First time at the new location. Arrived at 445 on a Wednesday and the place was packed! Summer solstice? They've done a nice job on the interior design with navy/gold/wood/mirrors and keeping the old brick visible. We got the last table which was a high top, tough for short people lol but we managed. They don't yet have an outdoor space but I can only assume it's coming. Beautiful big bar staffed today by 2 ladies who looked like they knew their stuff,they were busy and fast. All the drinks we saw looked cool, vibrant colours, and lots of choices on the menu for all tastes. My friend had the jalepeno margarita which she loved and ordered a second. We ordered the spicy cucumbers which were reminiscent of din tai fung, they came sitting on a bed of napa cabbage. Tasty but not super hot. The homemade char su pork was really tender, a decent portion with nice hot mustard, also a tahini based dip and sesame seeds. Delicious. My friend had the pork dumplings which were done so they have that lace like crunchy business from the cornstarch and she wasn't sharing lol, they were good. I got the marinated eggplant and trumpet mushroom bao buns. Wow that was the standout of the meal, some peanuts and crunchy jicama, but the savouriness of that eggplant was something I had never eaten and I've eaten a lot of bao buns! Servers were spot on. We mentioned we were hitting a movie at the Pickford and they had us in and out in an hour. Good thing because they had a line at the door. Only complaint was that the serving of cucumber was tiny for the price. All the other dishes were great value for money. Chefs know their flavours, will def be back. read more

I was a bit worried when the new owners took over this place and started making changes. However, they have done an amazing job. This place got the facelift I never knew it needed. This is by far our favorite bar and happy hour in town. They have happy hour every day from 4-6. $3 wells and discounts of wine and their nicer cocktails. Also fantastic deals on their amazing food. Their dumplings are so good and somehow just continue to get better and better. The pork and the tofu ones are my favorite. You have a choice of a spicy sauce or a ginger soy sauce ( both made in house). Both are amazing and usually we get one of each so we can mix them. They just recently added a cold chicken noodle dish and it is the best thing on the menu! The flavors are so rich and delicious! You don't want to miss this dish. All of their staff is very friendly. You don't have to order from the bar anymore. They have servers and table service. Their bartenders are all still really great. The drinks are soooo good. This place just continues to amaze me. Go. Wow, what an excellent place! First visit a couple of weeks ago. Have a couple of friends that love Red Light and I now understand why. On a Thursday at about 5, the place was already very busy. We waited up front and had requested a booth - which became available in about 20 min. Had cocktails while we waited. Every ingredient in the cocktail was.apparent and looked great - Dream Heights. A sign of things to come. My friend had the pork and scallion wontons and I had the Char Siu. Had one wonton and very yum. The Char Siu was amazing - every bite had such perfect clean, delicious flavors and perfectly tender bites. Panna cotta for dessert and again totally yummy. Every staff member was great. We ordered takeout from the Redlight for the first time. I don't know exactly how long it's been here but I am so sorry we didn't try this place sooner. Food is delicious. Great selection of wontons and sauces. We ordered the pork bowl, sesame noodle salad and pork wontons. All were amazing. It was difficult to Choose a sauce because they all sounded great- we went with charred scallion and were not disappointed. We hadn't check out their new location till last night. I was speechless when the host told me that parties of two aren't allowed to sit at an actual table unless the dining room is more or less empty, just "in case" a larger table might arrive. I was quoted a three hour wait for that to possibly happen. We were directed to seats at the bar or the cramped two top area in the front corner of the restaurant. From a business, money making viewpoint, I'm sure this increases their profits. From a customer relations viewpoint, it made me feel as though my business was not valued. Though we had a nice enough meal in the front corner area, we were not comfortable in the slightest bit, and before we even finished our meal, I just wanted out of there, needed some space from the other diners, some fresh air from the stuffy and warm environment, and my back was hurting from the backless stools and having to be mindful of bumping into other diners. I have absolutely no desire to return, no matter how good their food or drinks are. If the owner is trying to discourage parties of two or less from eating there so that they can make more money, then they have succeeded. However, they have also succeeded in discouraging me from returning in a larger party as well. Which is more important, the bottom line, or any customer, no matter what size of party, feeling welcome and valued? And by the way, not a single larger table arrived nor was seated while we were there. Bad vibes and comfort all the way around with this business move. read more

I've been frequenting Redlight for the past few months ever since a friend recommended it to me, and it has very quickly become my favorite bar in town! The staff is amazing, they love what they do and do it well, everyone from the bartenders to the cooks. The atmosphere is perfect for the area going solo, with a partner, or as a small group, and their music selection is frequently top notch, hear stuff you won't at many of the other spots in town. The bartenders are friendly, and make a point to interact with and get to know their regulars. Their cocktail menu is filled with creative twists on old classics and unique signature crafted cocktails, all delicious. Their specials update regularly, and I make a point to come in and try each, I've yet to be disappointed after all this time. Two friends from out of town joined us for a most excellent B'ham Friday night here. We lucked into an open 4 top table after a cancellation. First off, we loved the energy and diverse crowd. It is loud, but we still could hear each other well enough. Next, our server Tara was so helpful in guidance and suggestions after hearing our thoughts. Then, boy did they deliver on flavor! We shared 7 or 8 small dishes, from dumplings and wontons to bao to char siu and hot noodles. An unexpected standout was the grilled gailan, an Asian broccoli that was packed with flavor. We thought each one was so well executed, with clean, clear flavor and nice accent sauces. Next time I need to try some cocktails, though our wine suited the dishes well. I'm super happy to know they're open every day, and even open late! Finally, a great place to go after a movie at the Pickford even on a weeknight! What a delicious discovery!! I can't even think of the last time I had such flavorful food. Our waiter made us fancy NA drinks for dry January ("Postal Service") that were so complex and satisfying we didn't miss the alcohol at all.
