I love the chicken They chicken breast is nice and the customer service is also great

Where to go for dinner is always a conundrum. Decent reviews had us coming in to try it out. The restaurant is on the north east corner of Markham & Lawrence. Since we'd never been it took us a while to go through the menu and all the various selections before settling on 4 pieces of grilled chicken and a, delicious looking, poutine. The lady behind the counter was patient and didn't rush us while we pondered our options. There's a small seating section to the side and if you're dining in they even bring your food to you! Sit down restaurant style service from a fast food looking place. I was even more impressed when corning dishes and metal cutlery was used instead of the usual plastic cutlery and styrofoam containers. We ordered mild for the chicken and thank goodness it was actually mild. There are sauces on the tables if you feel that you need more of a kick with your food. The chicken was juicy and tasty and not the least bit dry. The poutine was given a decent amount of gravy and cheese so that even the fries at the bottom of the bowl had some to accompany them.

Watch out Nando's, you got competition! I stumbled across this place in search of my next meal and am I glad that I I did! This seems to be Scarboroughs answer to Nando's Portuguese chicken... Let me tell you, the flavors are out-of-this-world delicious! It's located in a little ghetto strip mall but don't let that fool you... This place is a must-try! For just over $7 I was left feeling extremely satisfied. I ordered two pieces of chicken with Peri Peri fries and was brave enough to try spicy level hot... my mouth was burning but my heart was smiling. If you're looking for a fantastic and cheap place to eat I would highly recommend this place... Maybe try medium spice level unless you're up for a bit of a challenge Overall strongly recommend, I'll definitely be back! 5/5

I got the mild half chicken with peri fries Now usually I'd go for anything more lemon flavoured but I decided to go with mild. What I liked about this heat level is that it had lemon in it as well as spice. Warning: mild is spicy so I wouldn't order spicy, unless you can handle it that is. The fries are my fave, as you can see I've checked in twice, I keep coming back! The chicken is so juicy and tender, cooked to perfection!

Honestly- the walk in special for $19.99 with a large side is so worth it. Their rice tastes a bit like afghan style (think baamiyan kebab). Their chicken grilled well almost like an improved Nando's and their option of sauces are great as well. I think this franchise is doing really well and as long as they keep the prices competitive as it is. This location will be a success as well. Really enjoyed the food here. Highly recommend it.

The staff are friendly and the food is good. I like their Peri rice. The restaurant inside has seating and is bigger than your average Popeyes. I posted the menu for you. You're welcome!! I would recommend this place.

I've been going to this location since they opened and the service/food is usually really good. I've had one or two bad experiences but not enough to put me off from this restaurant. I'm a huge fan of the steak sandwich especially on Fridays where its the special and you can get a combo for around 10$. This place is very reasonable price wise for the portions you get. I am absolutely in love with their peri peri sauce I just can't help eating endless amounts of fries with it it's just so good! Would highly recommend this chain.

Came here today as I was craving for some flame-grilled chicken, and was so glad I did! The place was almost empty as we came around 2 PM on a Saturday. Since this is my first time here, me and my BF decided to get their quarter chicken with one side combo ($6.99). I got my chicken with lemon peri flavor and my BF got his with suicide peri flavor. We didn't wait that long for our food to come, maybe 5-8 minutes and I was surprised at how large the side is!! Overall the serving is pretty good for what you pay. The lemon peri chicken is awesome, there is a hint of spiciness and it is a little bit spicier than the Lemon Herb sauce at Nando's. Chicken is fresh, tasty, and the side is pretty good too! Their suicide sauce is good, very flavorful, if you can withstand a fair amount of heat! We also decided to order 2 more pieces of fried chicken for $3.99. You have a choice of hot or mild. Be prepared to wait at least 15 minutes for this, as they make it fresh.. when the food finally came, we were impressed by the crispiness of the skin. I believe their fried chicken is better than their grilled chicken but both types are definitely a must-try. The fried chicken tastes really, really good. I would come back to try other items in their menu as they have a lot of offerings. Service is friendly and the restaurant is clean. Review 18 of 100

2 pcs grilled chicken combo: with a side and a pop 6.99$

Chicken here is better than Nandos, very flavory and tender! Corn is buttery and refreshing, they add lemon juice in it. I tried the hot level and the waitress warned me it gonna be very spicy, but it turns out to be very good and not very salty. Next time I'll try the suicide spicy. Price is solid, will definitely come back again.

Half-chicken meal with peri-potatoes. Good peri flavour on the chicken and grilled well, but the chicken itself could have been better

I came to Chick Fiesta expecting decent Portuguese chicken and left a tad disappointed. Personally I am a huge fan of Portuguese chicken and found that the quality of Chick Fiesta is not up to par as some other places. While I haven't tried too many Portuguese chicken places here in the GTA, I have had my fair share in Montreal, where I had absolutely phenomenal chicken. I ordered the half-chicken meal which came with one side for $11.99 before taxes. That's a pretty good value compared to Nandos, which you can only get a quarter for the same price. I was expecting a complete half-chicken, not chicken pieces and this is one problem for me. While the flavoring of the chicken was good - good amount of spices and their piri-piri sauce is pretty decent as well, the chicken failed to impress me. It was just average, the chicken could have been more juicy and the lack of crispy skin or even skin in general led to the unsavouryness of it. That being said, the chicken was grilled pretty well. I was also pretty disappointed with their potatoes as well, and their combination with the lemon piri-piri sauce just didn't work at all. It looks like the east end is devoid of any phenomenal chicken places, so my search continues for great Portuguese chicken. Looks like I'm off to Mississauga.

The potatoes were bland, as if they were boiled rather than roasted. Or perhaps this was just a lazy attempt at slapping an order together because it was via Uber Eats? As always, their peri peri sauce is among the best in the city and saved the meal. Either way, lots of better options in the city these days.

There were four of us and ordered the sangria to share between three of us which was a lot but refreshing. Apps were Lucas Freitas (fried calamari) and Chourico a Bombeiro (flaming sausage). Both were delicious. I forgot to mention the bread and Piri Piri Sauce which came in the form of a large bottle. These were complimentary and it's nice to see a restaurant continue this tradition. There used to be a very crusty artisan bread that was served but over the years that has disappeared and it's a white bread now. Three of us had chicken/chicken breast and one had veal. Even the small portion was very generous. The salad was underwhelming but a pretty presentation. The server got a couple of orders wrong and seemed very distracted. The piece de resistance was the "Portuguese Tarts" which made a wonderful finale to a good Al fresco dining experience.

Return visits while in Toronto (2 of 3)…read more I came back to Perla and its appeal, at least to me, is very much still there. You are greeted upon walking in to this family run Portuguese restaurant. This time, I tried a bitoque, a steak with an egg on top. It would be on the list of 10 typical entrees you'd find in a Portuguese restaurant. It was preceded by a salad, for which I selected the Caesar salad option. I followed it up with a dessert which was a goblet with a frothy type of gelatin, pudding, or mousse. The flavor was either passion fruit or guava. I forgot what it was immediately upon leaving because I devoured it so quickly! The frothiness made it lighter, such that it wouldn't weigh you down. By now, you should be able to tell this was a very good meal. A few things round out the experience. The bread was accompanied by a pate' or dip of sorts. It was excellent. I didn't know what it was, therefore I asked. It had tuna as well as a good number of other ingredients. Together, it did not taste very fishy or potent in any way, except incredibly flavorful. Their cuisine is representative of all of Portugal, although Perla's roots are in Northern Portugal. The painted ceramic rooster for good luck one often sees hails from Barcelos, just slightly north of the Porto area. In fact, the fueling and rest areas on the toll road through Barcelos have these modern metallic renditions of the rooster that are minimalistic silhouettes you look right through. I might add a few other things that made me glad I returned to Perla. For one, Lusophones are well represented among the customers. But, more importantly, they fill an important niche for me since so many Portuguese locales miss this mark. They are essentially a reliable mid-range restaurant with a broad enough menu. Here, you can avoid the end points that I don't much care for or seek - the piri piri (or peri peri) chicken places where you accompany your order with a pastel de nata that the "hey, wow man" types (at least on the Plateau in Montreal) tend to frequent and the high-end restaurants where Portuguese leans haute cuisine, a lot is about presentation, and the portions are small. (In Montreal, one such place should immediately come to mind.) I was happy that I stopped by, using the TTC card with which you can avoid the crazy Toronto traffic and parking hassles. The College Street streetcar practically stops in front of Perla's door. It all adds up. The team running this restaurant puts their hearts into their work. I am going to go with 5 stars, with each one representing a letter in the word P-E-R-L-A.

We decided to go with their tasting menu where you gave them a price range you wanted to stick to - I believe it was $85-$200, and you can mention some dishes you definitely want to try and they curate the rest for you which I thought was so unique! I loved the idea of that. The dishes we really wanted were the octopus, bone marrow and scallops. The only standout dishes to me were the scallops, and a salad I cannot remember the name of but was so shocked at how good just a simple salad could be. Other than that, the other dishes were still good, but nothing extraordinary to be honest. The octopus was a bit too charred which was disappointing as it was what I was looking forward to the most. The tasting menu we got also had mainly vegetable dishes (other than the ones I just mentioned), so was hoping to get a few more meat dishes. This is definitely a great spot for vegetarians as it had a lot of veggie dishes. I would still come back to maybe try some of their other more meat focused dishes. But when we one of us went to grab the water decanter to refill water three times even while our server watched us and kept walking - that was a no, no. The food was okay and perhaps suffered from staffing issues but when you're paying 100 per plate I would like a better dining experience. The best thing we had was dessert but we waited almost an hour for this. One almost fell asleep waiting. The atmosphere clearly suffered from the tables around us. We could hear how upset people were and they asked for their food to go. I could hear the table next door in Portuguese want the bill. They wanted their dessert and it just wasn't coming. We were in the same boat. Had at least the customer service been positive - our table would feel better. We asked for help with our table that kept shaking but that didn't happen. Not fun to eat while table is shaking. We watched while everyone had received bread so we asked. She clearly wasn't pleased we requested this. Her facial expression read upset while her eyes rolled up. I was a honestly regretting asking. Then when she brought it to our table, she firmly planted that plate on our table and walked away.
