sure about it?" I was done with her stupid attitude and just wanted to avoid any more ridiculous comments. So, I asked her to give me the prices for the dresses so we could decide if we were interested. She quoted some ridiculous prices (4-8 times higher than what we could find at Devon Stores). I told her that we would check out a few other places to make sure my family didn't feel pressured to buy these clothes. The lunatic woman flipped and started making even more judgmental comments. She said, "I had the feeling that you couldn't buy these expensive dresses from the beginning." She then said, "Why would you make me take out the dresses from the hangers if you couldn't buy them?" And finally, she said, "Buy something that's in your budget. Why look for expensive clothes?" I can't imagine that she had the guts to speak to her customers like that! She should be ashamed of herself and deserves to lose her job or business. Nobody deserves that kind of treatment. During our visit, she mentioned that they used to have three store locations, but two of them shut down. I'm sure they lost their two stores because of their messed-up attitude towards their customers. They're unbelievably pushy, arrogant, and judgmental lunatics. Everything is custom-fit and custom-made from the highest quality standard materials that I've ever seen. I love the process from start to finish. Going through the books and samples and picking out the materials and designs. Coming in for the fittings. And then eventually walking out with my new swag and then wearing it for the first time. Just as impressive is the customer service and pride they take in their work. They were then unresponsive after several (4+) repeated emails and a phone call and they did not have the suit ready by the deadline, so I had to get a suit from a different shop. They then assured me that they would have the alterations finished 2 weeks afterwards in June. It is now September 2026 and they have let me know that they did not even start these alterations. More broadly, It has been over a year since the construction of the suit and Richard Bennet Tailors does not have a suit that fits me yet. I do not have confidence in this tailor based on my personal experience and am quite disappointed. I write this wishing that the experience was instead positive.

At my wife's suggestion I brought three of mine to Zan Atelier to see if they could work. The owner, Nazia, primarily does wedding dress alterations, which is much more complicated than altering my suits, but Nazia was "on it." She has a great eye and immediately recognized the the shoulders were too big, and could be shortened to fit my body better. Altough not inexpensive, she refitted all suits for far less than purchasing one new one. I'm so happy that I've already brought her my old summer linen blazer, and new slacks to alter. I trust her much more than the tailors at department stores. She's a great find.
