We were excited to try this relatively new restaurant in Ithaca. The menu looked great, but both the service and especially the food quality was way below our expectations. The crab cake was dried out, hardly eatable, the burger was flavorless. Sadly the prices are much higher than the neighboring restaurants. I haven't said this about any Ithaca restaurant yet, but I am not coming back, because it was sooooo bad! Want to improve? Use better quality ingredients, make sure you actually serve what was ordered, don't make the customer wait forever for a horribly cooked meal. Either lower your prices, or serve the quality that your price range indicates... read more

Slow service and the waiter got my order wrong. Waiters do not write your order down and food was mediocre. Go anywhere else

Ate there a few nights ago. Our waiter, Justin, was terrific, steering us to what to order for both drinks and our meals. The special Macho burger was one of the best I've ever eaten. Food was excellent, and the service was equally excellent. Made for a great evening. Will definitely go back. read more

Service here- whether at a table or bar- has always been slow! It's frustrating because we love the food here. I get the turkey burger with sweet potato fries and side of blue cheese dressing for the fries! I have also had the brussel sprout appetizer and french onion soup bowl appetizers. We would go back more if the prices were lower and the service was better. read more

Great burgers. If they have the chorizo burger special, get it. (Note to Red's: add it to the regular menu. Why all burgers aren't half chorizo, I now have no idea. It changed my life.) I was happy to get food with some flavor in Ithaca - they actually season the meat here! Plus, loaded tater tots. You can never go wrong with those. read more

Great food, drinks, and service! The bang bang shrimp was sooo good, and so were the salads!! Would definitely come again!

Somehow neighbor Ithaca Ale House is always more crowded, and I can't understand why. The food is better at Red's (esp their PB&Jellousy burger, and their sweet potato waffle fries), the prices are the same, and the atmosphere fits either date night or friends hangout. I will say Ale House is much more lively but Red's is an underrated gem in downtown. read more

Red's has to be one of my new favorite places in Ithaca. I have pretty severe food allergies. When I mentioned this to the waitress she not only went and talked to the chef, she brought the chef out to talk to me. A little later the chef had a few questions regarding the preparation of my food in proximity to the allergens. The chef's questions and the staff's overall attentiveness was amazing; my partner and I were both very impressed. Not only was the staff amazing, the food was fantastic. read more

Interesting menu. Food was delicious. Great outdoor seating. Good location - close to the commons.

In town for 3 days. This is our second time here. Food is amazing with creative combinations. Service is great. Wish we lived closer!

Solid place. Lots of good looking stuff on the menu. Plenty of options for vegetarians. Portobello mushroom sandwich was good but a little over marinated. Steamed veggies were great. Awesome bloody Mary's. Liked it! read more

Had the Aurora burger. Food was good but portion was pretty small. I'd come here again. They also were very accommodating when we randomly showed up on Saturday night with 14 people. read more

I have been to Red's several times since they opened and the experience has improved each time. They offer a variety of food and drink options, and the staff is very friendly. They have a great outdoor space for the nice weather, which hopefully lasts at least another month! I only gave four stars because it consistently keeps getting better! Definitely give this place a chance. read more

I don't know how on earth this place only has 3.5 stars... It's amazing! One of the best burgers I've ever had, and nothing was too expensive. They have great service, an extensive menu of drinks and food, and the overall atmosphere of the place is fantastic! I look forward to eating here again. read more

Good place. We had the special burger and sweet potatoes fries. Quite good. Bun could have been better. The place has a nice terrace. It is a bit dark inside. read more

We ordered the lasagna pizza and the Mahi-mahi tacos. The tacos were pretty bad. Burnt fish, dark green guacamole that had been left out, hard tacos that hadn't been warmed up. Lasagne pizza was very skimpy with the ingredients. Won't coming back to this place. Maybe the beer is good. We didn't have any though. read more

The lamb burger I just had for lunch was really, really good. I requested it medium, and it came out juicy and flavorful--a fat, succulent patty on a fresh bun with a nice splash of tzatziki and a generous portion of feta cheese crumbled on top. (It also comes with a slice of tomato and raw onion). The liberal serving of fries was perfectly crisp and lightly salted. Service was friendly, but not fast, so that may be a consideration if you're in a hurry. The menu is maybe a bit broad (Chicken and waffles? Really?), but I'm adding Red's to my list of downtown lunch spots. read more

We loved this place! I'm surprised by some of the mediocre reviews. We both had a flat bread. I had the one with artichokes and lemon zest, and it was fantastic. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and bursting with flavor. Service was great. We sat outside on a beautiful Ithaca afternoon and couldn't have enjoyed the meal more. read more

Good, fast gastro pub. Outstanding cheese board appetizer and the flatbreads were quite good. We will definitely be back to try the rest of the intriguing menu. read more

I've been here four of five times and every time I've been its been an amazing experience. I serially get the Turkey Burger and it's easily the best one I've ever had. Their flatbreads are tasty too. I highly recommend "Red's Jelly Donut", my favorite dessert of all time! The service is always great and its always clean, definitely check it out. read more

So disappointed! Reds Place claims to be a restaurant that uses fresh local ingredients. Yet, when I shared that I have an allergy to MSG, a food additive, I was told "just about everything we serve has MSG in it." If it's true, this is really sad. If it's not, management should know what their staff is sharing with customers. We find it hard to believe a restaurant in Ithaca, NY is not MSG free by now. read more

Terrible service, the burger they served me was raw. Would never go back, even if somebody paid me 1,000 dollars. Awful.

We really wanted to like this place. The menu looked great, with lots of vegetarian options. The dessert list also looked good. My daughter and I went there for dinner on Saturday night. I am sorry to say that we were disappointed. We ordered the samosas, which were fine. The sandwich with the caramel used onions sounded so good. But then it came in this very cheap and lightweight bun and the filling was underwhelming to say the least. The salad with butternut squash and nuts etc also sounded good but had no taste. No dressing or anything to tie it together. It just looked like a bunch of stuff Oñ a plate. The worst was dessert. We ordered the s'mores. The brownie smelled really eggy and was very dry. There weren't enough marsh mellows and the chocolate and graham crackers didn't touch! Not at all the comfort dessert we were hoping for. Service was fine. They really need to improve their food if they are going to compete with the other superb eateries on this street in Ithaca. I wouldn't go there or recommend. It to anyone else l. Sorry. read more

this is a new place and I wish you the best. the apps were good. friendly service!

I will admit that I truly enjoyed my salad. That said, the service was super slow and not very responsive when I asked for my check because I had to be going. Due to the service not being super great, I responded by only leaving a 10% tip. I can understand if someone is having a bad or off day so I did leave something. Three days later, my credit card company contacted me about a possible fraud charge on my card. The $2 tip was charged out at $7. I remember doing the addition and totaling the receipt to $20 and change. I distinctly remember because it was the first time dining out in Ithaca where I made a point to not tip well in order to express my dislike of the service. I took the notice from the credit card company to the owner and he gave me a long defensive response explaining how these things happen and questioning when I printed my information from the credit card company because the cc companies sometimes post inaccurate numbers based on a national average of how customers should be tipping. I then had to defend my position of not going after information but being notified by the cc company and that I wasn't sure if there was an algorithm out there that would assign a $7 tip to an $18 bill. He then reached into his pocket to look for $5. He went to the register and just handed me $5 to make me go away. The food is expensive but as long as the staff can create the illusion that you couldn't do better yourself, then they are doing their job. The service is just trying to make some money so it's their job to also create an illusion that they care and will treat you fair and honest. Well, the food was on mark but I will not return to a place that I don't trust will care how I am charged. There are just too many other great places to eat in downtown Ithaca. You would think that a place right next to the Ale house and Viva would go a bit more out of their way to make customers satisfied. read more

Went to Red's for lunch for the first time today. The decor is cozy and homey and the banquette seating is very comfortable. When it became crowded, it was not overly loud and there was plenty of room...we did not feel like we were dining with those at the next table! The place was super busy with the lunchtime rush but the server, Kathy, was professional, attentive and friendly. The menu had something for everyone...and I, a very picky eater, had several items to choose from. I ended up with the Aurora St. Burger which with the crispy citrus bacon, arugula and garlic aoili served on a an especially fresh and tasty roll was delicious and perfectly cooked to order. The steak fries were fine, hardly exciting and I probably should have opted for the tater-tots, which I will next time. As far as the drinks...my beer was very reasonably priced as were my companions' top shelf mixed drinks. I left stuffed and satisfied and will definitely go back to try all the other enticing menu items I had to pass on this time. I highly recommend Red's Place as a reasonably priced go-to place for lunch. read more
