Pretty tasty...especially the Rotisserie chicken. The ribs are good, but they are the opposite of "fall off the bone"

I probably should've listened to my co-workers and got the chicken. I had the Portuguese ribs and let me tell you, you gotta work for the meat! The flavor and sauce were amazing, but the meat was not fall off the bone material. Hidden in my "10-12" sized portion ribs were 3 that were just not ribs at all... 1 was a giant chunk of fat on a bone and 2 were giant chunks of cartilage just covered in sauce disguised as ribs. Also, there's this one fruity orangey drink that was recommended to me, I do not recommend it to you. It tasted like bubbly aspartame with a dash of artificial orange flavor. I tried one of the chicken wings though, and it was deliciously juicy. Chicken is probably the way to go here. On the plus side, the portion sizes are huuuuuuge!

Red Rooster is my favourite place to grab some take out Portuguese food. I've grabbed single meals, family dinner packs and large catering trays from this location and have never been disappointed with my taste buds. Great chicken, great rice and great potatoes Why only 3 stars if I enjoy the food you ask? The place seems disorganized. The waits times are horrible. I have always pre ordered and have waited up to 30 minutes AFTER the set time. I'm also not exactly impressed with paying an extra $5 for a tiny container of spicy sauce, which is a staple in the meal and should certainly be included. Every time I order from here I leave frustrated with the wait, but end up forgetting about it once I dig into my food. I would certainly recommend trying it out if you're not in a rush or catering for group of hungry people!

The chicken used to be superb and now the potatoes are squashed on take out. Chicken has a bit of burning smell. Bring the good meal back

I was craving for the shrimp patties and the only good ones were usually downtown. I found Galina's Bbq via Yelp, so I knew I had to get some to try. I got the whole chicken dinner and I was AMAZED at the portions! For under $50, they legit packed the rice and potatoes to the top! Everything was super tasty but the shrimp patties could had been better if I reheated it in the oven. The chicken was super moist and the potatoes were so delicious. The rice was a bit too salty though. Service was great; the waitress told me her aunt opened this restaurant more than 10 years ago. The restaurant was clean and spacious, but definitely not super big. I would definitely come back for more!!

We arrived for a late lunch on a Sunday, the dining area was empty so we got to pick of tables. We ordered two appetizers, three entrees and a drink. The meal started out well, with some bread, butter and preserved olives. It was lovely to have something to nibble on while waiting. 30 min later, the appetizer of chirizo sausage arrived. It was set alight table side, and we enjoyed the crispy hot sausage. Unfortunately, it took another 30min for our entrees to arrive. My chicken dinner was not even warm, the veggies were overcooked and cold. The only thing hot on my plate was the potatoes, which were delicious. After such a long wait, it was disappointing to be served cold food. Also, our second appetizer never came and we had to remind the waiter not to bill us for it.

Back to why I do this. I'm endlessly curious about food, people, and the magic that happens when great meals meet good music. Friendships just seem to evolve naturally around a table. And thank you, E, for another incredible photo -- your choices are always perfect. Mercado on St. Clair is a hidden gem. What was once beside my mom's flower shop downtown has now found a home in a slightly more industrial setting on Caledonia -- and somehow, it works perfectly. Cozy seating inside, a great covered patio outside, and that village-style European restaurant vibe you hope to stumble across. First off, the waiter was phenomenal. He walked us through the menu, explained everything perfectly, and genuinely elevated the whole experience. The menu is massive -- meat, seafood, everything you could want -- but we came for the paella. We were told it takes time because they make it the proper way. Not overly crispy, just authentic, rich, and layered with flavour. Worth every minute of the wait. To start, we had the gambas / shrimp in a rich red garlic and herb sauce plus extra toasted bread for dipping, per our waiter's recommendation. Absolute rockstar move. The other appetizer was a delicious beef stew served over crunchy rustic bread. Simple, hearty, and top notch. Now... drum roll please. This may have been the best paella I've ever had. Okay okay, maybe somewhere along the coast in Spain I've had one fresher... but this was absolutely off the charts. Zero fishy smell. Just beautiful saffron-infused rice with that perfect slight crisp, loaded with mussels, clams, octopus, calamari, shrimp, and more. Built for two people to share and completely unforgettable. A few glasses of house white later and bam - there was absolutely no chance I was going back to work. And dessert? I kept telling myself: "No dessert, Frank. No dessert." But there's a rule in life ; if you see crème brûlée on a menu, you order it. This wasn't exactly crème brûlée, but a cheesecake-inspired version of it. Two spoons, four bites, and thank you very much. Favourite meal of the year so far. Completely blown away by this place. Mercatto -- go now. Go fast.

I ordered a 1/2 chicken and a small fries and pop. This works out cheaper than getting a combo which gives you 2 sides but no drink. The chicken was disappointing. They cut a half chicken into 4 pieces and flame grill it. This caused the dark meat to become too dry and overcooked while the light meat was passable. The sauce was decent but it was barely on the surface and did not get absorbed into the meat at all. Clearly not enough marinating time. The fries, on the other hand, were pretty awesome. They were perfectly crispy on the outside while soft on the inside. That's what bumped the rating up to 3 stars instead of 2. To summarize - avoid the chicken, get the fries and buy some sauce to take home.
