I went here with my boyfriend because he needed a good, durable, high-quality pair of work shoes. Upon entering the store (around 4pm) we were greated by an employee named Dave. Dave took the time to talk to my boyfriend and attentively listen to what types of work he was doing lately and then the two of them walked around looking at all the shoes and he suggested a few, listing pros and cons for each, showing style differences, and asking clarifying questions to help assist. After this, my boyfriend did their ultimate fit experience to analyze his shoe size, feet width, and look at his gait and see where he is placing weight when he walks. From there Dave provided recommendations for the types of inserts that would be also good to get. As my boyfriend tried on shoes and inserts, he was able to walk around the store and feel them out, crouching down etc to get a feel for how they might work. Dave was incredibly patient with the process. My boyfriend ended up seeing a pair of shoes right before he was going to check out with a different pair that he wanted to try on. It was 5pm, the store should be closing. Dave was incredibly understanding and kind. My boyfriend tried on those shoes, fell in love with them, and ended up going with those instead. We left the store around 5:20 (with us profusely apologizing for taking so long), but Dave was always cheerful and friendly. My boyfriend is happy with the shoe purchase. He also got the leather balm, & also the 60% merino wool socks (higher % merino wool than you could find in an REI store). He ended up getting, but then returning, the orthotics the next day because they made the toe box on this last minute shoe decision switch too tight. My boyfriend said someone else was there the next day when he went, but that the return was straightforward and effortless. Their shoes are nice too because he got a pair that they can re-sole, providing great longevity for such an important investment. (Not all shoes they carry can do this). They can also apply an epoxy to the toe box (you buy the kit) to help protect it - he did not get that option, but he could bring it back a future time and purchase the kit and they will apply it for you. The shoes he got has BOA, which he says makes putting on and taking off his shoes when enter clients homes effortlessly stress-free! The BOA is also under a lifetime warranty- if it breaks, you can bring the shoes to a Red Wing store and they will fix it. He got composite toe, but they have steel toe, and aluminum toe too. Some shoes look really dressy, they have also cowboy boots style ones too. Note: expect to spend average around $300-$500 in total. But for shoes that literally are top-tier and will last forever and that you can get re-soled (for a cost, not free), you will get a good Return on Investment (ROI). Also, these style of shoe my boyfriend got was Made In America. Their lower price tier shoes were not, but I feel I should also mention this for those who specifically look for American Made products - there are multiple styles (mostly the Red wing brand shoe) that are Made in America. They had seats for me to sit and wait, as well as a bench for him to sit on to try on shoes. The store was very clean and pretty to look at. I highly recommend this store! And also their shoes! Also Dave deserves a raise! Seriously - someone that personable, caring, attentive, and with top tier customer service skills can be hard to come by. Thank you Dave!!! read more

So I started working in a construction field and was told red wing shoes are really good to invest in them. After investing in a $300 pair of work boots I was told that the boot that I bought was the only puncture resistant soul that they had. After I was gifted another pair of RedWing boots(from the same store) that were cheaper and exactly what I needed without breaking the bank. Seeing that I had already purchased a $300 pair of boots I tried returning the Christmas gift boots that I had received with the boots purchased at the same store the store refused to take the booth back, even though they weren't worn or scuffed. They just pushed me off to another store so they didn't have to deal with it. The store associate didn't even recognize me after being there more than 6 times or greet me in a friendly manner.
