This place has issues. I ordered Zuppa di clams. The dish was extremely oily and even grainy. Also the garlic was pretty coarsely chopped. I'm talking 1/4 clove. I couldn't eat it. It was taken off the bill after speaking with the general manager. There was another manager that talked to me first. After no resolution, the general manager came to the table. Also, they all seemed to think I ate the clams. However, I only extracted them from the shells and mixed them in the pasta. They made it a point to call me a liar and say they sifted through it. Red Rose Pizzeria has been a family favorite place for years now. Red Rose has the best family staff in the area for miles. They whole family is dedicated to providing the best service, food, and quality. The servers are always very nice, accommodating and do their best to make you feel welcomed and leave happy. Many years ago I had the pleasure of coming here with a group of other students to make our own pizzas, the owners opened up their restaurant to myself and other kids. They showed us how to make the dough and handle it properly to make the perfect base for pizzas. We all learned how to throw the dough up into the air just like a classic Italian restaurant. We then proceeded to make our own custom pizza with all the toppings we wanted. I'll always remember this experience and how wonderful everyone was that took care of us. I just came here recently and ordered none pizza dishes for the first time, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I wasn't a huge fan of the root beer float, I felt it lacked real root beer flavor and tasted very watered down. But the food was delicious. We all had a lot of leftovers. So although the food is quite pricey, you do get one than one meal out of it. I wouldn't come here all the time because of the price, but on special occasions for sure! read more

A hidden gem in Springfield. There's a few other good Italian places around the area, but this may be my new go-to from now on. Red Rose is right next to the MGM and while it's been around for awhile, the opening of the new casino has certainly drawn more attention to this place - it was pretty crowded when I went on a Tuesday night, but service was still on point despite the crowd. The dining area is very spacious and well-decorated, and the interior is much larger than the space looks from the outside. The menu is lengthy, to the point where it was difficult to choose from so many great options. I ended up getting the Chicken Francais which was huge - I had enough chicken and pasta for lunch leftovers the next day. All of the food, even the free bread, was incredibly fresh and tasty. Most entrees come with salad or the soup of the day, so come hungry, because you'll leave very full! read more

Only place in town open on a Sunday night. They know how to handle a crowd. We ended up sitting at the bar - which worked for my husband who was grateful to watch the game. Delicious and a must try for any regular pizza lover or someone who likes to play around with the toppings on their pizza every now and then. My husband and I make a point to eat at Red Rose every time we are in Springfield and occasionally make trips there solely based around that purpose even though we live almost three hours away. This place was recommended to me by a local with a thick Italian accent and a strong propensity for Italian food. If an Italian says and Italian restaurant is good, it MUST be. I visited on a Friday night during prime dinner time, and i was impressed with how packed the pace was! The bar only had a couple seats, and the two very large table seating areas were full...very full. As a single diner, i was happy to find a place at the bar for a beer and zza. The had a solid handful of local craft beers on tap, and as an IPA lover the Wormtown "Be Hoppy" was recommended to me...and it did not disappoint. In fact, i had three more over my weekend in Springfield, MA. For my pizza, i chose the Spicy Buffalo. Delicious. It was a 10 inch crust, with whiter ranch sauce, grilled chicken, and drizzled with buffalo sauce. The crust was thin, flaky, and crunchy. I carried 4 out of six pieces back to my hotel...as i saved room for dessert. The dessert menu was simple, but had the core Italian desserts...cannoli, tartufo..., tiramisu, etc. I gambled and chose cheesecake, and it did not disappoint! A VERY hearty portion of cheesecake topped with strawberries and whipped cream arrived...and i should have only at half, but ate all of it, and licked the plate (jk). There was some rumbling about the new MGM casino giving a reignition to area and the restaurant. I would say even without the casino next door, that the food can stand on it's own and deserves a visit! read more
