Every month I see Shayla at Dermavita. I have been going for 8 months now. She is very knowledgeable, friendly, and caring. During each service, Shayla explains each step and how it helps the skin. If a peel feels uncomfortable, she quickly takes care of it. She also recommends specific services and products to help me get my skin to where I want it to be for my wedding. I have seen many improvements since I've started a skin regimen with Shayla. The products are great. The reception ladies are friendly and welcoming. I had always gone into Seattle for my facials, but was convinced to try Dermavita by the owner. I had the WORST facial of my life for an extraordinarily high price. I had asked when I booked the facial what I should expect on pricing and they said a Customized Facial is $110. The "free" consultation was an hour of hell. The woman did not know how to run the machine and so I had to help her. She had no idea what the analysis showed and so for every question she'd say "I'll just print this out for you". Finally she went to the Recommendations page and proceeded to go through every product listed, even though I told her multiple times I was not in the market for product. I left the consultation room and was told to wait in the lobby while she prepped my room for my recommended facial, never telling me what it was. She used a machine on me that sucked at my skin. However, she did not use it uniformly on my skin. . . . .a stroke here, then over there, etc. It was odd and not relaxing, to say the least. I told her I like the massage portion and she said she doesn't normally do that but will do it "special for me". All of a sudden she was asking me if I wanted sunscreen applied. When she left the room I looked at my watch and the whole facial lasted 25 minutes! When I got to the counter they told me it cost me $255! I was in shock. I couldn't sleep that night and called the next day to talk to the owner. Instead I talked to the manager who just said that their facials are different and I should keep an open mind. However she offered to have me come back for another facial -- which I can't force myself to do because it was such a horrible experience. The owner has never called, nor did they offer to refund my money. Needless to say I am back at my Seattle location and thankful that I can get a great facial for much less money! read more

Sad to say I didnt appreciate the tone of your staff when I popped in for some Elta sun cream and was matching it to a photo to ensure it was the right product. I did leave with the right product as I know 100% my teenage son would never have used a tinted (like foundation) sun cream. Tried to explain the photo I was using to match it was of an old tube of cream so maybe the yellowing around the lid was from age. But to be told quite rudely that "you can buy it but I'm telling you it's the wrong product" was a little too much . I only went through with the purchase because my son really wanted it. I almost laughed when I got home and checked out the tinted cream she gave me for "when I realized my mistake". It was the color of fake tan and definitely not what I purchased last time. I used to go there all the time for Facial, they did a good job but the last time I went there, they put some type of liquid in my face where it started to burn for few days and my face skin was pealing...? The process took more than a week and it was not good for business either as I always have appointments with clients and my face skin is falling down during meetings.............???? I've had mixed experiences....And I'm thinking that might be usual for this place. But inconsistent service is not what you want to be the standard for skincare... My first time at DermaVita I had a very good experience. Very, very good in fact. I went in for a customized facial, and the facial was, in fact, customized. I experienced some peeling after the treatment, which I was told to expect, and after that my skin looked better then ever! After such a good first experience, I convinced a friend to come back with me. I got us both customized facials. We arrived early, were greeted, waited a bit, and then were taken back. My friend was taken back for her treatment about 15 minutes before me, so I awkwardly waited 15 for my esthetician to come get me. It would have been much more pleasurable for my friend and I to be able to wait and chat until both estheticians were ready for us. My facial was fine, but not very customized. The esthetician never asked me anything about my skin/skincare and seemed to just want to get it over with. On the way out I received slightly pushy remarks about coming back in a month for another facial or chemical peel, something I actually wanted to do until I noticed that.... After my facial I had red scratches up and down one side of my face. I'm a regular user of acids, so I know it wasn't just a skin reaction, it was a physical scrape that occurred during the treatment (probably when applying or removing an acid/mask) and was magnified by the acids. This was SO frustrating!!!! To top it off, my peel didn't even seem particularly strong and my skin was barely improved after the hour long facial. I don't know if I'll go back. I want consistent, good service when it comes to my face. And I feel a little bad about suggesting this spot to my friend, I may have done that prematurely... Of think yet ice before going here if I were you, your face is precious! read more

I have been going to see Magda at Dermavita for many years. In all that time, she is the only person I would trust with my combination skin. Before her I would have facials, that would either do nothing for me, or make my skin break out. Magda stays current on skin care techniques and products. She is the best at doing extractions. If they are done properly they are only temporarily a little uncomfortable. If you feel nothing during this process, they are not being performed correctly and will not benefit your skin. Depending on my skin condition, and what was done that day, my skin may be a little pink when I leave there. I can easily cover this with non-clogging (mineral) makeup. By the next day, the pinkness has disappeared. If I've had a strong peel, I will usually have some skin sloughing off about the third day. After that my skin looks younger, firmer and glowing. I usually plan facials one to two weeks before an event or trip. Not that it takes that long to look my best, I just think that works best. I have never had any scarring or scratching from these treatments. Magda does look at my skin at the start of the facial to check it's condition and see what should be done. During this process she does turn my head from side to side, but is always gentle. Before going to Dermavita I've had expensive facials at upscale spas, including some in Seattle. I found that they did what I call a surface facial, a little steaming, application of some products, and not much else. I left looking much as when I arrived. I was even once told that staff was "not to do much" to our skin, so as not to cause any redness, etc. These facials were a complete waste of money. Dermavita has many different types of facials. You can get a pampering facial that includes little, or possibly no, extractions if you don't need or want them. I have bought products from them in the past, but often leave without buying any. I've never felt any pressure to purchase items. The treatment rooms are always spotless, with comfortable "beds." I find the atmosphere peaceful and calming. I also like the Kirkland location, and the free (some spots) or inexpensive parking directly across the street. Magda uses a very high standard for skin care, and the staff that she employs. She has a great manager, Angela, who you can often find at the front desk. She is friendly and knowledgeable, and I always enjoy seeing her. read more

I started seeing Maria at Dermavita for facials over a year ago because I have adult acne and wanted clear skin for my wedding. She customized my facials based on what I needed and if I've been in the sun or not. I had really clogged pores and she helped me with what products to use that are non-clogging. I was fortunate enough to use a Groupon coupon for my first visit to Dermavita about 8 years ago when I broke out in adult acne. After a few regular visits, my acne cleared up and I've been going back on a regular basis ever since then. Now, I've been seeing Maria for about 5-6 years now and her custom facials has kept my skin balanced, glowing and acne free. She always knows what's best for my skin and is excellent in how she treats my skin. my oh my where do i start describe what an insanely horrific experience i endured .... 1) i got there 10 mins early for my appointment, they started me 15 minutes late from the actual appointment time. 2) i filled out a very long and verbose questionnaire on my skin and skincare regiment only to be completely re-interrogated by my aesthetician so i tell her i have sun damaged, sensitive skin, etc. needing a light exfoliation and some extractions... why did i need to fill out that chart? 3) she proceeds to start inspecting my skin under a bright lamp to see my pores.... but twists my head back and forth about 8 times in various directions to get a closer look (SUPER uncomfortable) 4) she steams my skin with a light peel treatment and hot steam.... but for 15 minutes straight while she steps out of my 60 minute appointment (that's WAY too long) 5) she offers to give me a no-frills but cleansing pore-unclogging facial (which sounds good and appropriate). i received the most abrasive facial ever in my lifetime. their diamond microdermabrasion actually left red scratches on my cheekbones. the aesthetician casually says in passing "oh that's totally normal to have scratches on your face after this type of treatment, don't worry i've been doing this for 20 years and have had great results, your skin will look amazing in 3 days". why do i have to wait 3 days? usually my skin looks great after 1 day! 6) they gave me extractions.... probably the most painful ones i have ever experienced. she did it all manually (like using her latex gloved fingertips). ever heard of a needle or lance? yes, even pokey pieces of metal would have hurt less than what she did to my face. 7) i mention to the receptionist on my way out that this really isn't normal and that i'm very concerned about my skin and the prominent scratches. they offer me a whole full-sized bottle of foundation free of charge and 3 samples of skin repair formula telling me that it's a fancy version of neosporin with aloe and that it will fix my skin and prevent me from scarring. what's wrong with that last sentence? WTF?!?!?!? i might get scarring? i will totally pursue this place to the fullest extent of the law if i get a scar from a simple facial. well, i should wait it out right? ok well it's been 30 hours since my facial and now instead of red cheekbones, i now have a RED FACE. ultimate fail. next, so you're giving me a full sized product to cover up the damaged you caused? folks, i call that admission of guilt in its clearest form. OMG stay away if you care about your dermis. no groupon, daily deal or social offer is worth having someone allegedly with 20 years experience scraping your face and calling it a facial. read more

I have been a client at Dermavita for almost 15 years now. Even when I've moved to live further and further from this spa, I still make the effort to keep going back for my treatments there. I think trust has a lot to do with it. To have someone work on my face, my skin- I think is a very big deal so trust is a must. Dermavita is professional but has a warm atmosphere where I treated as a "sister and a friend" always. This is not a "fluff" type of spa. This is a place to go to for treatments to improve your health, your skin and your confidence. They are experienced and I feel so much better and look better every time I leave after an appointment there. I have oily skin that gets clogged up with black heads and no head pimples. Hey, any way to extract these guys will cause some discomfort and is not a pampering type of action. I know this because when I do it at home, it hurts & half of the time, I can't get them out and make them worse. So go to a professional! Dermavita specializes in troubled skin. They will make it better. Their product line is also amazing because it's not expensive and it works! I like the sulfur mask, the exfoliator scrub wash a lot. I also get my microbebrasions, clinical facials, peels and injectables here. The only down fall is parking might be tough to find on the weekends and once you start going there, you'll be addicted just like I have been! I am lucky in that I get to travel all over the world for my work and have experienced all kinds of facials but nothing beats the treatments I get at this place I've been going to for the last 15 years! I've read some of the reviews on here by new clients that had bad experiences and honestly, I JUST DON'T GET IT! The technicians are pleasant and knowledgeable, but the IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) system is not literally a laser... after 6 visits, I switched to a different place with much better results. I have been using the Dermavita brand for so long and last year (or maybe it was the year before) their facial shampoo changed. It started to have a medicinal smell to it. I called and they graciously said I could exchange but once I did the smell was still there. Something in the formula has changed. And then recently their moisturizer made my entire face and neck break out. (And I did not use any new products so I knew exactly what it was). I have been going to Dermavita for over 15 years. I started as a young girl with teenage break outs and was helped by Both Brooke and Magda. To this day they are the only people who really understand my skin. I moved 14 years ago to California but I still only have my face done by them when I fly home. As an adult I experienced a bad bout of adult onset acne and was once again (after going to 4 different derms in LA) was healed by Magda. Not only did she clear my skin but she educated me on ingredients that can contribute to acne ( I thought I had known it all as I work for doctors). My 'adult acne bout' is now gone and once again I have Dermavita to thank. Additionally I have had my eyebrows waxed and lashed dyed by Kathrine many times. She is incredible and you will look gorgeous after she is done with you. I did read some reviews below and would like to add that "permanent" make up (i.e. eyebrow and lip tattoos) is NOT permanent. This isn't Katherine's fault or anyone that does your permanent make up. I have my eyebrows fully tattooed and they look bomb but it is because I get them touched up every 6 months. The ink they inject into your facial tattoos is not the same as the ink they inject into a tattoo on your foot (thank God). Do your research before you leave crappy reviews ladies. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dermavita! Everything from the professional and extremely caring staff to the atmosphere, services and products - Dermavita is a top notch establishment that you will definitely walk away feeling you got your money's worth. The people here really care about their clients and it shows in their work and reputation. I guess the ratings are low due to groupon users who are trying to get a quick fix for cheap, but the reality is Dermavita's clients continue to come back regularly for years. If you have problem skin like I did in high school, come to Dermavita! It can take some pain and redness in the beginning to get your skin to a manageable state, but this is true with facials anywhere and it will be worth it if you want real results. They are also great at waxing, but even have a plastic surgeon on site that can do laser hair removal, injectables, and other procedures. I'm sad to say I no longer live in Kirkland and have not been able to find a replacement as good as Dermavita, even in LA! I went in for a free consultation just last week, which is EXACTLY what I needed. I'm 26 and have never really done anything for my face. I didn't even know where to start. Well, the helpful Maria walked me through my skin type and what I can do to have bright, healthy skin again. (And I'll interject to say that I went to a DIFFERENT skin place a couple of years ago -- very ignorant of anything related to skin care -- and I left that place feeling like a moron because they kept giving me "you're an idiot" looks.) I went to Diane for a micro needling facial. She is very experienced with this procedure. She took the time to explain everything to me as it was happening and also kept checking with me to see if I was ok. My skin looked fantastic! She got rid of hyperpigmentation marks that I couldn't get rid of with topical creams. I highly recommend Diane. She will make your skin glow and take years off! The entire staff is excellent. Warm, caring and great in explaining procedures. In addition, Shayla is excellent with lash extensions and Aubrey is excellent with lash lifts. Layla is THE true master with what she does.
