unfortunately the lowest this goes is one star. I wish I was exaggerating, but I would consider this place heartless and beyond disgusting. They do illegal things and claim that the "lease" has the terms in it. The law is the law and if you cannot abide by it then you shouldn't be in business. They caused absolute destruction and devastation to my families lives and leaving us no choice to flee out of state with public humiliation. After no attempt at communication they left us with nothing but the clothes on our backs. -I felt like I needed to warn others of this devastation so that it could hopefully be avoided for others. -I also am using a fake name due to I don't need to be harassed by a company that has already done extreme damage to our lives. The worst property management I have ever dealt with. Takes at least two weeks for anyone to show up for maintenance requests as well as refused to fix something because "it would take too long". Takes forever to get anyone on the phone...most of the time they don't even answer and their box is full. Save yourself and NEVER rent from them. Everything you wouldn't want in a property management company. In 3 years my rent was increased 4 times, including less than two months after I had moved in. The apartment was not cleaned at all prior to moving in, and I also wasn't allowed to view it or see any pictures either. The tub was also completely stained blue when I moved in, which they told me they were going to re-glaze eventually and of course never did. In my time here the ceiling also collapsed from water damage, and I had god knows what type of water dripping on me when I had to use the bathroom. They are constantly coming up with excuses to enter the apartments, including "annual" fire extinguisher inspections, that happened twice a year (That's not what annual means)and yet somehow my fire extinguisher still had an outdated tag on it. I also had a community hallway light that was on my breaker panel, meaning I was responsible for paying for that electricity. And the best part of it all, I had given my 60 days notice to vacate when I had finally had enough, and they claimed they didn't receive my 3 separate emails I had sent them. And then, after leaving the apartment leaps and bounds cleaner than it was when I moved in, they try and take $250 for a crack in the trim piece of the microwave door that was there when I moved in. The Vermont state law stipulates that there must be an itemized list of anything a landlord keeps from your deposit. All they had listed was appliance fee, which is not very specific when there are multiple appliances. Once I went out of my way to confront them about this, which took two separate phone calls with two very unhelpful Redstone employees, they sent me the remainder of my deposit a week after the 14 days it should have been returned to me. I can't imagine why a company would choose to nitpick something like this for someone who was a good tenant and paid over $60,000 in rent and always paid on time. Thankfully I did have the photo evidence, since they never bothered to send me any sort of pre move in inspection form to fill out. It isn't the tenants responsibility to beg for these things to be sent to them, they had no problem sending everything else via Docusign, and I never met any property management people face to face. The only people that work at Redstone that aren't completely unhelpful are the maintenance people I dealt with. There are so many other landlords in this area to rent from, stay clear from anything Redstone manages. read more

As a result, it's seemingly engaged in a campaign of benign neglect around matters of building security to give local bike thieves a leg up in getting a hold of that new ride they'd been pining after. Here's the TLDR: Living at the Redstone Lofts was not worth the 2k in rent/utilities/parking fees I spend each month. -I'll start with my most recent gripe before addressing all the other issues: possibly most infuriating of anything on this list, I spent several days deep cleaning the apartment before I moved out. Then, I received a letter informing me that my security deposit was not only going to be kept, but also that I owed the Lofts extra, because my apartment was not clean and had trash all over. There wasn't a single speck of dust on the floor, much less trash. -The wifi in the apartments turned off regularly with no warning-- once or twice a month at least. Sometimes it's out for 20 minutes, sometimes it's out for several hours. In my last week, it was out for over 15 hours; I received NO warning about it ahead of time or for the first 10 hours of the outage. About 10 hours into the outage, they emailed residents and said the wifi would be back up in less than an hour. It stayed down for 5 more hours, and we received no additional updates. -The only elevator is out of service at least once every other month, usually more often. -FedEx isn't allowed to deliver to this location and won't notify you of this, so if you're not able to walk a mile down to the FedEx office before your 5-day pickup window closes, you just won't get the package. -When I moved in, I reported that several pieces of furniture were broken, and that one of the drawers in my bathroom was unusably broken. After 5 months, my broken bathroom drawer was "fixed" by Lofts maintenance by being ripped out and never replaced. It was left that way all the way up until I moved out almost TWO YEARS LATER. Over the course of several months, they sent multiple maintenance men to my apartment who each said "to fix this, we'll need to rip out the entire bathroom counter/sink/cabinet/drawers". I kept telling them when I'll be out of town so they could fix the bathroom while I'm not using it, but they never did. -I asked if maintenance or I could remove one of the broken pieces of furniture, since it was taking up a lot of space for being barely functional. They told me no, I am required to keep all of my furniture. I asked if they could replace it, since many of the other apartments had recently received new furniture. They told me no again; they then replaced it just two weeks before I moved out (I lived there for almost 2 years). -The windows open but have no screens, so even opening them a tiny crack will let in tons of bugs. I only opened my window twice while living here and my apartment has had bees, ladybugs, flies, wasps, dragonflies, and more. -In addition to the lack of screens, the windows are also not insulated and do not securely shut-- on windy days, you can feel the cold breeze throughout the apartment despite the shut window. -For almost 4 months the key fob on the disabled entrance of my building was so broken that I had to scan in 10-20 times before it would let me in. The Lofts knew about this, told us they knew, but took several months to actually fix it. (Before fixing it, they removed it entirely--it was this way for more than a week. This was the ONLY disability-accessible entrance from that side of the building.) -The mattress provided to me in my apartment was 15 years old. I notified the Lofts of this when I moved in. I never received a new one. -There was some mold in the shower when I moved in. -Every time maintenance came in during winter, they would leave muddy/wet boot prints all over my floor. -The staff is extremely hard to reach after hours (5p) or on weekends. There is a line you can call to reach the general property office, but they know nothing about the Lofts and I'm not totally sure why they even offer that line for after-hours issues. -When I moved in there was a lot of poster putty and tacks on the walls. Instead of filling the holes or removing the poster putty, Lofts just painted over everything in white paint. A couple tacks were also left in the ceiling. read more

Do not rent an apartment at Catamount Ridge. Hillary, the property manager is two-faced. Somehow all of your business finds its way to other tenants. She's phony, unfriendly and unprofessional. She's pulled some real doozies on tenants, like promising someone a particular apartment until moving day and you find out she's give you a DIFFERENT and SMALLER apartment. She's argumentative and doesn't know what she's doing. She seems like a very unhappy individual and is eager to show YOU, SHE'S in charge! On top of that, this is how the property was every day (sometimes worse) dog poop everywhere. This company is criminal during the COVID-19 era. I moved out of my apartment in mid May which was two weeks early. And they told me they would not do a walk-through because of the times and to just leave the keys inside when it was clean. I did a thorough cleaning of the apartment and patched every hole in the wall from picture frames. I even went so far as to replace the pans underneath the stove that had a little burnt on stuff. I just picked up my security deposit check yesterday and they deducted $800 from my deposit. The apartment was cleaner than when I moved in. The tub would not drain in the bathroom on fan was so dirty that it was black instead of white. In addition they charge me a bogus renter insurance fee for the last month when I already gave them my renters insurance policy when I moved in. The additionally charged me for a full month when the lease was on through the 27th. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau because this is a straight a criminal activity and taking money away from people that desperately need it during these times. I was counting on that money for rent in my current place I even gave them the luxury to get it ready early. Into charge for a deep clean when they would have to do that anyways because of COVID-19 is absolutely absurd. What tone deaf company!!! Would not recommend anyone to rent here. read more

Manager could not be bothered to respond to initial inquiry, then couldn't be bothered to actually read the inquiry and responded half-a$$ed. Continuous nudging and follow-up needed on the supposed client side is bad enough. But then when you reach out to management to report the experience and management can't be bothered to respond? Go elsewhere. They do not deserve your time or money. p.s. I just read the other reviews here and OH BOY, was I right. Renting from Redstone at Catamount Lane was livable, but not worth the $1200 for a one-bedroom with no utilities (except water) and communal, coin-operated washer and dryer. We also had to pay an extra $50/month for a second parking spot, even though there were always plenty of available spaces. It certainly was not exceptional and unpleasant at times. The apartments themselves are dated and cramped with no A/C (window units are allowed) so it was hard to keep clean at times. There was plenty of closet space though and lots of green space around the apartment complex. Upon move-in, there was a weird smell under the kitchen sink that never went away and some of the cabinets had a sticky residue in them that took a lot of scrubbing to finally get rid of. Some of the doors were also chipped and paint-stained. During our lease, it seems like Redstone was trying to make improvements (i.e. replacing the carpet in the entranceway, fixing the entryway door so it shut fully, paving the parking lots and sidewalks, and replacing the laundry machines). The outdoor lighting in the complex was broken for most of our time renting there so, for the Vermont winters, it was VERY dark. It took them a while to even notify us that something was wrong and then eventually tell us it would take even longer to repair the issue. By the end of our lease, the lighting had been replaced but that led to dirt all throughout the complex and then mud during Vermont's spring. The interior hallway lighting was also broken sporadically and was eventually fixed. Some maintenance issues took a while to fix in the apartment, some they didn't even fix at all. A fixture fell off our light and they just said to leave it off. We had to send a follow-up email for two issues (a month after filing the request) to actually get them fixed. The snow clearing was decent. There were times during big storms that the sidewalks weren't well cleared and salt was minimal. It is also pet-friendly, which is nice (no pet rent, just a deposit), but the dog bag bins weren't cleaned regularly and they would just let full doggie bags pile up below it. There didn't seem to be an enforcement of the rules around the complex in general (i.e. the misuse of the garbage). Cigarette butts were also left throughout the complex. We were able to get our full deposit back minus a carpet cleaning fee, which is required if you have pets. The staff was always professional, helpful and responsive. I was locked out a few times (once after hours) and they were able to get to me promptly. read more

I had a very good overall experience renting an apartment managed by Redstone. There were times when they were slow to act on certain maintenance requests, but never when the request was urgent, like "no hot water," or "toilet isn't flushing well" -- those were always handled promptly. The reps who handled our apartment complex (three in succession, during the 14 months I rented from them) seemed very responsive and professional to me. What else? The pet-friendly apartment policy is a Godsend, and the outside maintenance (snow plowing and lawn care) was handled very well. Last, they were businesslike and fair when I had to exercise the early-termination clause AFTER I'd just recently renewed my lease -- including promptly returning all of my security deposit (minus termination penalty) and pro-rated rent to me. read more
