La Parrilla is a small takeout restaurant that's big on flavours! The food is meticulously prepared to order fresh from the grill. What is the meaning of 'parrilla' you might ask? It's a traditional form of Argentinian barbecue on the open fire. I've tried Brazilian rodizio and Venezuelan arepas but that was near the extent of my Latin American foray so it was exciting to taste the cuisine at this hidden gem. The must-get menu item is their charcoal grilled chicken. It's sort of akin to Portuguese chicken but in comparison the meat here is more juicy and better seasoned. The half chicken is fall-off-the-bone tender with slightly smoky flavours, then even tossed in chimichurri sauce. Perhaps greasy yet each meaty bite is satisfying! Honourable mention also goes to their empanadas. A pretty sight: golden baked crust folds over the fresh beef filling, that might be even better by the dozen. And at their price point, I can see why guests generally agree La Parrilla is a 5-star visit. I ordered ahead and the food was ready for pickup upon arrival to avoid any wait. Owner Serge was friendly about offering an extra sauce on the side along with chimichurri tossed on the chicken. Definitely get that sauce, as it adds dimensions to the asado / grilled meat. We went to this restauran, La Parilla to have a barbecue. Unfortunately, the food was all dry, the empanadas were not well cooked and the rest was not much better. The worst part was the terrible service from the waiters; especially from this older man who was rude and disrespectful to the customers. To make it even worse, their prices are outrageous! A MINI empanada is $3.50 each and a can of coke is also $3.50 each and you can check on their website the ridiculous meat dish prices! Don't bother trying this restaurant, it will definitely not be worth your money!!! read more

** BEWARE OF ORDERING FROM THIS PLACE ** This place is unbelievable. The food is good but the attitude of the owner makes it feel like he's doing you a favour for even being open. Orders are NEVER ready on time. Always add 30 minutes to their quoted time and be ready to deal with attitude when you inevitably ask how long it'll be until your food is ready. On their latest mishap, they took an UberEats order (which I was charged for) but when I called to follow up on when it's be ready I was told they weren't doing app orders...then why is your store online in the app? Have you ever been to a wedding where a guest makes an ill-advised move of wearing an all white suit to the wedding and upstages the groom? I have... and the meal at La Parrilla reminds me of the aforementioned scenario. So here's the lowdown... I arrived at the establishment at around 11:50 in the morning. It struck me as a bit odd that the chicken was not quite ready when the store opens at 11am and I had to wait at least ten minutes for my quarter chicken dinner order. As I was waiting for my food I stared into their open kitchen and noticed that they cook their chicken not as a whole chicken rotisserie but instead in flattened chicken style. That should have allowed them to shorten their cooking time as well. So back to my earlier reference. When I ordered my meal they asked me whether I wanted sauce on it. I instinctively said yes not thinking twice about it. Bad call on my end on two fronts. For one the sauce was an extra $0.75. It's not like it's a lot of money but I wish the gentleman taking my order would of informed me of that. Two, the sauce was too sour and salty and it just overwhelmed anything that was smothered by it... the rice... and the main act, the chicken. I think I would of enjoyed the food much more had there been no sauce. The sauce upstaged everything. They also put too much sauce where it made the rice too soggy. The highlight of the meal were the little potatoes with a crunchy yet chewy exterior and flaky soft interior. And by the way the sauce for the most part did not manage to make its way to the potatoes. La Parrilla is mostly a take out place with a few tables for dining in. If you do choose to frequent their restaurant I would recommend that you would stick to takeout since the restaurant is really cold during the winter - I had to keep my winter jacket on during the meal. I came for the chicken. I stayed for the Ribs and Empanadas! Nestled in a little plaza beside a well established Woodbridge residential neighbourhood is this little Argentinian gem of a BBQ house, serving up some wicked tasty BBQ Chicken, moist and full of flavour, atop rice and little potatoes. Those potatoes are so excellent! It's hard to believe they're even potatoes at all. The rice was okay on its own, but paired with the cold salad, coleslaw, olives, and that house sauce it turned out to be an amazing bed of rice. The portions are spectacularly large! The half-chicken dinner was super generous and filled me like a king. Of course I had to also try the lovingly hand-made beef empanadas, and oh my my, they were so soft and savoury. That was a Friday. I came back Sunday, to buy a dinner for my whole family, this time with a full rack of Smokey BBQ Ribs. Hands down my favourite ribs in the city. I know the other ribbers in Vaughan, been going to them for years, and believe me now when I say La Parrilla's rib game is up there! Big Tip: Call ahead and order early! They take some time to prepare orders. Bought grilles chicken with potatoes and rice. also got the bean salad and veggies (peppers). I had a family dinner so i ordered from here. Pricing is fair... roughly bout the same any otherplace. Chicken was juicy the chimichuuri sauce was done well. the rice was nice and simple. that yellow rice. the potatoes were very soft the skin was good too. I thought the potstoes would be dry and boring but once i but into them it was soo soft. I would like a bit of seasoning on the outside.. but it was good none the less. The beans were delcious great dressing. The pepers were yummy as well. Over all I have no complaints abouy the food. I paid bout $98. for 3 chickens, small rice plus one medium rice. one veggie sdish and mediun bean dish. This is by far one of the best chickens on the charcoal that I've ever had Serge and Fabian do a fantastic job on the grill cooked right in front of you I never disappoint they take care of their loyal customers not many restaurants do that their empanadas are phenomenal but what's more amazing is there welcoming attitude. Very tasty charcoal grilled Argentinian chicken with chimichurri sauce. There really is no competing with charcoal grilled chicken. This is a fantastic alternative to those fed up with that Portuguese place on Mac and their horrendous service. I do recommend calling ahead here and arriving at least an hour before closing as the flame is lower leading up to close resulting in longer cooking times. Also tried the empanada which was pretty tasty, very meat pie-ish but it was my first try of a Argentinian empanada so nothing to compare it too. The food is a solid 4.5/5 however having to wait 20 minutes despite calling ahead on my first order and than being told I had to wait five minutes and then told sorry we have no bills take a handful of change the second visit is kind of peculiar for a place that is not nearly as busy as it will become when people find out how good the food is. Service sadly gets a 2.5/5 tanking a potential 5 star review which is doubly sad because the older gentleman that works/owns there was a pleasure and very welcoming. All in all I am worried the service is going to get even worse but I will continue to eat their chicken until it does and I suggest anyone reading this does as well lol, just call ahead first. read more

I ordered the Skirt steak dinner (Entrana) with rice and potatos and totally enjoyed it! Savoured every last bite of that steak! I have seen their "We Are Open" sign a while back in passing and have been wanting to try them out and I was not dissapointed. The proportions they gave were just right for a hungry man and the chimi sauce they put on the steak to season it while cooking is fantastic. Make sure to ask for extra as a dipping sauce! Those potatoes are so good, it was so hard to stop eating. Every single one of them was crispy and exploded with a bite. But the chicken was a bit dry. I had to wait about 15-20 minutes at the place for it to be ready too. A dry chicken is a big turn off. It tasted great but nobody wanted to have the white meat because it was tough to chew. I was very excited to try this place and it has very good reviews no matter where you look it up. The pictures of the food here on Yelp look amazing and made me want to try La Parrilla. the first thing that caught my eye was that amazing looking chicken sandwich that was posted on Yelp. Yet again I ordered the chicken sandwich from Skip the Dishes. I was so excited to sink my teeth into that sandwich Upon the drivers arrival even he said "you ordered fro a GREAT place you will love it". Upon opening my sandwich I noticed this was NOT going to be the case. The sandwich was no where near what the picture was posted on Yelp. As you can see from my picture it was just some plain bland chicken picked off the bone and thrown onto the bun. Very poorly done looks like it was literally thrown on the bun. As for the taste it wasn't exactly bad but it wasn't exactly enjoyable. It was plain dry chicken on a bun. Not sure if I would return to La Parrilla unless I was guaranteed the sandwich in the picture from another Yelp member.
