I try to avoid writing negative reviews but I just experienced a horrific customer service situation at Refine. I will start this off by saying this is not a review of the actual service, just how I was treated. Full disclosure: I had started the HCG diet treatment at a different facility and experienced something abnormal with my menstrual cycle that I was concerned about. My doctor happened to be out of office, and I made the mistake of diving into the internet to see what others experienced. This was a big mistake...I read some horror stories that sent me into an anxious spiral, and I needed to talk to someone immediately, I could not wait for my doctor to return the following day. When I called Refine, Dr. Vulich picked up the phone and immediately said in a very rude tone that she was in the middle of a patient session, and asked what I wanted. First, if you are in the middle of a session and can't talk, why would you answer? I was thrown off, and started to explain that I was hoping to speak with someone about an HCG diet question when she interrupted to ask if I was trying to sell her something. Again, I was shocked by her tone and rude accusation. I then tried to again explain that I had gotten myself worked up over an unusual situation and could not get in touch with my direct doctor, and while I understand that she is not my doctor, was wondering if she could at least share if she had heard things like this happening to others on the HCG diet. Full disclosure, my unusual circumstance was irregular spotting/early start of menstrual cycle. Dr. Vulich began reprimanding me on the phone saying things like "its not cool and out of line" to ask her such a thing given she is not my doctor. I will say that given my anxious state of worrying about the situation, her reprimand and tone made me incredibly upset and caused me to cry. If Dr. Vulich was uncomfortable answering my question, she could have politely said just that. I spoke with a different med spa doctor shortly after who was incredibly helpful and kind. They explained that early menstruation/spotting is very common within the second week of HCG and they went on to say that while it would be good for me to discuss with my doctor, since they have not treated me, this is something they do see frequently in their own patients. That is all I needed to hear. I did not need a guarantee on anything, I just needed to be treated with compassion during the time that I was concerned so that I could remain calm until speaking with my doctor the next day. I was looking for a new med spa for a hydra facial and some other services, but after this experience, I will certainly not come to Refine for anything. read more

I have been going to Refine Med Spa for years. My favorite treatments are Dermaplane, Silk peel, and Botox. A couple times a year I may get some Juvederm for my lips, but seems I don't have to get it as frequently since the new Juvederm Dr. Vulich used on me has lasted so long I can't remember the last time I needed it. Refine Med Spa is the only place I trust with my face. I have seen too many friends end up with an unfavorable results from other places. They have a rewards program with Brilliant Distinctions which is easy to use and very generous. I drive over an hour to see Dr. Vulich and her team of experts. If you are thinking of trying them out I recommend trying some of the different facials suited for your needs and definitely end with some Botox. Takes years off ! read more

I thought this place offered some of the best dermal filler services I've seen yet in Chicago. In a few weeks, I will be reaching an age which I am really not looking forward to. I came to Refine based on the suggestion of my brother. Over time, skin looses volume in the cheek and eye area due to collagen loss. A long story short, I wanted to have some work done and restore a little volume to my face. The place is extremely professional, from the staff working at the front desk, to their doctor. The doctor was very honest with me and suggested that I did not need much work done, but did suggest I try Radieese to help with eye bags. I've worked for many years in clubs and suffer from really bad seasonal allergies. After the free consultation, I thought about the treatment and scheduled an appointment for a few days later. Dr. Vonich was very good about explaining the entire procedure before she started. I did one syringe of Raidesse to restore fullness to eye hollows. The effects were almost instantaneous. I would have to say that I look a good six to seven years younger. What I found most impressive was that they actually called me a few days later, just to see how I was doing. This is very rare to find at most medical spas in Chicago. If you are looking for any kind of skin or facial treatments to help you look a little younger, I would highly recommend Refine. They also have a machine called Zerona, which uses laser light to burn away fat. Very impressive. read more

Dr. Vulich is a whiz at Botox. I was concerned about looking plastic and she assured me that she would take a conservative approach. After two weeks, I went in for a follow up which required a few units of touch up for my "Spock" brow. This was expected based on the conservative approach we took. The best part is that Dr. Vulich is a wealth of information and will gladly talk you through any concerns or questions. She provides an unbiased opinion and will steer you away from procedures that she doesn't think will benefit you. She doesn't push unnecessary services or persuade you into things. I just turned 31 and was a little skepticle about getting botox. Dr. Vulich came very highly recommended by a friend, who has been going to her for 10 years. Her office made it very easy to schedule an appointment, with minimal wait. When i met Dr. Vulich, I explained that I did not want a "frozen" face, especially since I am very facially expressive. She was professional, yet reaussuring, and explained the entire process and physiology, at length. She noted I had "strong facial muscles", and suggested a follow-up in two weeks. Even though I wanted to take a conservative approach, excited and in the moment, I asked if she could just administer the extra injections during that visit, in an effort to save time. She was very honest and told me, that because everyone reacts/metabolizes Botox differently, during the follow-up visit we may see that no additional injections are needed. On the follow-up visit, she made very minimal adjustments and I am very happy with the natural-looking results (I have gotten compliments on looking well-rested, or stress free). Dr. Vulich does phenomenal Botox, is very professional, and puts her patients first. I would definitly recommend her to anyone interested in starting/continueing Botox. read more

The services are fine here but I was up charged for a product an am absolutely horrified! After having a photo facial the Dr suggested that I buy a serum for aging skin. I decided to splurge and buy it. Well, I was charged $140 for a .5 oz bottle of iS Clinical Active Serum. Just recently, I went online to find it and that same EXACT bottle is only $75!!! I am so mad. I know the owner needs money, but ripping off unsuspecting clients is infuriating! Don't go here, if you do, make sure you know what you are getting yourself into. V read more

I went to Refine Med Spa to obtain Zerona laser treatments on my mid-section and received nothing other than top care. The spa was very sensitive to my work schedule and was able to squeeze me in over the lunch hour for almost all of my treatments. I lost weight on Zerona, even though they do not advertise that (it is for losing inches, not pounds). The spa was aggressive at pushing the HCG diet protocl over Zerona, and while it is true that would probably have worked better, I did not want to restrict my diet to 500 calories per day. Jenny was the contact there and she is absolutely wonderful to work with. I did not work much with Dr. Vulich, although she was always courteous and professional with me when I was in the office. The only thing I wish the spa would have done is take my measurements before and after the procedure so that I would have known precisely how effective the treatment was. read more

I have gone here for Fractora laser treatment on my face once and for laser hair removal for the upper lip one time as well. I didn't notice a difference right away, but when I did it was Great!! (which was only 3 to 5 days later). I was more than satisfied with the treatment and with the wonderful staff! Everyone who works there was really nice and funny. They treated me like a friend, rather a client.... which I love!! My mother has had a few treatments done from fillers, laser treatment, light peel, botox, and she is more than satisfied. Dr. Vulich is the one to see while you're in Chicago. I have been coming here for years and honestly, I don't know if the treatments or customer service is better. Dr. Vulich actually takes the time to listen to what results I'm looking for and ensures the best service. I always feel comfortable and know I'm in good hands. I've had the most incredible facials. The laser hair removal has been very successful for me as well. (Those Eastern European hair genes are no joke). I've recently gotten curious about lip injections and Dr. Vulitch has been able to transform my look with her impeccable eye for aesthetics. I was able to achieve the lip shape/ size I wanted while still looking natural. I wouldn't trust anyone else. She also has an incredible range of products and I've recently fallen in love with the iS Clinical Active Serum. The talent, knowledge and professionalism is hard to come by these days but I never have to worry about that at Refine Med Spa. read more

Last week I had botox and dermal fillers at Refine Med Spa. This week I look at least 5 years younger and am super happy with the results! I don't look like I had any "work" done, just look refreshed, rested, and I am thrilled with the results. I don't have that "angry" look on my face anymore. Dr. Vulich suggested a filler to help with my sagging, droopy cheek/jowl area and botox for crows feet and to lift my eyes and to help with vertical lines above my lips. She did a phenomenal job and I will be going back for more when the time comes. P.S. Be sure to stop products that will promote bleeding/bruising 10 days before. I stopped aspirin and Fish Oil. I took Arnica (homeopathic, found at Whole Foods) pellets 10 days prior and a few days after to help w/any potential bruising. It definitely helped. I only ended up with a very tiny bruise, easily covered by makeup and it went away in a couple of days. So no down time for me! read more

Dr. Vulich promised me she would give me additional treatments if the Zerona failed. however, after I wasted $2,000.00 & got no results she did not provide me with free treatments. I have been continually overcharged for procedures and products that are much cheaper elsewhere. I called 24 hours to cancel an appointment using the number I had always used and was called the next day by the Dr telling me (while I was sick with the flu) how she was going to charge me the cancellation fee. I explained that I had called an left a voicemail the day prior to cancel and asked her to check her machine again. She assured me there was no message and continued to berate me for over 10 minutes even though I had been a long standing customer at the spa for over 6 years. On my next visit - I asked the receptionist if I had the correct number for the spa..she informed me that they had changed their phone system and while the other number still worked and they answered it, that they didn't use that voicemail system any longer. So, I am sure that my message is still on that machine unchecked. I no longer use Refine services and would advise others to find another spa as there are many to choose from in the Chicago area. read more
