Summers Plumbing Heating & Cooling

I called Summers because we needed a fairly simple plumbing repair and because there was an online…read morecoupon. The plumber fixed the issue, then encouraged us to consider purchasing a maintenance package, which would cut the price of that service call as well as future calls and would discount the cost of any repairs and supplies. Most importantly, he said, the company would come to our house three times a year to evaluate, maintain, and repair any issues with with plumbing and HVAC. We usually avoid warranty and service packages, so I wasn't sure whether my husband would agree to it. But, the plumber said he could set up the maintenance plan, then cancel it if my husband opposed the idea. We went ahead and purchased the maintenance plan. Today was the first maintenance visit, and the HVAC guy disassembled our furnace and outside AC unit, pointed out potential problems, and advised me on whether there were major issues or whether we could wait on replacement. He also replaced the filter on the furnace, going to the trouble of finding us a less expensive version of the usual model. He spent well over 2 hours working on and cleaning our units. The company seems very committed to good service. They call to confirm the appointment, show up when they say they will, and cover their shoes with these funny little slipper-things before they come in the house. The office also calls with a follow up survey and asks whether the technician arrived on time, covered his feet, etc. They only fault I could find was that I was expecting a plumbing evaluation today, not an HVAC. I don't know where that miscommunication happened, but it wasn't a big deal to me. I figured that Summers was a national company with franchises, because they're pretty slick with branding. As it turns out, they are local to central Indiana but have several branch offices.

He fixed the problem and made sure my system was clean and functioning properly. I now have cold air in my office! They were VERY reasonably priced! We are changing all our HVAC needs to Meldon HVAC! They are AWESOME! No relation with anyone at this company.

I cannot recommend Meldon HVAC enough! I called on Sunday morning because my furnace was blowing…read morecold air, and a technician was at our house in Lawrence within the hour. Not bad at all considering the company is Madison County based. The tech was super friendly and courteous (and didn't at all mind are pups wild behavior upon his arrival). He was able to quickly determine that the issue was our thermostat kicking on the A/C rather than the furnace. From there, he took a look at our digital thermostat and recognized that the issue rooted from some settings misconfigured in an internet reset. He fixed those issues AND rewired the set up to prevent it from happening again. All told, the visit lasted maybe 30 minutes and the issue was diagnosed and repaired. The real kicker? As I pulled out my checkbook, I was told that the entire visit fell under diagnostic service, which was being offered free as part of a promotion they were having! Many other companies wouldn't have thought twice and charged us hourly rates for the rewiring that took a matter of moments or, at the very least, tried to upsell me on a bunch of services we didn't need. So, we greatly appreciate their honesty! So, in conclusion, if you're looking for a good, ethical company with reasonable rates (not to mention awesome deals and promotions), quick service, and courteous techs, then don't think twice about calling Meldon HVAC! As new homeowners, they are now our go-to people for heating and cooling services.

Tech, Kevin, came as promised and had the problem, the original and ancient circuit board, replaced quickly and at a very reasonable cost. Comforting to know we have had NARDCO repair our 20 year-old furnace going into another old Indiana winter! July, 30, 2018: After 35 years of good service, our a/c 'bit the dust' a day before we left for vacation. I called NARDCO and a tech was promptly sent out and confirmed a Freon leak bled all the coolant. The owner, Mr. Milligan, cut short a day with his family to home out and quote a new unit. We were leaving for vacation the next morning and he arranged to have a crew with a complete new unit (all components since the old unit would have thrown good money after bad) at the house at 8 a.m. the day after our return. 3 professional, courteous and technically sharp techs had our entire unit replaced in 3 hours. The price was surprisingly low compared to what we expected to pay and our satisfaction, once again, is 100%. NARDO has a customer for life!

Two guys showed up on time and spent all day removing old system and installing new Trane system. They ran new cables and copper tubing from air to furnace. They tested system and insured it was working OK. All trash including old system was removed. They worked hard in stifling heat. Never complained and very courteous. Apparently, the company was sold and has new management. The owners are retired Marines. Mom was a Gunnery Sgt and Dad was a Sgt Major. They have their son running it. Plus you get up to 18 months no interest to pay it off. I was so impressed, I tipped each guy $50. They tried to refuse it. Always pays to comparison shop. Other locals wanted $2500 and the main TV advertisers wanted over $4000 more.

If it can be repaired, Rich will repair it…read moreand he will tell you the truth in addition to knowing all anyone needs to know about the subject, based on many years experience. We had a well-known company come in to check out one of our a/c units. My father who was 92 at the time and knew a lot about these things, suggested it might be the capacitor. The guy said "no, you need a whole new unit" and priced it at $2700 and said it would last a few years. I deferred him and called a friend whose brother was a commercial heating and a/c man who found it was the capacitor and replaced it for $131.00. That was a blessing but he doesn't do residential so we were in a quandary. I turned in the other company to Angie's List and told all my clients what they'd done. Then we met Rich Simpson and have never looked back. He could easily have told us some story when our compressor went out but he just found the problem and sorted it in no time at low expense. He also helped a client whose husband was dying of cancer and was told by someone she called in she needed a new water heater and her system totally needed updating and it was going to be a few Thousand!!!!!! She was in a panic and not used to dealing with these things. I told her to call Rich and she didn't need to change anything; it just needed a small repair. If you want to be handled with integrity, call Rich. All the others that I know of, supplement their paychecks by selling you components or VERY expensive equipment you may or may not need and many of us wouldn't be the wiser. Long may Rich live and remain in business!!!!!!!!!
