SUMMARY: I know enough about cars to recognize excellent mechanics. Firstly, I'm a backyard (hobby) mechanic and we have four mechanics in my family. I can recognize when a shop tries to take advantage of me -- indeed, I play dumb when I take my vehicle in, to see what happens. I enjoy working on my old truck myself, but sometimes I don't have the free time, need speciality tools, get stuck, or whatever, so occasionally I need a mechanic I can trust. REDLINE is my go-to place. I've been using them for maybe four years now but just noticed I hadn't left them a well-deserved review yet. ** No BS, fair prices, quality work, no shortcuts, no work I don't need. ** These guys are good. I don't go anywhere else. I think most people cannot usually tell good (quality) work from bad, but I have read the Factory Service Manual and know what should be done and how it should be done. I price the parts beforehand -- both OEM and aftermarket brands I like. I either watch them work or I crawl under there afterwards and inspect everything. Verdict: These guys do the job right and the price is always very fair. I trust them enough that I don't even inspect their work anymore and I have my wife bring in her car for work herself. Don't be fooled by low bid foot-in-the-door tactics used by disreputable shops to get your car there and then they either do sloppy work (i.e. so they can do more jobs/day), use cheap parts (maybe why your bid was so low), or sell you work you don't need (I've seen this a lot with cheap initial bids, followed by an overpriced bid for additional work -- always get a second opinion if this happens to you). Furthermore, poor mechanics (usually techs) that can't diagnose a problem (correctly) just start replacing parts, at your expense! Take it from me, take your vehicle to REDLINE and relax, knowing you're in good hands. I certify that I have no connection to this company other than being a happy repeat customer. read more

Not sure what's going on with this place. They do not answer messages from thier site, nor emails. There is no phone to call with anything. I got one response out of 5 contacts, it was an automated email reply! Not sure which address is thiers. After 4 days of trying to contact, I guess I will order my 2000 dollars of parts elsewhere and have someone else install them... read more

Reviews below are for the old business no longer owned by Chuck. Shadiest business ever after I complained to BAR the shop agreed to write me a check as a refund for part of the repair after several reminders and visits they still haven't paid and made silly excuses. The check was being mailed to a pro box so It's definitely not lost. Please do yourself a favor and do not let these guys touch your car. I'm going to proceed with taking them to court. read more

This place should've been closed as soon as Chuck sold the business. Took my car for an oil change some time ago and they charged almost 3 times more than what Chuck used to charge. They are more expensive than the dealer and couldn't even figure out how to remove the cover to get access to the oil plug. Avoid this place. read more

I was referred to Redline Automotive. I am so happy that I was referred here. The mechanic was easy going and SO KNOWLEDGEABLE! I did not feel pressured to have my work done here, nor did they try to up sell me and their prices were reasonable. They have gained my trust and I'm sure I will be back because I have a 15 year old vehicle that I love and want to keep it running in tip top shape. I'm not from here and finding a trustworthy place to have my vehicle worked on is priceless. Side note: I couldn't pick up my vehicle the day it was ready because I had to take my Mom to the hospital, but I did pick it up the next day. One of the owner's (Libby) followed up with a call not only on the work they did but checked in on my Mom. It felt like home... read more

My car had battery troubles-they charged me to inspect my electrical system-which I told them I just had done, and installed a new battery. I asked the main mechanic why my car squeaks so much, he told me to turn up my radio, which was ironic considering they leaf the cable to my stereo disconnected when they installed the battery so there was no audio! I replaced my front end at Mostly Mustangs in Oakland-no more squeaks and awesome ride. read more

I have been going to this shop for 15 years with my SS Camaro. Chuck retired over a year ago and it was run by his nephew. So now it has changed hands again. I did not recognize anyone. I would say this place might be good at working on a "rice rocket" but don't bring your high performance vehicle here. Last Friday my daughter took my car in. I thought it was weird that they could take my car in at 2:00 pm on a Friday. I have been sick for six months, so my daughter gave them a previous estimate and list of things that should be fixed. She was told they would call her later that day with an estimate. Repeated phone calls went unanswered even though they told us they would be there on the weekend. Finally the phone was answered on Monday. We were told that they had done full diagnostics and now the price of repairs was $3000 !! My daughter had taken ill with a bad cold so we called back on Tuesday and asked them to do 2 things. One of the things they wanted to do was replace the rear main seal of the engine!! NO WAY would I trust this new owner to do the work. The woman who answered the phone didn't really know what was going on, she said she would check and then call me back. When she called back she said they couldn't do anything (not even the serpentine belt or the drivers side window felt!) unless we signed the estimate! Chuck would be really mad if he knew how Redline was being managed. So today (Wednesday) When we went to pick up the car, the bill was $85, for nothing! We never asked for a full diagnostic!! We already had an estimate for $500 that was only a month old. So the owner slams the estimate paper onto the desk and zeroes out the $85. He tried to tell me that most places would charge this!! I said "no they wouldn't not without telling me first!!" then he said "Shhhh, please take your keys and get your car out of here as soon as possible. We won't be going back there! They should rename the place! They sure don't know how to work on high performance cars!! read more

After realizing how difficult it was for a person like myself (no mechanic background) to install Shorty Headers into my Mustang (2016), I did some research to ensure I wouldn't ruin my car. Pure happenstance led me to Redline Automotive and I could not be happier! Chuck and Mike were fantastic from beginning to end; Chuck went the extra distance by explaining some of the more technical elements so I could actually understand. Not only that, but the original price quote and estimated time of completion ended up being cheaper and faster, respectively, than expected! An honest and qualified bunch! I can't say enough good things about my experience at Redline Automotive! I highly recommend them!! read more

Let me just say, these guys were friendly, responsive and saved me a lot of $$!! They were recommended by a family friend and I decided to go to them for a second opinion. These guys were able to evaluate my car the same day that I called, troubleshoot the problem and fix the issue all in the same day! I was originally told by my usually trustworthy, mechanic whom we have been going to for many, many years that the repair was going to be close to $2000, and he did not even offer to explore other less expensive options. At my husbands urging, I took my car to Redline where they started off by taking the least expensive route of repair and ended up fixing the issue for less than $200! They are now my "Go-To" guys and I would highly recommend them to anyone who's looking for an honest and reliable auto repair shop. read more

I have been a customer for geez... 20 plus years. We've brought too many cars here to count for servicing OR needing repairs. Never ever have we been misled or abused, in fact we have saved money coming to Redline Automotive. The owner & staff are more knowledgable than most automotive repair shops. I refer ALL family and friends here, our kids cars go there now too. We've brought everything from our daily cars, company vehicles, our exotics (Lamborghini, Maserati & Ferrari) here for advise and/or servicing. Redline has also maintained our vintage big block 427/425 '66' Corvettes. This shop is totally versatile. It's really hard to find quality and honest places like Redline Automotive. For my family & friends, it's important to know that the vehicle you drive is safe not just for us, but the kids, their friends, extended family - anyone we drive. I've never second guessed any of the cars over the years the service & knowledge is that good. Oh, also... When we've wanted to purchase a car that's not new, we always ask with the boys here for advise or for them to check over the car in question. Thanks Redline for taking care of us, prices are amazing, and it's nice to feel confident driving our cars. read more

I dropped my car off for repairs. My work was close by so they dropped the car at my work in the parking lot when the work was complete. Without checking the car I paid them the balance for the repair because things were pretty busy at work for me to get away, they seemed like honest guys. Later when going to the car to take it home I found that the front of the car had been banged up, chipping the paint up and breaking the license plate cover. I called Chuck to tell him what I found and like the classic mechanic says, "oh that was already there, but I will check with my guys." I told him I know for sure it wasn't there, also the damage looks new. He then says, "Well we have insurance for that. I sent pictures and He has since been ignoring the issue and not responding. Thanks a lot Chuck I appreciate it read more

Come here! Chuck is not only knowledgeable, but an upstanding guy you can trust to care for your whole family of automobiles! Rare find!

When it comes to automotive repairs, there is hardly a shop that can come close to the professionalism that Redline Automotive exemplifies. The shop is truly awesome to work with. I own a construction firm and the shop and primarily Stan, does the work on my vehicles, both my fleet and my personal cars, trucks and my motorcycle. It's a great shop with great guys working there. Kudos Chuck for running an honest business. Thanks. read more

We've brought our cars here and Chuck has always been great to deal with. He's fair and honest and will never force you into something that you don't really need. read more

Horrible experience. Brought my car in on a Thursday. Didn't get a quote until 6 days later only to find out they still don't know what is wrong with my car. Tried to upsell me with items that had nothing to do with the original problem. Untrustworthy and bad service. Very frustrated because they charged me for "diagnosing" a car, but when asked what caused the car not to start in the first place thhad no clue what caused it. I would not recommend them to anyone looking for an honest car mechanic. read more

I was referred to these guys from a friend when I had trouble with my truck. I had been gouged by the dealership more than once and did not want to go through that again. I had a very difficult problem to diagnose and not once did I ever feel intimidated, rushed or that I was "just a number". I got the impression that they guy actually cared. Never experienced that at the dealership. Bottom line was that they were super cool, and my truck runs perfectly. Oh, and I saved a lot of money as they were very reasonable. I will definitely go there again and would definitely recommend them. Just good honest people. read more

My husband and I have brought our vehicles to Redline Auto for years now. The owner, Chuck, and his employees are professional, honest, prompt, and communicate with us regularly about the state of our vehicle, the cost of the repairs, the value of those repairs, and the various options available. Sometimes the options that he suggests are ones where he doesn't make any or much money, but he puts his customers first and is always looking for the best value for his customer. We appreciate his integrity and highly recommend him! read more

It's often hard to take glowing reviews seriously. But I'm unrelated in any way to the owners of this business by family or friendship outside of my being a long-time customer of theirs. We have been taking our vehicles to Redline for years and have always been pleased with the quality of service and honesty of this business. Recently, the brakes on my car began to make a metal-on-metal type of sound, so I took it in to Redline and explained that I needed new brakes. I received a call shortly thereafter, telling me that there was plenty of rubber (or whatever it is) left on the brakes and that they just needed a minor adjustment. It cost very little and the brakes are just fine now. When my car has ended up needing repairs, they have always been done in a professional, timely way and I've just never had any problems with any work I've had done there. Having an excellent car mechanic that you can trust is one of those things that makes life just a little bit easier, and I'm very happy that I have that with Redline. read more
