Best of all fantastic and attentive staff, Tiffany was our waitress for this evening and she went above and far beyond anyone who has ever helped me in my life. Meh... unfortunately! I was super excited to order chicken parm from them- I always heard great things about how classically Italian their food is or was... what I got was super underwhelming. Sauce tasted like it came from a can- chicken breading just falling off, soggy. Pasta was also not special. Won't be ordering from here again. read more

First of all, I ordered the thin crust pizza because that is the only kind I like. Otherwise, I only eat the toppings and completely leave the crust. It's the crunch I enjoy. They advertise their thin crust pizza as exactly that...with a crunch. Sadly, not so much. If one really likes thin crust pizza, don't get theirs. Secondly, and really worse, they use canned mushrooms. Seriously people! This is 2019! Get fresh mushrooms, for God's sake! I piled them all up on one slice. As you can see, the crust isn't thin either (although the very outside edge did have a crunch). I could forgive them the not thin thin crust. The canned mushrooms? Absolutely not! Apparently, they put fresh mushrooms in their dinners and canned mushrooms on their pizza. The mind boggles. read more

I picked up lunch from these guys today. There was literally not a single thing that could have been done better. Called and ordered, friendly, easy, accurate. The family style large salad alone is worth driving to Springfield. Parking is beyond easy since there's an attendant to make sure casino people aren't occupying the lot. Service was fast. I had chicken francaise. When it comes to chicken, I am very picky. This was excellent. Lots of lemon (but not too much), chicken cooked perfectly, buttery noodles. Omg. I am rating this a 1 due to the inflexibility and rudeness of both the daughter and owner. How times have changed through the years. No loyalty or flexibility to seat us as a party of 7 when we were going to order appetizers until my son and granddaughter arrived! as a party of 7. They absolutely refused to seat us or show any flexibility. My family has been coming for years but this was insensitive and so disappointing. There were tables open and sufficient tables. I am writing this on behalf of my sister. She used to eat here about 35 years ago while attending college......and loved it. Over the years she thought of it often and said her mouth would water just thinking about it. While visiting me in NY...She drove there to take her son there to eat yesterday and said it was even better than she had remembered it to be ......the food was incredible ...phenomenal... bellissimo!!! the best Italian food she's had in many many years in the states...and she's Italian. She highly recommends this place to eat for it's pizza, pasta, for the salad and it's bruschetta ....none compared to this place. Went here last week with my family. This restaurant is family friendly. The staff that we interacted with were all welcoming and friendly. This place was a great stop. It was definitely packed at lunch time and clearly a popular location. My friend recommended it because it's a favorite amongst the locals. So we stopped in and wow. The place is pretty big inside and has a side room area that houses a full bar and plenty of tables too. The servers were super friendly and quite frankly all staff were helpful and had great personalities. The food came out fairly quick despite the crowd. The salad was great and we ordered a small pizza, which I would say most might equate it to a medium or large at other pizza locations. It was amazing. The crust was perfect and the toppings were a plenty. I recommend this place if you're visiting the area...I'm pretty sure if your from Springfield you're already frequenting here. read more

Drove up from Bridgeport ,CT,for lunch on Wednesday.Started off with warm fresh bread and olive oil for dipping.My father had fettucine with garlic oil and broccoli.Nice lunch portion.He said it was delicious.I had spaghetti with red clam sauce.Mouthwatering.Finished off great lunch with a glass of Chianti.We have eaten here 3 or 4 times,and its always good.Met the owners,The Caputo,s ,nice Italian family.Old school at its best.!!LOL. read more

My experience was at the bar top where the SERVICE was quick and friendly though quite busy. I decided on this place based on the great reviews from Yelpers. It's about 2 minutes walk from where I was. Today, it was freezing and the wind advisory made it even worse. This place is pretty big and when I walked in, I was greeted by a woman and she sat me down right away. When I went there, it was a lunch time still(after 2pm)and there were good amount of customers eating there. My waitress Jo was very nice and welcoming. I ordered cup of New England clam chowder and it was so hot and good. I also ordered fettuccine with mushroom sauce(fresh mushrooms), I thought I was in heaven. I wished I could find a place like this at where I live in North Texas. I assume this is where the local folks come to eat as some customers seem to know each other as well as people who work there. I got something to go as I wasn't planning on going out to find anything to eat later(the temperature was going to drop even more as the day progresses according to the weather report). Later on at dinner time, I opened it up to find so much food!!! I will have to take it home tomorrow. It was a very good experience. I'm glad I came here. read more

Yes, I join the multitude of high stars in my rating because Red Rose is really that good. Culinary experiences have evolved over the years, with new ingredients and combo's being introduced to the diner, and don't get me wrong, it has expanded my pallet in ways I never thought possible. However, nothing can ever replace recipes that go back decades, and Red Rose prides itself in keeping it's original recipes from when it first opened in 1963. The place was filled to the gills when I went. We were originally given an hour wait and it was only 5:30pm. That's always a good sign. No problem for us, our party of 6 split up and some of us ventured into the neighboring casino while others waited at the restaurant. Once we were seated I took a look at the extensive menu and couldn't decide. Everything looked awesome! I ended up with the lasagna, as that's my staple whenever I'm in an Italian restaurant. We started with an enormous bowl of salad that was perfectly fresh and included a tasty dressing. Delish and I could have made a meal out of just that. But when my bubbling, baked lasagna showed up, I dove right in. Gooey, melted cheese over a meaty sauce and layers of noodles was the perfect medicine for a cold night and thanks to a huge portion, made for an equally good lunch the next day. Others in my party ordered pizza, egglplant parm, and chicken francais. Everyone was raving over their food. I can see why this place is a local Springfield staple and a crowd favorite.
