Ugh. I really wanted to like this place. But I feel rushed every time I go in here and the food is just not too good. I've given it so many chances for some reason but recently had an unsatisfying meal here. The food comes out in approximately 2 minutes and I always feel like everyone who works there wants me to get the heck out ASAP. Now for the food quality: The last time I went here, I ordered an omelet (Jan 2019) BIG MISTAKE DON'T DO THAT. It was very flat and cold and wet EW ick. My parents who are in their 70's took me here a few times. And both times it was not good. The only good thing about it was our sweet waiter, Chad. Very patient with my eldery parents as they do take awhile to order. 1st order: Chicken Parm sandwich with hand cut steak fries What I received: a generic chicken patty that every restaurant serves and pre-frozen weird tasting steak fries that originally came in a bag before it hit my plate. And they sell at any local grocery store. Nothing hand cut about them. 2nd order: Pulled Pork sandwich with sweet potato fries What I received: Thank god I pulled the sandwich apart and didn't eat the bread because HALF the sandwich was literally a huge glob of fat. Utterly disappointing and disgusting experience, which is shocking! This site needs help, it does not run like Salem!!! Thank god for the gal who use to manage Salem being there otherwise it would have been a total Cluster. The manager at this site is completely ineffective and in my opinion useless. While I ate the wait staff Clearing other tables put the dirty food dishes right next to me on the bar, Literally I sat next a dirty dishes the whole time it was disgusting... They were too lazy to put them where they belong which was certainly not next to someone trying to eat their meal. One of the dishes had to be a Caesar or something and it smelt like heck. I spoke to the gal from Salem, who was the only reason I didnt walk out and said how horrible this experience was and that I would tip her but not the waitress (she was there to cook I believe that day). She wouldn't take the tip....It Also should be said that she was institutional in getting out the orders, directing staff behind me, not the manager. I even asked her to get the couples checks across from me who had eaten and where getting take out because they had the scene useless waitress. I did speak with the manager about my experience and she again was ineffective and useless... This is a stop for colleagues and I on call on the weekends....Needless to say I wont be stopping and will advise them as well... The hash brown was not good. I don't eat pork there was bacon pieces in it. I asked the waitress if it's supposed have bacon in it she said no, and that it must have fallen in it. Mind you I don't eT pork, she never offered to change it. I wanted my steak tips well done but there was pink in it so they had to put it back on. It wasn't really good. We've been here a couple of times for low-key place to meet friends. Good all around and very nice and friendly staff as well.

Ahhhh, Red's is everything I wanted it to be. My favorite cafe is a place in Savannah, GA named "Clary's" and Red's felt like the northern version of Clary's. Everything was fairly priced and the food was plentiful and good. Everything was on point and it was one of the more solid meals we had in New England. It was so good we contemplated going back to Salem just to try something different at Red's. I got an opened face chicken parm sandwich with fries and my wife (New England was our honeymoon!) got a chicken pot pie. Everything was really good and my chicken was crispy. The fries were hot and everything hit the nail on the head. My only one tiny complaint is their coffee is pretty okay. It's not the best and it's definitely not the worse; it's the definition of alright. read more

Quality Control: The restaurant was extremely hectic this evening. You came to our table and asked us to put a review on here for you. Here it is. My wife and I are very avid restaurant goers, always love trying a new place out and this was our first time at Reds. Management here had very poor table side manors, one manager I'm assuming in particular (short haired woman with glasses) was far from polite to the table around us. We sat by the small corridor where coffee and drinks were gotten by staff. She was constantly shaking her head and did not respond respectfully at all to a party of 5 with two handicap elderly people, who were sat at a booth with chair end that was not accommodating to their needs at all telling them they can sit there or go wait by the door. Also she adruptly grabbed a chair from the table next to us for a far away table I'm assuming which startled the two elderly women sitting there, whichblater had guests meet them for dinner and did not have that chair. Polite thing you'd think would be to asking it'd be alright for her to take that chair as they were trying to enjoy themselves. I've had breakfast here a few times and it's definitely hit or miss. We come here mostly because they have bloody marys. Today was a miss. I ordered avocado smashed toast with pico de gallo and poached eggs. They must be out of avocados because it was slathered in store bought mushy guacamole. My husband didn't care for his hash benedict. He said it was also mushy and tasted like it came out of a can. And his potatoes were charred burnt and black. Even half a bottle of ketchup didn't help. I took a picture of my potatoes to show the unbelievable difference in what they should have looked like. How does a cook let 2 orders go out together with such drastically different potatoes? Came back to Reds for convenience and because breakfast was pretty good. Tonight's dinner was outstanding! Our server Shauna (sp?) was the hardest working bartender we have seen. Pleasant, enthusiastic, and a big Patriots fan! My beef tips were cooked just right and tender. Hubs had haddock bites and declared them to be flavorful and fresh-tasting. Heading out of Boston for a day trip - our "fancy" hotel's restaurant was slow and way too expensive. So we found this gem heading north. Food was probably one of the best breakfasts we've ever had. Tried out Red's for the first time and ordered a grilled cheese with bacon. I wanted some coffee too so I got a shot of espresso. The cheese was barely melted and lukewarm, and the espresso was astringent and hard to put down, had to add cream just to finish it. Mind you I've been a barista for years and I have not tasted an espresso so bad in a long time. My wife wanted pancakes but didn't want a lot of food. When she ordered the pancakes the waitress asked if she wanted 3 pancakes or just one. She was delighted because that meant she could just have one pancake and she ordered a hot chocolate as well. When it arrived it was the largest pancake I had ever seen in my life, it was literally a monster and was as big as their largest plate. I could not understand why the waitress would offer that without explaining that the batter for the 3 pancakes would be combined to make one large pancake. It was bitter on the outside and burnt. The hot chocolate was below average and the service wasn't great either and didn't even give us her name. Overall disappointed because I've heard a lot about this place and just wasted my money. If the waitress had just explained that the pancake was a monster pancake and if the cook just knew how to cook a simple grilled cheese maybe it would have earned another start or two. read more

I have been here twice. The first time it was the first week it opened. My husband and I sat at the bar. We had some duck appetizer that was small, unsatisfying, and overpriced. Also, I asked for three drinks(that were on their menu) and the bartender(nor the others) knew how to make the drinks. We decided to chalk it up to the place needing more time to organize and 'find its groove'. Second time, we took my friends here for breakfast/lunch. One friend had a buffalo wing wrap, which she described as 'the same as McDonald's, except I paid more here.' Another person had eggs benedict with cornbeef hash as the meat(as opposed to canadian bacon), which was described as flavorless. Another person had blueberry bread french toast, which was very dense and didn't have any blueberry flavor. I actually was happy with my choice - a Greek omelet. We made breakfast reservations a week in advance they took our credit card charged 100.00...when we arrive at 12pm there was a sign on the door that said "we are not serving breakfast"! Love Reds for all occasions! The food and staff are incredible. There new menu and Customer Appreciation is great, with $1 oysters (fresh, huge, clean, & not salty) and shrimp cocktail. Also $5 margaritas. Seafood dishes are large portions at a good price, great lobster options & yummy scallops. The classics dishes are great too, esp meatloaf (skip brown gravy!) Love the whipped homemade mashed potatoes. The deserts are amazing, enjoyed the carrot cake recently. I highly recommend any of the specials, esp the seafood! I've been here multiple times, and both my husband and I really enjoy it. The decor is completely dive-y, and I'm never sure if I'm in a diner, or a restaurant, or in a bar, but thanks to the varying degrees of food choices, I don't really care! I think it is great that my husband can order a pot pie with a flaky crust while I can get a pasta dish with 3 kinds of cheeses and a meat sauce that tastes like it has been simmered for 2 days. Went to Red's Kitchen + Tavern tonight for dinner. Didn't take any pics of everyone else meal because I was surprised by the size of my husbands burger. But I guess with they name it the Mammoth Burger I shouldn't have been surprised. He said is was very good cooked perfect Med Rare. he ate a little more than 1/2 (wanted to save room for dessert) This was only $16. I had the mushroom raviolis a little too much sauce for my liking, but was good. My daughter had the chicken parm and my son had the chicken, brocolli and ziti alfredo. All good and leftovers for lunch and each meal was only $14. My mom got the fried chicken which she like the onion rings a bit on the soggy side she had leftovers also and was only $10.
