There's parking both on the street and behind the restaurant. We came on a Saturday around lunch and the wait was about 40 minutes. Just a heads up there's no seating while waiting, and it's cash only. The first time I came here, I got the medium 1/2 chicken meal with a natas, plus a striploin on the side. Everything was really good and honestly worth the drive. The second visit wasn't as smooth. I ordered the Bife à Casa and expected regular fries because I saw them in someone's Google review, but it actually comes with fried potato rounds instead. I called to clarify in case I got the wrong dish, and they confirmed that's how it's served. In the end, the potatoes paired well with the steak, so I wasn't upset about it. What did disappoint me was that they forgot the gravy that was supposed to come on the side. When I mentioned it, they acknowledged it should've been included and said I could mention the issue next time for a possible discount. Service also felt a bit disorganized during this visit. My steak took a while, which I can understand, but another customer's chicken sandwich was missed completely and she had to wait an extra 10 minutes after already being told it would be quick. Just a little bigger than Quale. When ordering, I wanted moist - the girl at the counter, and a cook said to get the rotisserie vs grilled. It was totally dried out. Disgusting - almost inedible. I don't generally operate out of this part of town, but I happened to be meeting someone in the area for a kijiji purchase. Being someone who loves to eat, I naturally scouted what the good food options are in the area. I'm in the area anyway, might as well. I ended up choosing Costa Verde as my dinner option. I went in just before 5pm and the place already had a buzz with people lining up for takeout and patrons dining in the restaurant. Quickly you can tell he place is a local favourite. You can directly see what's going on in the kitchen in the order area. Right away you sense the energy and the Portuguese flair of the cooking and service staff. At the counter, I was really contemplating getting the ox tail or the chicken. I went with the safer bet - chicken won out. So I ended up ordering the half chicken combo with potatoes and vegetable. The chicken was flavoured to perfection. The impressive part about the chicken is the skin. The skin has an appropriate slight crunchiness to it that all fresh bbq chicken should have. The chicken also had just enough burnt taste to it which is what authentic barbecue is all about. This is all happening while the chicken itself remain moist. Portions in general for both chicken and sides are good. I look forward to be in the area again and try other menu items at Costa Verde. Pros: Very good Portugese Chicken Cons: Navigating out of the parking area is tough. Part 2 of my Portugese Chicken adventure brought me here. St Matthew's was my first spot and it pretty much set the gold standard. I lucked out when I first came here because I accidentally made a turn at the intersection. Turns out that's the better way to go as it leads you to the back entrance where there's a bigger parking lot. The front entrance only has a couple of spots and is adjacent to Keele which does not make it easy to get it or out. Stick with the back entrance for this place. The back entrance seems to also be the take out entrance. As soon as you walk in, you're basically met with the take out line as you walk in. The line moves pretty quickly so you're in and out in no time. I ordered two whole grilled chickens and was out of there in less than 5 minutes. The chicken was very good. Very flavourful and dry at all. It's not as good as St. Matthew's, but it's up there. At $12 a chicken, it's the cheapest one I have found to date. Again, this chicken passes the mother in law test as well so yay!! My only gripe is getting out of here can be a bit of a headache. It's right by a major intersection so if you're going against traffic coming out, it can be quite a task to get out of there. Costa Verde is great place to get your Portugese Chicken fix. Portions are massive. Had the grilled pork platter. Enough for THREE meals. I could not believe the size of the portion - the waiter told me that these are "Portuguese portions". Regardless, way too much food. Cut back on the portions and adjust the price-point! Pork was not bad, seasoning ok, background taste of piri-piri (and I am from South Africa so I know my piri-piri). Stumbled onto this little restaurant on my way to Humber River Hospital. This place has more parking in the backside of the restaurant. Apparently this place closes up once a year sometime around August. There are two ways to order here, you could go to the take out area and wait in line, or wait to be seated at a table. We decided on eating in and ordered the full rack of ribs with 2 sides of potatoes and rice for $25+tax, and a half chicken with 2 sides of coleslaw and fries for 11+tax. Our server got our order wrong and thought we ordered a half rack of ribs, but that was corrected later, no big deal as we took it home. This place is unbelievably hot inside. There is no ventilation! No A/C! It was too uncomfortable trying to enjoy a meal here. The chicken was great (though a bit on the dry side), it had a lot of flavour and the fries were so good! Crispy good. If I were to come back, I would just order take out. The ribs are nothing to really write home about, and even overpriced imo. I would just come here for their chicken. Came in for lunch. Ordered 5 meals, 4 drinks and small olives, cost us $72. Lots of choices at the hot table. Pick one main and two sides. The "bife a Casa" is a skirt steak with fries and a fried egg. It was a good cut of steak and could of used some salt/pepper on it, but otherwise was good. Kids got the fried fish, they really enjoyed it. Husband got the codfish, but he said it was too mushy. The "favas" (beans) were really good and tender. Rice was good too. Good seating area but I really didn't like eating in a tin take out container with plastic utensils. Real plates and cutlery would be a HUGE improvement. I haven't ever dined in, but there is a huge hot food counter to choose from for takeout. We live nearby so this is always a good option for a quick hot meal that is fairly inexpensive. There is always plenty of staff working so your order is taken quickly and you're out the door within minutes. This place is as impossible to park as it is to make a choice on what to eat. Once you enter you are greeted with rows of rotisserie chicken (like a Swiss Chalet commercial) and neatly tiled pieces of meat and fish on the grill. There are literally tons of stuff being grilled right before your eyes and makes you wonder who is eating all that until you hit the line and realized apparently there are lots. Everything looked fantastic and I wish I could try them all but of course I had to go with the Portuguese staple of a whole roasted chicken. This stuff is pretty tender and the flavours are decent. I can't say it's the best I've had but it's pretty darn good. I love the hot sauce and I make sure the chicken is well lathered with it. I do wish the chicken was a bit more flavourful though and it lacked that pronounced charred taste that makes it special (no, no burnt but more like a charcoal grill kinda taste). Probably because it wasn't grilled over charcoals like it is traditionally. I am interested in heading back to try other stuff but I would say 3 stars is fair for now. So very disappointed. My daughter had placed an order a week before at this place. Since neither her nor her husband drive my husband and myself agreed to pick up the order for my little granddaughter's birthday. Upon arriving I was told there was no order and my daughter must have gone to another location, there are more but it's not like a Tim Hortons. Anyway all the workers gathered around and kept repeating the same thing. That she must have gone somewhere else since there was no order. There was one girl that was quite nice and trying to help but the rest of them were very condescending. I called my daughter and tried to get a description of the person who took her order but I kept getting dismissed. They told me that it didn't matter, they didn't have the order and if I wanted the food I'd have to reorder, pay and then wait about an hour for the food. I felt I had no choice because I didn't know of any other place close by and I didn't want my daughter stressed or my little granddaughters birthday to be spoiled. I placed the order and at the cash when the girl gave me the amount it was more expensive. She was clearly annoyed when I questioned it and the other girl tried to help by breaking down the cost. Chicken was $12.50 each which wasn't the price my daughter had been quoted so my husband piped in saying "sure they made a mistake on the price and conveniently lost the order". The girl on cash told us they had heard enough that they were trying to help so either we could place the order or leave. I told her that I appreciated the fact that they were trying to help but should also own up to their mistakes. A young gentleman in the back then piped in and said "you know what, I'm the owner and were not taking your order -you can leave - go leave now". This is the first time that anything like this has ever happened to me. Such disgusting and disrespectful behaviour. My daughter called later and was told that she was full of sh*t by I am assuming the same person. They were all young people and I hope that none of them treat their parents this way. Not sure if this is a franchise or family owned locations, as there is one on oak wood and another in the city of Vaughan but for me the name and anything or anyone associated with it has been tarnished. Silver lining was that when we left and drove along keele to find another place we found churrasqueira Estrela next to separate bakery. Didn't even know this place existed. Excellent service and food and only had to wait a few minutes. The owner even came out to help from the kitchen as more people were coming in so the wait wouldn't be long. They were super nice. I didn't tell them what had happened until after I had paid and gotten the food and the owner was so gracious - he said he didn't want to say anything because they all needed to make a living. BEWARE. Went into this location (Keele/Wilson) early evening on Saturday, March 3rd. Placed a HUGE order for my daughters birthday for Sunday, March 11th at 11.30am. The gentleman who took my order was superb and wrote down everything and relayed pricing to me and showed me all the tray sizes so I could choose what I needed. However, upon my parents trying to pick up our order on Sunday, March 11th at 11.30am, the restaurant claimed there was no order. They claimed I went to the wrong location and was "confused". They said there was no gentleman there that took my order. They proceeded to kick my parents out of the location, and I was worried I'd be hosting a party with no food. I politely called up the restaurant and asked to speak to the owner. He immediately knew who I was once I explained the situation, and proceeded to say I was, "full of sh*t, no one took your order" and upon giving a description of the worker who took my order, the owner hastily exclaimed he had no one that worked there meeting my description. I told him I'd be happy to come in and go over the surveillance cameras with him as proof that I went in the previous week. He then went maniacal, yelling "you think you're smart?! I'm smarter than you!" and hung up on me. I am honestly outraged. How someone can be so unprofessional, and blame the customer and proceed to swear at paying customers is alarming. Luckily we found another churasqueira attached to Seara bakery on the corner of Keele and Densley that was more than happy to take our order and did so with a huge smile and kind hearts. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS SHITTY ASS RESTAURANT. On Saturday September 23 I ordered from costa verde via the UberEATS app. We ordered the family combo and an extra side. When our meal arrived we noticed we were missing a side we paid extra for. I called costa verde and told them that they forgot to include part of my order and the man on the phone said "ok just grab it another time". I asked him if he could deliver and he responded in a condescending tone of voice "how am I supposed to do that?". I said I don't know but you messed up our order so call Uber or drive it over yourself. He said "no, you place another order and it will get delivered via uber". I asked to speak to the manager because clearly he wasn't being helpful and then he informs me that he is the manager. This man took NO ACCOUNTABILITY and had the audacity to tell me to order again?! He continues to blame uber and me, THE CUSTOMER. I tell him that I just want a refund and he refused to give me one and told me to call uber. I told him "why do I have to call them when it was YOUR mess up?". The least he could have done was call uber and ask them to refund on my behalf since he messed up! The manager goes on to HANG UP on me while I'm still talking! Wow. What kind of business are they running over there? I called uber who refunded me the whole order and took accountability for that stupid manager's behaviour and apologized for that child's manners.
