Freightliner Northwest (Redding) saved our butts and 7 week vacation. Our Class A Motorhome broke down on I5 in the Shasta mountains with a "Stop Engine Light" the afternoon of July 3rd, before the long 4th of July weekend. First, Good Sam made us figure out where to have our RV towed before they would send a truck. After a couple hours on the side of I5 calling several places (we don't work on RVs...or, we only work on the coach, not the chassis...or, we cannot see you until the week of 7/15...), we finally found Freightliner NW. Our day turned around when we started talking to Nick. He was very calm and reassuring that they could take care of us. He also referred us to Black Butte Towing (separate 5-star review) when Good Sam was quoting a 4-5 hour wait. In addition to his handholding us through multiple phone calls, Nick was there to meet us when we arrived around 10:30 that night and get us settled in for the night. The next morning, Justin picked up the baton from Nick and got our RV in for immediate service. The service tech, Brian, quickly identified the broken $45 part and had it replaced (and drive train reconnected) before noon. We were very pessimistic, given the holiday weekend. But feel very fortunate that Freightliner Northwest: was: - open until 11:30 PM the night of 7/3 - were open half day on July 4th - were able to prioritize our service that morning - had the part we needed - just damn friendly, in addition to being so competent For a trip we were seriously considering turning around for, or at the very least, assumed we would lose several days in Redding (due to holiday weekend), we ultimately only lost 1 day or our trip. Cannot thank the crew at Freightliner Northwest enough for taking care of us and getting us back on the road so quickly. read more

Our Motor home broke down and was towed Monday afternoon to Redding Freightliner Northwest. Erik the service manager was great, he kept us updated and dug into our warranty information. Tyler, their Allison transmission certified technician was off until Tuesday. They were extremely busy but knew that we were traveling and worked us in. Our rig was diagnosed on Wednesday & Thursday, repair work was completed Friday morning and we were back on the road headed home around 3pm. Both Erik and Tyler came in as we were checking out. Erik went over the warranty information Tyler went over everything concerning the problem & repair with us. We had a 7 hr drive home and our rig drove perfect, no problems. I would definitely recommend Redding Freightliner Northwest and wouldn't hesitate to take my motor home there for work. read more

I could write a book on this, but I'll just hit the main overview on my experience... I waited 2 days for a tiny part to arrive from a nearby shop which I could've rented a car & went to go get the same day I arrived. This may be the shipper's fault but when I had questions about it I was given the "it's not my fault, there's nothing I can do about it, we're both in the same boat!" Method of "customer service". I was told that I was an annoyance to them, yelled at, cursed out & treated like a piece of dirt all just because I am an owner operator with questions about the service on my truck! The Service Manager was the most rude & unprofessional person in a management position I have ever encountered! This was by far the most disgusting service experience I've ever had with Freightliner in 4 years as an owner operator... (& I have many bad times at their shops to choose from) but this one takes the cake! Parts department & the techs seem cool, but the culture of "service" on the part of the writer & the Manager is outright disgusting! Even if they are in a bad mood or feel that my questions are annoying to them, there's no reason to treat me with disrespect. If you don't want to be helpful & appreciative for your customer's business who are the reason you have a job there in the first place... get outta there & go do something else please! Your obviously not cut out for the service industry! I will be pursuing a formal complaint with the Freightliner District Service Manager & the BBB about this one! read more

Our motorhome went into derate mode (5 mph max) over on coast. Redding was the closest Freightliner so we got it there. Took them almost a week to choke out a 3 hour repair. My two-star rating is not for the quality of their technician's work. Nor is it for their pricing (they were very fair to us). My rating is for what appeared to me to be a laissez-faire attitude regarding a basic repair that was needed on our motorhome. Behind their confident smiles, the team often seemed to work reactively, not proactively. Sometimes there were notes in our file about our repair status, sometimes there were not. We were made to feel like we were an interruption to them. Even, at times, an imposition. And there were empty promises. Yes, the Redding Freightliner Service Department ("RFSD") did eventually, cheerfully fix our motorhome, but there was a sizable chasm of unfulfilled expectation that lay between what was stated at the service counter and what timely transpired. More than once, our hope waned, resting on what would become hollow words. On our side of their service counter, the experience was painful. I collected these helpful service-counter translations from my experience: * "I'll call you and give you a status report" = I'm not going to call you until the repair is done; if you want information before that you'll need to bug me. * "We'll get your part shipped overnight FedEx so it will be here tomorrow" = It is not going to be here tomorrow, but we will wait three business days before we wonder where the heck that FedEx'd part is. * "I wonder where the heck that FedEx'd part is" = Oops, when we went to find the tracking number we discovered that it is coming UPS, not FedEx (after watching for the FedEx delivery truck for two days). * "Let's see what's going on with your repair" = I don't know what's going on with your repair. * "I've got bad news..." = It's somebody else's fault, not mine. * "We know how important it is for you to get back on the road" = we are not going to consider any other options to get you on the road faster unless you press us on it. * "Wait in the Driver's lounge and I'll come and give you a status report" = I'm going to forget that you are waiting in the Driver's Lounge and leave you in there for several hours only to tell you later, that, at this extended hour, you're gonna need to try to find a motel for the night. RFSD tried so hard to be helpful. But, IMO, there was no appearance of consistent, forward execution, and no one seemed to take ownership of our problem. They are not a one-star company, they are better than that. They did eventually complete our repair, and do the work very well, but it was an anxious and frustrating experience for me and my wife. read more

There is a lot of things you can say about dealers but my experiences has been nothing but amazing and positive. I have had my one box DPF filter go out on my truck and the management and service members have been outstanding with fixing my truck. Forest was one of the head mechanics that I had the pleasure of meeting. He was helpful, knowledgeable and honestly someone who makes you feel like everything will be ok at the end of the day as he describes the problem and how it will be fixed. Rick Hobbs the Service Manager has been my constant contact from this dealer since my truck was under a warranty. Rick Hobbs must have been on the phone over 8 hours with dozens of phone calls on my behalf explaining why the warranty company should be paying per the contract I was under. I also called and talked to Nathan and Larry who were helpful and always up to field questions and answer concerns since my truck was down over a month. I cannot imagine my truck being fixed anywhere else. The service I received was was top notch and I will be back to buy a brand new truck from them in the future. I appreciate all of there hard work and I have nothing but positive things to say about them to all the drivers I work around. read more

My first experience with Freightliner was excellent. I had rated them 5 stars on here. After that, things went way down hill. Every time we brought our vehicle in, something new was wrong when we picked it up. Then when we brought the vehicle back for them to them to fix the new problem (such as the check engine light coming on), we were always billed for it. We paid huge amounts for service and then there was always something wrong and we had to pay more. We have since switched to using Warren Automotive and the difference is night and day. The costs are way more reasonable, the one time we had to bring our Sprinter back for an issue they took care of it right away with no charge. They also solved a problem that we took our Sprinter to Freightliner for 3 times and Freightliner couldn't fix but always charged us for. read more

Even after Redding Freight-liner was found to be performing maintenance on RVs without the proper State license by the California BAR, they refused to refund the money they illegally charged for the work they say they did, which was incorrect in the first place. their so called work led to an engine replacement for over $40,000.00. This case will be in small claims court this year. The Bar report will be available at the court and a matter of public record. Their is also a police record of the theft that took place while the vehicle was being repaired. The mechanics were the people who left the vehicles open on their lot, even after they knew that a trend of theft was taking place from their lot. read more

Buyer beware. My first and last experience with this company. Repairs are completed. Repairs performed that weren't authorized. No form of written estimate. Poor communication by the service manager. They lack integrity and come off as a take or leave business. A disgrace to the Freightliner name. Go elsewhere. read more
