BEWARE of Refinery Road VETERINARY CLINIC. I hate giving negative reviews but under the circumstances I have no choice. The admin staff lie to their customers. I caught them several times, then I asked for explanations and they got hostile. Rude, liars... They need to get new admin staff. They have no customer service skills. They lie and then they deny lying. It's the craziest thing I've ever witnessed. Rude. I've been a customer too long to be treated so poorly. Costco is a LOT CHEAPER on prescription medications. RRV makes it nearly impossible to get the prescription printed and/or sent to Costco. Some hogwash line that they can't do it to it and another lie; it takes days to get the prescription processed. RRV made it so hard to get a prescription printed out, they want you to purchase prescription medications from them for a lot more money. And their famous line is....it's against the law! This is a complete and honest review of my first experience at this vet clinic. To be clear when I refer to "him" I'm talking about my dog. I've excluded his name for privacy. Appointment set at 9:40, I got there early and they put me in a room at 9:35 ish, and the tech/assistant saw me at 10:30 ish. She did inform me that they were short staffed that day. I was in no rush so, I was very concerned about my dog, and I had no plans that day so I was willing to wait as long as it took. I have a 40 lb. herding dog who can be neurotic and has fear aggression, I informed the assistant of this and she was understanding and empathizing, she told me she has one of her own so she understood. She asked if she could muzzle him and I said yes, because I know my dog and I don't want any incidents. He came back with the muzzle off and they said he did really well behavior wise. Which is generally the case everywhere I take him, he wants to love everyone and do good but he is just riddled with anxiety. I am always very careful to warn the vet and tech(s) of his behavior issues to help prevent anything from happening. My dog returning without the muzzle says to me that they won't muzzle a problematic dog if they don't need to, and that they care about the comfort of the dog during their visit. I spoke with the vet for maybe 3 minutes, but both the vet and the assistant were really informative, straightforward, professional, and kind. While I love going to the vet and not needing to spend much money, I had bloodwork and X-rays done, which were both pretty expensive. Upon finding out why my dog was sick I think that they were completely necessary and potentially life-saving screenings. I wanted to update all of my dogs shots and they suggested I wait until he got better from being sick so his immune system didn't get overwhelmed. This seemed like another good indicator of them caring about his overall health. TLDR; - I did wait for an hour past my scheduled appointment time, but they informed me they were short staffed and apologized for the wait. - the vet tech/assistant is the one you speak to for 90% of the visit - my dog has behavior issues and they were considerate about me asking to do things in the way i believed would be the safest and most comfortable for my dog and the people working there. I was also very open to doing what they believed would be best because they're the professionals. - They recommended waiting to update his shots until he wasn't sick anymore - this tells me they care for his overall health and well-being. all in all, a great first visit. Sadly I had to put my dog down recently due to bone cancer. Luckily I went to Refinery Road vet! They were so incredibly nice. Very sweet before, during and after. When I picked up his ashes and clay paw print, they included ink paw prints, his nose print and a little vile of his fur. Later I got a card in the mail, signed by the staff. I have been taking my animals here off and on for years. For the most part, I have had decent service and animal care. I just had a Terrible Experience with one of the OWNERS. Dr. Anna Godwin. I brought my 13 week old mini Aussie doodle for his vaccinations and also to check his right ear. She was rude and offered no commmunication, connection or education about what she was going to do. Her bed side manner was the worst I have ever experienced. She seemed like she was bothered and in a rush. I expect a certain level of care and rapport when it comes to interactions with another professional. She should be ashamed of her demeanor and attitude. I hope her business partners are aware of her behavior. She did not examine his ear. She just responded with doodle breeds get ear issues and dismissed it. When she implanted his Microchip, it hurt him so bad he defected and urinated! I would have liked to have known, to be prepared that it would cause him that amount of pain and visceral reaction. A little communication goes a long way! She made No eye contact or connection with me through out our brief interaction. However, The staff were amazing! The vet tech was very approachable and her communication was stellar! She kept apologizing for the Dr.'s behavior. That is the only reason I will return but If I do then I will try to make a point to not have an appointment with Dr Godwin as my veterinarian. read more

Refinery Road used to be such a wonderful, and caring veterinary clinic. My parents used to go from Argyle, I go from Aubrey, my husband's family from Muenster and Nocona. And Candy Mercer from Gainesville who raises border collies, and has horses. Well I can't speak for all of them but I can for myself and since the old Vet has left and they moved into the new building they have changed drastically. Gone are the caring vet techs and Vets. My dog had to have surgery a year ago because she had a deadly infection in her uterus and it was going to cost $400 and I didn't have it all so they sent us home and told me to bring her back when I had the whole $400. And since the surgery she has had lumps that have Abcessed and I called because I can't afford another vet bill and was hoping they would she her and they told me that I would be charged and not to bring her until I can pay. I am so incensed by this I am tempted just to drive the 38 miles and take her in the office anyway. Or she can just die of septic infection because I don't have The money to get her treatment! read more

Fantastic Veterinary Office. For my first visit my cat escaped his carrier, and I had my soon to be four year old and 12 week old puppy too. The entire staff came out to help me find my outside insde Orange cat. After crawling through the woods my cat came back with me, and everything was great! Gainesville is the best. read more

I took two pups in for a wellness checkup, I had never been there before. The female vet came in the room, never introduced herself, never touched the dogs to look at ears ,eyes, teeth absolutely truly never touched them except to give them a shot. I(t's like taking your child in and the dr never touching them.) I had to ask if she was the vet. She acted like she was very rushed and didn't have much time. I was disappointed to say the least. I will stick to my Vet in Ft. Worth he at least acts like he cares. The vet tech was very nice and actually did act like she cared, the staff at the front desk never even spoke!! read more

Dr. Godwin, Dr. Leach and Dr. Horn are skilled and compassionate. But, almost more important, the staff members are wonderful. These people spend more time with our pets and their caring attitude makes all the difference. read more

went back today after having a not so positive experience with the vet last time but they helped me and made this experience a good one and put my mind at a little more ease with my sick cat and gave her a different treatment that i was a lot more comfortable with . i understand vets see a lot of peol and wasn't looking for red carpet treatment but i at least wanted to be treated like I was heard and I'm 43 not 5 and my animals are my babies . Took our dog Jack a nine year old Pit Bull to Cactust clinic in St Jo Tx . The vets from refinery rd own that clinic. Not sure which vet it was that treated Jack but he saved his life. I had been in and out of a couple local clinics paid enormous amounts of money with no change in Jack's health. He had a very bad skin infection and was down from 85 # to around 50 with hardly any hair left. He could not eat and barely got around. This vet prescribed a months supply of medicine. Told us how to care for him. In one month he had all his hair back and weighed around 80#. The cost was on third what I was paying for a visit at the other vets. I was just about ready to put my old friend down before they saved his life. Best vets in the world. Also Cactust clinic loves all there patients like their own. We are about to leave town and Refinery rd is going to board both our animals I know they will be in good hands. So blessed to have found the wonderful people. Thanks Rex Copeland. read more

I Visited the Gainesville clinic last week with a friend to see what the Staff was like. Very Unfriendly group of Employees. I informed the employee at the front desk that I was looking to acquire a Dog and looking for a good caring clinic. She was very unfriendly and not interested in my questions. So I sat and just watched the other employees interact with other customers. This is not a happy environment nor good customer service, not one Smile from anyone! read more

First and LAST visit! We had the worse experience I have ever had with a vet clinic. We took our dog, who was a drop off, in to have him fixed, checked for heartworms and shots. We left him for his surgery at the Gainesville clinic and picked him up later that afternoon. His surgery was done but the vet and techs were at the clinic in St. Jo and were not available to talk. We had not seen the vet at all during our visit and the receptionist could not tell us anything about our dog but "would call St. Jo if we needed her to". How old did they think he was? Why was the doctor and techs in ST. Jo? If they are there, where did our dog have his surgery? Why did you send us home without his shot tags or paperwork and forget to charge us for them and required us to drive all the way back up there to get the tags and pay for it the next day? And the vet was unavailable again the next day to talk to us about our dog. I have never been to the vet and not spoken with my vet. Also we bought the heartworm medication from them but they did not bother to explain how to administer it or that we needed to bring him back in in 6 months to make sure he is heartworm negative. My husband said the receptionist got snotty with him when he started asking questions. This clinic is unorganized, uncaring, unavailable, unprofessional, and I would not take a pet fly there. My husband actually text me on his way home from the second visit and said "I'm just glad this horrible experience is over. We will never go back". Very disappointed. read more

I've spent hundreds of dollars here over past 90 days with 2 cats & was happy with the service UNTIL NOW. After initial appointment on Monday afternoon, I returned on Friday morning. The identical symptoms were unchanged & I expected the vet to do some kind of test to get to the cause of symptoms as indicated in the initial consultation. Dr Horn walked in reading notes from Monday visit. He talked over me as I spoke, seemed very rushed & grabbed my cat for an infusion of fluids. Returned & said buy more expensive food similar to that which my cat refused to eat earlier in the week. He then charged me for a full price initial examination. I thought it was an accident & pointed it out. Dr Horn said it was his first time to see my cat so he was charging for new examination. Now, the vet that I saw on Monday was there, but she wasn't assigned to me. They're in process of building a big new building next door so you can put 2 + 2 together. Interestingly, my cat's symptoms are unchanged 2 days later so I now must make a third appointment to get tests done...cha ching cha ching. This will no doubt be another new examination.
