The tasting included only reds (yes!) and they were all surprisingly AMAZING! I don't normally buy bottles of wine when I taste (shame on me) but the hardest decision for me at Dynasty was, which bottle? We decided on the Meritage, but seriously, they were all great. They were also friendly but left us alone while we tasted - the perfect mix. If there were a 4 & 1/2 star option, I would've given them that. Quirky interior with great music (think La Vie en Rose) and rich, earthy reds. We plan to come back!

For $10, you are presented a selection of 6 wines - 1 white, 4 red, and 1 red or dessert wine. The selections are presented in cute carafes, and you are free to choose one of their lovely outdoor picnic tables with a great view of the area, or sit indoors if that's more your speed. It looked like there was some charcuterie available for purchase, but based on the increasing number of folks that pulled up throughout the afternoon, there was a strong trend of BYOS (bringing your own snacks). I would recommend this place to anyone looking for local red wine selections! They also have a wine club you can join.

I was early and hit up Banner Bank first--they had an amazing spread that was very generous of them (and that was rare to find). But my first vintner gave me what was a swallow--which I first thought meant he wanted to see if I liked the wine sufficiently to pour me a reasonable taster. Nope! I was relieved to find others were more generous, but I can't say I had $25 worth of wine that night. Also, being first-up was easy, then as time went on, long lines in a crush of people. One thing I did like was getting to see some shops downtown that I wasn't aware of. Some people might really love the whole experience--but, for someone like me, I'd rather just wander around freely and try different places on my own little wine jaunt. I would love to offer suggestions for making it a better experience, but I don't know...needs for what it is kind of dictate what it pretty much has to be, maybe...

For an admission fee (this year it was $25) participants are given a souvenir glass to take to various locations and get a pour of their fave red, white, rose, or sparkling wine. It's a fantastic chance to stroll the streets of downtown with friends, experience some new businesses, and (of course!) enjoy tasty wine. This year was my first year participating and I had such a great time! I even found a bunch of businesses I hadn't ever visited, and ended up buying a few bottles of the featured wines (they are all available for sale at Vinostrology for easy one-stop post-event shopping). The event does get quite busy and doesn't last long, and lines were VERY long by the time it got going, so word to the wise: start early!

Booking our adventure was extremely easy via the San Juan Cruises website. I greatly appreciate how detailed the reservation information was, and most importantly how courteous the entire team was throughout our time aboard. It was so nice to learn about them and get an up close view (within safe distance). They served a lunch onboard which was included in the cost, however we packed our own. They also have beverages and snacks for sale throughout the ride. I didn't bring binoculars on board, but I did see people with them.
