Small portions. Tasty food but very small portions. Don't bother if you're hungry. And this from the guy who usually can't finish his fries. Tiny burger that didn't even fill the mini-bun it came on. Extra for onions. Extra for mayo. Half pint of beer for a price that would be moderately high for a pint in that neighborhood. No indication on the menu of the fact that it would be a half pint. Burger tiny portion not even rounded out by big fry portion. That too was tiny. This at a place that serves non-filtered water (taste the chlorine!) in a mason jar. Which is it? Gourmet or backyard BBQ? Ugh. Tasty though and nice waitress. But tiny portions. Don't bother if you're hungry. read more

With it's prime location, Red's has the potential to be a hard hitter in the Ithaca food scene. They have a captive audience, as newcomers will undoubtedly come in instead of waiting for The Ale House or Viva on a busy night. The atmosphere is nice, albeit a little dark, and the staff is extremely competent and friendly. Unfortunately, the food quality may be their downfall. Although the menu is well designed with unique, but, not too creative options, it seems they have resorted to use low quality, from frozen, ingredients. Our appetizer (loaded fries) was soggy with undercooked fries and a thin cheese sauce. My burger (A high potential special with gouda, bacon jam and apples) was ruined with a stale, cheap roll. Most disappointingly for a "gastro pub" was the warm beer, both from draught and in bottles. Here's hoping they up their food game and have some staying power in the tough aurora street market. read more

The burgers are some of the best in Ithaca! While this place can be on the pricier side, it's worth the treat. They have interesting takes on burger flavors and the fries are perfectly cooked. A fun atmosphere for friends or family. Definitely come! read more

Our waitress for red's was incredible. She was funny, congenial, and all around I made the night The food was delicious albeit the loaded tater tots probably shortened my life span with their delicious gooey cheese. Their burgers and sandwiches have complex flavors that play well together and are all good options. I had the Gramps and it was like your grandmother's turkey dinner met a Michelin restaurant. Great food and great service made a great evening. read more

What a great dining experience. As a frequent traveler I always seek out the "local" place knowing I can get the chains at any airport in the US. This place was a great find. Friendly service and a Chef with unmatched creativity and commitment to customer satisfaction. I highly recommend Red's Place. If anything doesn't meet your expectations, just as to speak to the Chef and he will make things right. read more

Poor service. Ordered a second round of drinks which was forgotten about. And they weren't very busy to make it excusable. The food was bland but edible. Ordered a flatbread which was undercooked on the bottom but burnt on the sides. Table ordered the boom boom shrimp which they said was great. The environment of the restaurant is weird and messy, there were tons of flies roaming the air and it was super warm inside. Overall I wouldn't go there again and it was super underwhelming. read more

Beer was stale. Service was highly mediocre. Food on the menu looked inspiring; however, it was average at best. Recommend exploring options on the other side of the street. read more

Had a great meal here. Enjoyed a mushroom burger with some tasty waffle fries. Really interesting beers available-found a new favorite!

Food wasn't good but it wasn't horrible the wings were super super salty and the drink that I got that should have tasted like a kid's cereal was just gross. The service was adequate at best. The main course the pb and j burger and it was good but burnt bun and there was hardly ever any pb and j. Would not recommend here and would be very very hesitant to go back. But might to try something else that's why I gave them two starts but don't be fooled this could very easily be a one star experience. read more

We got right in at 6:30 on a Saturday night. It was full but not crowded. Food was delicious but not exciting. Nice margaritas. Great staff!

Place is hit or miss, we really enjoyed our second time here. The bartender was great, and the food was great.

Nice, mixed concept with a decent rotating beer tap. The food is upscale burgers, salads and flatbread with other items, such as tacos and wings. I ordered the ginger, stuffed salad with mahi mahi. The fish was cooked nicely, but the salad was mostly just a half head of lettuce with a few veggies and some apples. I'll come back to try the burger or read more

After the worst kid's movie I've seen in 10 years, the hubs and I decided to take the boy out to dinner. We had heard about Red's recently and I was sad to realize that it had been open since September 2014 and I didn't even know about it (cue sad violin music showing I am old and don't have much of a life outside of my couch and Netflix once the weather turns to shit). It was -20 outside. Upon pushing open the doors to go inside you are welcomed by a warm-colored room with shiny wood floors and ambient lighting. Clean lines and cool art work. Mason jar lighting rates high with me. If I can do something at my own house I am happy to see that someone else took the time to do the same in a public establishment. Booths line most of the room mixed in with high-top tables. We chose a booth. Because it was freezing and we felt like being cozy. In honor of my mother's birthday (no longer of this earth), I ordered a big ass bloody mary. Don't know what was in the mix, but it had a twinge of sweetness and I sucked that bad boy down in no time at all. Kudos to the waitress as well as the bartender for honoring my request for extra olives. Cheers! In order to convince the boy that he didn't need another pizza, I told him this joint served bacon. In a bucket, no less. His ham loving little self excitedly asked the waitress for one as soon as he had the chance. She told us that the bacon buckets were no longer on the menu (Whaaaat?? Why??) but that she would have a special one made up just for him (boy's day made). It. Was. Delicious. Tangy and sweet syrup in the bottom of a teeny galvanized bucket with giant, perfectly crisp pieces of bacon sticking out of it (adult's day made, too). Thanks girl. That was nice of you to do. Can you get a tip to the owners to put that shit back on the menu? Grazie. I ordered the blackened mahi mahi and a side salad. I've decided blackened should just be replaced with the word "ruined" and we will leave it at that. That is completely my error though, not Red's. I've just decided I've tried blackened stuff enough to know I will never like it. My side salad however, was absolutely perfect. Simply made, tasty dressing and exactly what I wanted. The boy had pork tacos which came deconstructed and he loved them. I sampled a small bit and the pork was really flavorful. He got his own bowl of guacamole with it which was a huge plus in his opinion. The hubs ordered the cuban sandwich and said it was delicious. We all ordered dessert, which did not disappoint! My sugar-free chocolate cake was rich, dense and delicious. Hubs ordered fried dough "nachos" that came with caramel dipping sauce - addictive. Boy ordered chocolate chip cookie with ice cream wedged in between. Not sure if the ice cream was house-made? I thought it was just okay. Taking off a star because it was freezing in there. I noticed more than a few people (as well as us) had their coats on. I assume the frigid temperatures along with unfortunate front door placement are the culprit. In any case, we will definitely be back and I'm sure this place will do great business in the summer. read more

My daughter and I tried to go to a place across the street with great Yelp ratings, but at 5:35 p.m. on a Saturday night it was on an hour wait....So we looked around and found Red's Place. The menu sounded interesting, so we tried it... and we are SO glad we did! The food was OUTSTANDING! She had the Portabello burger and I had the Cuban. YUM. and the best part.... DEFINITELY... the tator tots!! (we got three orders...no joke). I will be back when I head to Ithaca. read more

So good! The tater tots are amazing. Perfectly fried. Really tasty bar food. Not fancy, but delicious!

Great burger and salad, fast service, a good spot for lunch on a summer day. Attentive service.

So it was pretty good. They had a burger with peanut butter and jelly. The menu said "trust us" so I did. Well the burger was good, but not great. it could have been great... had it not had pb and j and rather ketchup and mustard. Oh well. I finished it up and enjoyed it, it certainly was not gross as the burger was cooked well. The bun was a little cheap for a $14 burger. 3 stars Tatter tots were 5 stars. Service was 5 stars. They had all sorts of fancy and pricier beers on tap, would have appreciated one cheap beer to go with all the IPAs and so on. 4 Stars Prices were about $3 to high. 3 Stars. So overall that is a sold 4 stars. Think I will go back and try something different to eat next time. read more

The service was very good but the food was ok. The mahi mahi tacos and the fresh catch sandwich both had off tasting fish.

The three of us came down from Syracuse for a day trip and stopped at Red's for lunch. It was a beautiful day, so we sat outside (pesky bees). The waitress was very polite and attentive. The reason for only (2) stars? The prices were way to high in relation to the portion size. For what we received $78.50 (includes tax & tip, but not parking) was ridiculous and we all left a little hungry. I personally don't recommend. read more

Red's. Or should I say Corey's place --makes a mean salad sandwich pizza and s'mores!

This place was such a wonderful surprise. Incredible food! We split the pomegranate kale salad and just veggie pizza and they were both outstanding! read more

I was organizing dinner for a group of 12. The food and service was fantastic and everyone found something they loved on the menu.

We had a great lunch there today. The black bean chili was both spicy and flavorful and with cornbread it was nearly a meal in itself. Then the daily special flatbread was truly awesome. Definitely worth going back. read more

Visiting Ithaca on vacation and happened upon this place. Great burgers and atmosphere.

Loved our evening here! We started with the Boom Boom Shrimp - delicious! Then we split the Flatbread Special - flatbread with chicken, pineapple mozzarella - very good! Service was very good. read more

I don't have a negative thing to say. Everything was wonderful. We had shrimp appetizer, burger and fish tacos along with beer, cocktails and dessert. Everything was spot on! Great, friendly service and worth every penny spent. Highly recommend this spot. read more

This was probably up there in one of the worst dining experiences I've had in my life. The whole outdoor seating area was filled with unhappy diners, where different tables would make eye contact and look sad about how bad the service was. Our server forgot one of our party's food, and didn't once mention their mistake or apologize. They just served the food to them after we made multiple complaints and had all finished our food. No apologies, just an explanation that things were "busy". So that's just that. Everything was very very slow, and we were just dying trying to get out of there. Also the food was just not that yummy, and very very overpriced. Don't get the loaded fries, you will be sad. When a restaurant is empty folks, take it as a sign and walk on by. Not worth going there even if it's convenient. read more

The hamburgers and steak fries here are usually good, but I got food poisoning two nights ago from undercooked bacon that was on my hamburger. I had eaten nothing else all day, and while eating the burger, I was seized with near-immediate and horrible symptoms of food poisoning. Also, no one ever, not once, refills the water glass throughout your entire meal--even on hot days. Bring your own bottle of water if you want to have enough liquid on hand. And don't eat the bacon. My husband had everything I had except the bacon, so we have no doubt that item was the culprit of my food poisoning. I noticed right away after the first bite that it was almost raw, so I took it off the burger, but that one bite was enough to do me in. read more

Incredible food = empty plate! The lamb meatball sandwich and buffalo chicken flat bread was amazing. Nice staff and good selection of beer. Absolutely recommend this place! read more

Pretty good place compared to the other midrange places. Nice bar, good service a cut above most lunch places around Ithaca's Commons.

Five stars for decor, five stars for menu (very creative), four stars for service. The big downer was value--portions are quite small for the price. We'd be regulars with a dollar or two off most menu items. read more

Very good! As sad as it is that Simeons and Blue Stone gone on Aurora this place good addition! Good food (awesome burgers) and service!

We visited Red's on a Saturday night and had a great experience. We will definitely be back. The crab cake burger was delicious as was the boom boom shrimp. And I find the fact that they serve gator tots very endearing. Great atmosphere. Great service. read more

I love Red's! I have never had a bad meal there and I recommend it to my friends. I told my husband that I am putting Red's into my Top Three Faves in Ithaca! Highlights: The Thai wings to start are awesome!! My husband loves the Lamb Burger. He has had it three times and he says it is like eating a delicious gyro. I have always gotten the Wedge Salad because it is -- and this may sound silly for a salad -- always a showstopper. They mix just the right flavors and amounts in their wedge salads. Stunning! I think the price for the amount is spot-on. I highly recommend Red's. If you eat at a normal dinner time (6-7pm), you shouldn't have to wait because since Red's is only a year old, people are still going to their old stand-bys on Aurora Street rather than trying something new like Red's. Eventually, I suspect this place will be a contender!! read more

The Cuban was the best sandwich overall that I have had in a very long time. Excellent ciabatta, firm yet fluffy with good flavor. The types of ham and pork loin that they use are fabulous and the smoked gouda cheese compliments them perfectly. My wife's Thee Bruschetta Flatbread was equally excellent as were the side of sweet potato waffle fries. Great service makes it a perfect five stars. Bravo to Red's! read more

The atmosphere and food were both exquisite. I felt warm, welcome, and each bite of my burger was absolute heaven. The only downside was the portion size. The food was delicious by all means, but I actually left the restaurant still hungry. Other than that, it's a great place in my book! read more

Stopped in here before a show at the State Theater. Good pub food and a menu that will make most pubsters happy. But, the service needs beefing up and the back of the house was slow, slow, slow. Burgers, sandwiches , and flatbreads shouldn't take this long. This combination of issues usually means that the staffing plan is too thin. Can't recommend it unless you have plenty of time. read more

One of the best burgers I have ever had. The Aurora burger was perfectly seasoned and you could tell they season their own meat. The service was great, which was surprising seeing as they are such a new place. I will for sure be coming back. read more

Good location. PB&J burger is a novel and surprisingly good idea. Good option!

Good food but the worst beer prices in ithaca... $8.00 a pint for average microbrews?
