There's a reason why the sirloin tips are mentioned in every single review. They really are the best. This is something I never would order by myself not a huge fan but here it was ridiculous. First off, I got the sirloin tips dinner with onion rings three others at my table of five also got the tips. The last person, our birthday girl opted for the fried shrimp appetizer, as she usually doesn't have much of an appetite. The fried shrimp appetizer had about nine very large shrimp and they were done perfectly. She would get that again. The servings range from 4 to 6 pieces so they're large. Mine had four I ate one in the restaurant and then one each for a couple of days for meals. Most people at the table ate two or three. We all love the onion rings. The fries were also very good. Which staff is efficient and pleasant and friendly knowing how busy this place is, we opted for a late lunch at 3 o'clock, and there were still four other tables eating steak tips. It's a little noisy inside like a dive bar but we were able to talk and enjoyed ourselves a lot. Highly recommend this place if you like steak tips. read more

I visited Champions on a Sunday at noon. It was amazing because there was no line yet! When I parked and walked in, I was able to choose from a bar seat or a 2 person booth or a 4 person booth! I have never seen that before and I have not had these choices to make! What a great way to start lunch on a Sunday. I had my regular, which is the bbq chicken plate with steak fries and a garden salad with italian dressing. Like before, everything was great! I got the salad first. It was fresh, perfect size and the italian dressing is just like my Mother's growing up! It brings back those great memories. Soon after finishing the garden salad, I was quickly served my main dish of BBQ chicken with steak fries. The portion size is great. The grill master was right on again....cooked perfectly and the perfect chicken breast size. I took my time eating and watched some ESPN talking about March Madness and all the games coming up on the Sunday. It was a great place to be and a great lunch to have! I have been to Champions approx. 6-8 times and each time I visit I leave satisfied with the service, the price and of course, the food! What a spot! One thing that I need to try are the steak tips! I have heard the battle about who has the best tips but I cannot offer my opinion because I have never tried the Champions tips! I will and I will write them up when I get a chance. Well... it's a New Year and our CA son has been in town visiting for the holidays Since he is a diehard carnivore, and it seems that the west coast doesn't really do Steak Tips.. there was only one place to go for dinner last night!! Arrived at 4 pm to ensure no waiting. And we sat right down in a comfy booth to order some delicious food This time, we (after ordering drinks) wanted to try their BBQ ribs as an appetizer. They came out quickly and perfectly cooked (medium) We're all accustomed to Houston's famous ribs so this was the high water mark to measure theirs. Nice taste and texture. Seared nicely with sauce on the side. Not "fall off the bone " but great flavor as was expected. We all ordered the steak tips dinner (I had the mixed grill steak and lamb) with their house salad and sides. As always, our favorite waitresses took extra time to ensure we were all happy. It's always a 10 and my son remarked that he's never had them this good and not chewy like most other restaurants. It is their signature dish and once again we were all happy campers and taste buds delighted. Wrapped up what little bit we didn't finish and brought them home for a snack today. They are starting their first Friday of every month with a Prime Rib dinner special. $19.95 with mashed potatoes and gravy and a side until they sell out! Starts at 5 pm sharp so plan accordingly!! Very good food however they need a modern system to let their customers know that a table is ready. If you sit near the door you have people standing next to you while you eat. So a suggestion, Purchase devices that you can provide to the customer , in order to alert them when a table is ready. They can go sit in there car on cold days or stay outside when warm. After hearing for months about Champion's steak tips, I went with my mother on a Saturday around 3 PM for a late lunch. We got there just in time before the place became extremely busy for dinner. We did sit for a bit before our waiter came to our table, I think he was the only one working the entire restaurant. I thought it was interesting that he asked if we needed to see menus, suggesting most people who go to Champions have been going there for years and have their orders memorized. We looked at the menu but both knew what we wanted: steak tips with onion rings. We got our side salads first and it took a bit to get the steak tips, only because they were being grilled fresh. Once they came out, they cut like warm butter and were incredibly tender. For the price, the portion size was good. Their steak marinade is on the sweeter side but it complimented the onion rings perfectly, which were perfectly cut and had the badder clinging to each ring. They do have a lot of other things on the menu, which I'm sure are great, but I cannot imagine going back to Champions without ordering the steak tips every single time. They are just as outstanding as everyone will tell you -- all the reviews and accolades are deserved. If you haven't checked them out, make sure you do. read more

Easily one of the best spots for steak tips... That's no surprises. That is what they are known for but this local pub is absolutely a rough jam. This is a dive bar off of one of the main roads in Peabody and getting lunch is something else. They give you a ton of food- which is great since a lunch order of steak tips is $32 dollars. And there is no website with current prices or menu - it's all on a facebook page?- so you aren't an always sure what you're going to pay. Ordered over the phone- this is a quick order quick pickup place or stay for a beer. They were just already at 12:15 on a Tuesday and the food was spectacular. Went there last night the signature marinade is gone, they were not tasty, the steak tips for the first time ever were tough, and chewy, and my steak fries must have been the bottom of the bag because they were only an inch long. Longtime bucket list, first time visit for their much-talked-about steak tips, and first visit was very impressive. Steak tips: Humongous portion, choice of side, and salad included, making it a great value even at $27 and change. Nice char, strong grill flavor, cooked to medium rare as asked, very tender, juicy, and just enough sauce to complement and not overwhelm. Flavorful mix of what seemed like Italian, teriyaki and barbecue to produce a whole greater than (and different from) the sum of its parts. Only downside: a few of the bites had gristle, but just a few. Overall: outstanding. Lived up to the hype. Onion rings: Clam shack version, very thin, very crisp batter. None of that puffy stuff. So right up my alley. Buffalo wings: Tried in an appetizer combo where you can pick any two from the menu. Just enough crispness, but exceptional juiciness and tenderness. Very piquant sauce that brought sourness along with heat. Pork shanks: On the bone, guessing cooked some other way first and then deep fried, served with a small dollop of barbecue sauce on top and a small pool below. Surfaces didn't look promising, but juiciness underneath came through. Moist and tasty throughout, with crispness on top. Not just dependent upon sauce. Service: It's basically a bar, but very very pleasantly surprised by the superb service from my main server Jackie and two others who also tag teamed efficiently. Friendly, enthusiastic ambassadors who exuded what hospitality is all about. All this and parking too. Great steak tips and so much more. read more

I was in the Peabody/Salem area and checked out Champions after hearing some rave reviews about the Steak tips. They did not disappoint! Juicy, with a sweet slightly tangy marinade- the slight char of the grill added depth, so good! I got the steak frites which needed salt but paired well with an extra side of buffalo and blue cheese dressing. I wasn't sure if the cherry peppers came with so made sure to ask for them. The portion of tips was generous and the entree included the salad and fries and overall was a good deal as it turned into at least 2 meals. This popular spot was packed on a rainy Saturday- there was a bit of a line but since I was traveling alone I slid right into an open spot at the bar. Paired with some cold beer and friendly convos with regulars I had a great time! Great food, good service and atmosphere... next time might try the onion rings or rice pilaf as a side and the burger looked amazing . I'll stop by again if ever in the area, check it out! read more

Yesterday my wife got the steak tips they were perfect. I switched it up a little. I got the turkey tips. There were moist and juicy and just like I like them a little charred she got the onion rings. I got the french fries and we shared also, it comes with a salad your favorite dressing two Coca-Cola's and the bell was very reasonable. I highly recommend this place but get there early because it gets busy. read more

Steak Tips, Wings, Salads We love Champions. It's a local pub with simple food, but the steak tips and turkey tips are excellent. The steak fries are worth every calorie, too. Champions is on our and most people's top 10 list of north shore steak tip institutions. The rice and salad are very simple too, but well worth it. Despite other reviews we have always had good service, but this is a dive pub, so set your expectations accordingly. Tip: Get a burger, the char broiler in the back of the bar is pretty special. Been hearing about the tips, and well, they are less than two miles from home so we decided to try them yesterday. It's kind of dark and divey, sports bar look. Bar is simple, with about ten stools. A couple of tables, and they even have 8 top tables for groups. I think this would be an excellent place to watch the Patriots! Food: Hubs, of course, got the steak tips, med rare. We saw the chef cooking everything, and he was masterful at juggling it all. The tips were dark, juicy, tender, so frickin tender! As well as cooked perfectly. We went around 5pm on a Friday night. Prime time and busy! Don't be fooled by the exterior. You might be a little scared off, but once inside it's lively. They'll take care of you. You'll be alright. We heard about their steak tips and had to try it out. It came with a side salad and choice of fries, onion rings, or rice pilaf. We (two adults, toddler) put in two orders ($27 each) of steak tips (one with rice pilaf and the other with onion rings) and we had plenty leftover. Onion rings were crispy, lightly battered. Toddler picked off our plates. You can probably share one plate among two adults, but you'll be wanting to take some leftover home! The BEST steak tips I have had...like I was dumbfounded for a hot second after the first bite. So delicious. Very tender, tasty marinade, and cooked to perfection. It was a bit of a wait to get seated, but definitely worth it. Line moved though. They have sit down booths, high top tables, and seating at the bar. Once seated, service was excellent - food came out fast and fresh! Multiple people checking in on us despite it being packed. They got a system down, like a well oiled machine. Was looking forward to going here with all the reviews. Me and a co worker went here on a Sat Nite. The waiter was awesome, i asked him if i orderd the Steak Tips Medium would they be pink inside ? He said yes. I said i will take them with frie & salad. Well i got 6 huge tips & the first 3 were spot on the last 3 were over cooked. The fries meh should of got the rings. Champions serves the best steak tips I've ever had! I love bringing friends and family from out of town to try them. The rest of the food is unimpressive. I have tried a couple other menu items and now I just stick to the steak tips. And skip the side salad. Tip: the portion of the steak tip dinner is generous! Two people can share it, or one person will have leftovers to bring home. Champions is definitely very, very local. Everyone knows one another. A Peabody local introduced me to Champions and told me all about the interesting history of the steak tip recipe. He also told me about how one of the current owners started as a server. It's so impressive and heartwarming! What a great legacy this place has. For the most part, service is good! Unfortunately, one server has really bad vibes. I don't want to get into it except that it's consistent. It's because of him that I feel unwelcome and worry that he might be rude to people I bring to Champions. read more
