Now to the details! I did a thorough online search to find a place to go to where I may have luck finding "the dress"! My search resulted in this website listing. I loved the concept that it was a consignment shop that included new and vintage dresses. The reviews were very good. I had just had an engagement party a few days before so I decided to make my appointment since I was still on a high from the celebration. Kelly is the owner and when I made the initial appointment weeks prior, she was friendly. She asked me to call on the day of my appointment to confirm that I'm still coming and if I'm bringing someone. When I called on the day of, I didn't want to get off the phone with her! She was a wealth of so much information as she has been in business over 20 years! What I liked is that she will give you great saving tips that bridal salons won't. For example, she would suggest shopping around on a website like Amazon for dress/jewelry accessories or actually comparing the price of her dresses to other bridal salons. I actually did that and found I was really saving about $700 on my dress and dress accessories. Masks are REQUIRED!! Unfortunately I was traveling in rush hour traffic and construction and was going to be a 1/2 late. Called Kelly, left a message. She called back, was very understanding and told me she would see me when we got there. My nerves calmed, LOL. When I finally arrived with my friend on 9/14/21, the place on the outside looked really small but when you walk in, you see all of these gorgeous dresses in the front of the store and then many many more in the back. I was so excited!! I immediately liked that we were the only ones in the shop so we had her full attention. When you're in a bridal salon, there are always additional brides there also looking and trying on dresses so the focus isn't solely on you. Kelly first had to figure out my wedding dress size because you know it's different from your normal dress size. She then started bringing some dresses out based on the requested pictures I sent to her of dress styles I liked. I tried on some beautiful dresses but unfortunately they were too big. Then the straight dresses I tried on were too small because of how my shape is. I wanted to consider the dresses I liked that were too big but Kelly advised me that it's best to find a dress that is actually my size. The alterations would be really costly I'm sure. It was getting near closing time and Kelly told me that I now have an idea of what kind of dress looks good on me and approximate size. I was a little sad because it seemed like the end of the road. But!! Kelly showed me one last dress that was about 2 sizes smaller than the smallest size dress I tried on. I told her "hey, let's see! Let me try it on." I tried it on and Kelly was able to zip it up all the way! When I looked at myself in the mirror, I just about cried! Kelly was excited for me, had me pose and everything! She let me actually look at the tag to see what the designer's regular price is and then told me what she would sell it for me for which was extremely affordable and an added plus was that it actually was a new dress. I was saving so much money! Kelly didn't PRESSURE ME which I so appreciated. She told me to sleep on it and decide. I couldn't stop thinking about the dress! I actually found a bridal salon who had the same dress and for my size was actually charging more money than the original designer price on the tag that Kelly showed me. There was only one of that dress so I immediately called her the next day to tell her I wanted the dress. She even has layaway!! She later told me that she was glad that I decided to get the dress because it was gorgeous on me. NOTE: the photos I shared are not of my actual dress but ones I tried on to show you styles of what they have. I will update with photos of my "yes" dress after my wedding. I warmed up to her so much I wanted to invite her to the wedding. The shop is about 40 minutes away from me in good traffic but it was so worth the drive. I Do Consignment shop gave me the best experience and I assure you it will for you too. Plus sizes are available! Operating hours are great as she has days that she is open till late evening for convenience. The money I saved I am happy to say went toward the deposit for our wedding photographer which is a big deal because wedding expenses add up very quickly. Taj Sari Palace didn't have cholis in my friend's size. Regal had them for only $7 apiece, Taj Sari Palace was selling the exact same thing for $20 apiece. English language is good at Regal and the service very attentive. The fact that we finally found our friend a choli, after spending all day on Devon looking for cholis, earns them 5 stars. Hopefully somebody on Devon will read this and realize there is a market out there for cholis.

The fittings were nearly perfect. My only reason for 4 vs 5 stars is bc I did have to get another set of alterations after receiving the dress. There was a deep V cut that I wanted to sew up/make a little more family appropriate. In doing this, they forgot to adjust the remaining blouse - they sewed up the middle which left awkward holes in the arms and looked off/very loose. It would've been useful to have another chat on this. Tho I think this is more of an issue with the Riddhi Mehra team than Studio East. Other than this, the dress was perfect - came exactly how it was pictured and amazing quality. Big thanks to Mina and team!! Two years ago I repaired two broken ankle bracelets at this store and right before closing the store manager noticed three teens entering the store and didn't even warn me to return to my table at the front where my backpack, my pyrenees and my free people back full of belongings were. She and her associate just watched unemotionally as I begged the one teen not to leave with my bag and chased him down an alley all by myself. One sweet woman in the alleyway grabbed the kid but he kept running and the police outside were also unhelpful and wouldn't take my name and information for a police report because they said they were too busy. I called the police from my smartphone but no one arrived. I was exhausted and sad and traumatized and I asked the manager that evening why she hadn't locked the door for my safety since I was the last customer that evening and they were close to closing anyway and she shrugged her shoulders non chalantly and said it's a fire hazard to lock the doors. I was given footage and photos of these kids so I uploaded the images on the Nextdoor app hoping someone would recognize the teens so I could press charges and get names for the police. The owner offered me $25 and begged me to remove the incident from the Nextdoor App permanently so I honored her wishes and Yesterday when I wanted to repair two anklets again the manager screamed at me and told me I had been permanently banned because I had defamed them on the Nextdoor App. First of all I was trying to get help from the neighbors in the Ukrainian Village area and the neighbors stated multiple stores do get targeted on Division Street by teens who target shoppers and store owners. Secondly I wasn't dissuading people from shopping there. Before the theft I always enjoyed picking out beads and found it relaxing to put back together my anklets and I shopped there often or whenever I was in the neighborhood. I didn't realize the owner was paying me $25 to never come back but that's exactly what the manager said to me yesterday evening so in honor of their wishes I will not shop there again. It's odd how they were more concerned about their "reputation " than the well being of the customers. I feel they lack empathy especially for their female customers and supposedly this boutique is female run and owned. Relaying a true story and making sure others are safe is important to me. If they knew that store owners are being targeted by teens along Division street they should have warned me not to leave any of my personal belongings on the work table with my dog unattended. They could have locked the door for my protection!

I was a bit surprised to not find more jewelers - most pieces that are in the store, you've already seen on their IG. There's not many pieces that you haven't seen. There were definite collections (some by the owner Viviana) but I was expecting more options for the large space. Their bridal case is gorgeous with several of options to get your creative mind going- both for engagement rings and wedding bands. Very cool alternatives to "mall jewelry stores"! Yes yes yes! I walked out with a teeny charm to add to my neck mess and a curb chain earring. The curb chain earring was 14k gold with a CZ at the end with a pricing just under $300. Pairing real with not real was a bit silly to me, I wanted either less (vermeil with the CZ) or more (14k with a diamond... I also still purchased because it was so damn cool. Cool pieces, cool staff, cool interior! You could just as easily shop their IG but going in to shop is fun!
