Not the greatest experience. Frankly I feel relieved to have moved out after only 6 months. I'll explain... I am originally from Southern California and never experienced a property management company as eager to take money without actually doing worthy in return. Their apartments flood Craigslist and comprised the majority during the time I was looking prior to my move. Ultimately I felt like I got a good deal on a studio that was listed as fully renovated. Bissonette also offered to give me a virtual walk through while was still in CA so I could get a better idea. I thought it was a great idea, obliged, and got a pretty good glimpse (or so I thought). I signed the lease and sent them the deposit quickly so I could have something in place for when I arrived during the winter. After the 6 day drive from CA to VT, I was shocked to find that the building was a complete dump and the apartment was severely misrepresented in the photos. It was about 20% accurate of what I expected. To make matters worse, little things like simple communication to residents was never made a priority. Often times I would wake up on a Saturday morning to the wonderful sounds of construction right above my head, construction workers shouting profanity, missed package deliveries (because one half of the building is completely different than the other half), residents whining about parking spaces (even though nothing was clearly assigned), and overall price when compared to the quality of the living space. I just feel like this company has really overstretched the scope of what they are capable are doing given the staff size. They are polite when you speak to them over the phone or email, but I just don't think they are equipped to provide the best experience to residents and it doesn't help that their listings are really exaggerated for what you pay for. read more

I lived at a building managed by Bisonette properties from 2025 through 2026. I have dealt with many shady and unethical landlords, but I have never had as negative an experience as with Nichole Delong. The quality of the building was disgusting, there were bugs, mice, holes, crumbling walls, etc. Be warned, you will be charged a large amount out of your deposit even if you take good care of your crumbling apartment. The laundry was constantly broken and the price for laundry increased SEVERAL TIMES across one year with NO WARNING. The premises are horribly maintained and if you have an issue, Nichole will either ignore you, be slow to respond, and/or be extremely rude. The top of the stove was hot constantly despite not being in use. I was told this was normal for gas appliances so my monthly gas bill was astronomical despite rarely using the stove and oven. My cat developed horrible asthma while living in this apartment and their asthma has completely cleared since moving. It is truly shameful the way Bisonette and Nichole treat their tenants. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. read more

Renting from Bissonette was tiring. The location of the duplex was amazing, and we enjoyed the maintence staff. However, here are a few of the many issues we had. The property is not maintained. We moved into a dirty house and yard filled with mud, trash, and past seasons leaves. There was a pipe draining into the side of our duplex causing a giant pond that froze over in the winter. We had 15+ potholes from September that went unfixed until April. We were robbed and requested some security features, they claimed they needed to discuss this with the owner and we never heard back. These were simple things like permission to install an exterior motion light. Problems caused by their "tenant-monitored" parking lot are blamed on tenants. There are signs that claim they have cameras, none have been installed in the year we resided there. Definitley do not recommend them to college students or anyone with a family. They simply do not care about the wellbeing, safety, or comfort of their tenants. There is better property management out there! read more

I am really surprised at some of these bad reviews but most are older reviews. I have been renting an apartment for my college student at UVM them since June 2025. They have been nothing but really responsive and fix things right away. They ask if they can enter your apartment within a 48 hour window for anything they need to fix. They do address any tenants who are loud and obtrusive. I think that many of these apartments are old multifamily homes (such as Victorians) and you can only do so much with them. I am own multi families myself in another state and I have no complaints. read more

Would not recommend this rental company. Enjoyed my apartment although it was in crap condition when we moved in. We left it 100x cleaner and nicer than when we moved in and they took almost half of our security deposit. Completely ridiculous as we could not have left it in better condition. They only rent to college kids, they only have electric stoves, and they cannot guarantee quiet or a lack of marijuana smoke.

These people are simply slumlords who jump at the chance to stick it to people when they move out. We were in the apartment for two months before moving into our house. When we left, we cleaned everything, scrubbed the floors, counters, etc. There was a small patch of paint that came off when I removed a calendar. Well, they charged us for painting and cleaning the entire apartment along with a "pet disinfectant" charge. We paid an extra $70 a month to have our dogs there, and there was no messes at all. Almost everything they charged us for is what management is expected to do on their own when tenants change. I'd love to see this scumbag group of people before Judge Judy. She'd rip them a new one. If I could leave zero stars for this slumlord I would. I fear for my son's safety and health. I feel helpless knowing that the landlord, PHE (Bissonnette is a property management company, PHE is the owner of our building) will not enforce the lease that they created in order to protect their tenants. Apparently this lease means nothing to them unless they would be benefiting from enforcing it. Due to their negligence, my son is being forced to live with someone that thinks that she is immune to Covid 19 and that the recommendations by the CDC and Public Health Dept do not apply to her. She is endangering her roommates safety and well-being and PHE could care less. With privilege comes the ability to disregard anyone else but yourself. You should be ashamed by your lack of professionalism and the neglect of your property and tenants! read more

Save yourself the trouble. I'm not sure where to begin with the nightmare that was renting from Bissonette Properties. The inside of our apartment had barely been cleaned when we moved in. Just 3 months into our lease, we were required to accommodate Bissonette's showings of our property to potential renters. I'm talking anywhere from 1 to 5 showings per week, frequently during week day evenings. This is understandable for a renter to do during the few months prior to moving out, but with 9 months still on my lease, it was a nuisance to say the least. Our house was marketed as 3 bedroom but the reality was that there were 2 bedrooms and the third was a glorified closet. The winter months were excruciating. Our primary door lacked a seal as did a few of our windows. Not only did this lead to increased gas bill for heating, but also allowed easy access to rodents entering our apartment from the outside. Upon request, Bissonette did set traps for the mice running all through the home, but again, this was a nuisance. The basement to our house (we were the first floor of a house) was infested by more rodents. We didn't have access to the basement but could hear them below. We also witnessed squirrels entering a couple of holes in the house from the outside. Though we never saw squirrels inside the apartment, we could hear them in the walls. As spring came, this problem naturally alleviated itself. This is clearly a house that has been left to slowly deteriorate and management doesn't seem to care much or at all. Caution renters! Avoid Bissonette Properties! We moved into a 3 bedroom apartment (me and my 2 roommates) and were immediately disgusted at the conditions of the walls and floors. In addition to it not being cleaned, there were broken blinds, gaps in the doors, and our washer/dryer which we were paying rent for had not been installed. WIthin the first few days of moving in, we emailed with pictures all the issues with the apartment and only got back "ok thank you" as a reply. So we dealt with the issues and cleaned as best we could. During the lease, Bissonette was very absent which is fine, we took care of most things ourselves. Upon moving out, we cleaned the apartment as best we could and left it in the same, if not better, condition as moving in. When we got our security deposit back we were shocked to see major charges to our deposit for cleaning floors and walls. Bissonette has some nice properties, but if you move into one of their older units, they will not give a shit about you. read more

Slumlord dirtbags. DO not rent from them. A fence blew over in the spring, they never came to fix it and one of the tenants actually had to fix it on his own. A wind storm just came through this week and the same fence full of rusty nails blew into the neighbor's driveway blocking them from leaving. Their landlord had to throw it back on our side. Its been 3 days and the fence full of rusty nails is just sitting in the yard. The building is in a state of disrepair with rotten soffits and a bad roof. All the while they show up in their BMW and Escalade when its time to sign up a new client. Completely worthless a**holes who give landlords a bad name. You could only hope that COVID or bankruptcy, or both will push them out of business. read more

Be extremely wary of renting from Bissonnette, especially if your rent payments are going to the landlord PHE. In the middle of the coronavirus pandemic they are completely unwilling to use their contractual abilities within the lease to protect their tenant's health and wellbeing. They also refuse to negotiate in any way to protect their tenant's health and financial wellbeing. This is a company with millions of dollars in rental units, but won't step in to offer any short term relief that would lose them a few hundred dollars. read more

When you move in, i advise you to note in detail, in writing, every mark on the wall, every scratch on any surface, every speck of dirt or dust anywhere. Man, I wish I could leave these scammers zero stars. My friend and I were looking for an apartment to rent for the summer in Burlington. We were excited when we found this apartment that was beautiful and for a really good deal. I contacted the "tenant" and we began the booking process. The first red flag was that he was going to give us a $1000 discount if we paid three months in advance. But, we had no reason to believe it was a scam yet so we went with it. We filled out the lease agreement and sent him the deposit. He then said that the paypal address he gave us was "full of payment" and that he was refunding us and giving us another address to send the money to. How can a PayPal account be full of payment? We then held off on sending him any more money as we were starting to get suspicious. He then told us that the second account he gave us was also wrong and that this third address was the correct one. That's when we were pretty sure it was a scam. We then reverse image searched the pictures he posted on Craig'slist and found that the pictures actually belonged to an apartment in New Jersey that was worth 6 times the price he gave us. We were able to get out of it because he refunded us and we never sent him more money, but please do not rent from this company. They are trying to scam you! read more

Had an attempted break in at the apt I rent from them this past weekend. Not only did they say that I would have to pay for the locks to get Changed they also said I must have not been threatened as I did not call the police right away ( police then told me it's not uncommon when people are in shock and fear) it's clear they only care about their bottom line and that is it! Bissonette Properties is a JOKE! DO NOT RENT FROM THEM! I paid my rent in cash just before the date where there would be an extra charge for late rent, since my check somehow did not get there in time. They called me saying I needed to come pay that day, so I went out of my way during my lunch break to get cash and bring it to them. When I did I told them to please not deposit the check that would be come. Lo and behold... they did cash the check and my bank account went negative TWICE - charging me two $35 overdraft fees. After speaking to one of the staff there, they said that since they were nice enough to call me to avoid the late fee and that "since my check cleared" (it clears no matter what with my bank) that it was not their fault. The same person told me that the accountant already had my check IN HAND when I dropped off rent in cash, so i went out of my way for nothing. I told them it was an internal communication error and all they kept saying was that rent is due the 1st. In the lease it says you won't get charged the extra $50 until the 10th. They had a FULL YEAR of on time rent because they set up direct payment through my bank then turned it off for the last month and told us last minute. Also, they are so unresponsive when it comes to repairs and plowing. Seriously don't waste your time/money. read more

Lovely renovations in the lowest parts of town, make Bissonette properties a very high maintenance company for not nice surroundings. The rent is sky high. No joke so high. Not to mention when you need someone to help you from the company no one is ever there to answer the phone. I don't recommend renting from them unless you just want to sit in your apartment and never look out the Windows. When it comes down to giving back your security? My daughter rented a two-story, 3-bedoom apartment with some roommates while going to UVM. The place was tiny and a bit overpriced, but that's the way it is with student apartments. After she moved in, we discovered that the bedrooms on the second floor had no heat source- the only heat was from a single gas cabinet heater in the living room below... the bedrooms on the second floor were very cold. We notified Bissonette properties, and to their credit, a plumber was on site within a day or two, installing a second heating unit on the second floor. Problem solved. Overall, my daughter enjoyed living in the apartment, and generally found that the management people were responsive and easy to work with. Given my previous experiences with other property management companies in the area, I am disgusted with the way Bissonette Properties has treated my roommates and myself. When we moved in there were a few things that didn't work, namely the lights. They promised to correct the issue within the week - a month later we're still without lights. To add insult to injury, the owner was downright rude when we called to inquire. When issues arose later in the year regarding security deposits they were completely unwilling to help in any way, telling us to "figure it out". The inside of the apartments are fair... The locations of the apartments are awful. As for the company itself, it is nothing more than a sham in every sense of the word. When trying to deal with someone from the company, you will not get any help whatsoever...even if they decide to respond to their phones or emails. We were lied to on several occasions. Craigslist ads are exaggerated to say the least. All of their listings are "newly renovated" but that's not the case. They took so much money out of our security deposit for the most random reasons.
