This is my local spot! The people are lovely who work there and their baked goods are off the chain!! Great scones and muffins with wonderful flavours! Their coffee is very decent and if you like sugar in your coffee they do some really fun special coffees like the moon landing and red Rocket Coffee (one has caramel and one has chocolate in it with either the dark or blonde roast. I can never remember which is which but it's a fun treat) There is another option there they make your espresso beverage with some sugar in with the espresso which caramelize the sugar. Red Rocket Coffee is kind of out of the way, in the middle of nowhere... no where in the sense that there is no other business around only an old age home... some apartments.. oh yes St James Town... There are hardly any seatings in the Cafe... 3 small round tables... a little open area... where a couple of wheelchairs can park. They are making this place more like a takeout place VS people will be hanging around like a community meeting place. I would feel uncomfortable to park myself with my laptop for a long time to make it my Yelp office even though they have Wifi Access! The 2 guys are so nice... polite, cheerful and with big smile!! A lot of positive energy! Red Rocket with Mayan Chocolate... hmmm... my 3 faves in life... strong coffee/Chocolate/Spicy!! Just love that straight up.. definitely a grown up drink.. :) bitter, spicy and chocolaty at the same time (+0.5 star) Indie Passport Drink! Herbal Tea ($2.20 for any size) there are 6 different type to choose from.. the loose leaf samples are all at the counter in little jars for you to smell before you decide what you want... I do think that is a really nice touch! The staff here are fantastic and super friendly, making getting a morning coffee a great experience. I really like and recommend the medium roast blend coffee and if you are feeling in the mood for something to eat grab one of their scones. They won't disappoint. Only open until mid-day so look elsewhere for a evening pick me up but make it your AM go to. read more

Which is also what it reminded me of. Starbucks. That was my initial thought when I drank my mocha. ''Woah, this tastes familiar....hm...holy crap.. it tastes like a Starbucks mocha!'' The two guys workin' there were really nice. I asked like 4 questions and he didn't seem to mind. Oh yeah, I have to warn you, it is incredibly small in there. There are only 3 tables with two chairs each. Yes, there is outside seating but the "tables" are actually stools, so if you have a laptop or you're thinking about studying then this place is a no no. But overall, it was okay. I swear that guy worked at Starbucks before 'cause as I got to the last few sips of my drink, it had that thick residue where it's just overpowering (y'know what i mean?)... JUST LIKE STARBUCKS! The only thing different was their whipped cream. Compared to Starbucks whipped cream, this had nothing on them. Did this review just turn into a Starbucks mocha review instead? This place is a little gem tucked away in a mainly residential area of Toronto. The cafe is small and modern, outside there is seating and parking for bikes and it offers free wifi. The staff are very friendly,engaging and offer superb service. We ordered two medium roast drip coffees, and one peanut butter and one Nutella brownie. While ordering we were talking to the lady serving us about our vacation in Toronto and she gave us the coffees for free as a welcome to Toronto ! As we sat watching people come and go the staff seemed to know most of the customers very well and you could see people genuinely love this place. read more

I would have to rate this so low because the quality as well as the service as is pretty unimpressive. The location is very convenient with a few seats to people watch outside. The staff isn't really interested in being there or serving you for that matter. They seem annoyed when you place your order so we won't be back here. The espresso drinks are extremely underwhelming and taste more like coffee with milk. I'd compare this to a chain coffee shop but staff is at least friendly and efficient there. read more

6 months ago, this would've been a 4-star rating. I'm totally bummed that the last few times i've been, the standard of my latte has been very up-and-down and often just sub-par. My first few visits to this Red Rocket were stellar, i'm not sure what's happened! Other than the coffee, the cafe itself is super neat. I love the decor, the big windows, and the general atmosphere. They have a little merch for sale, and beans also. Because that area is so void of any real coffee shops, RR is still a decent stop-off, but i'm still wary of what kind of drink i'll get every time I go in, now! read more

So, I randomly found this place as I was waiting from my husband to get off work in one of the new developments in the area. Anyway I asked for anything caramel themed coffee drinks because I usually get a Caramel Macchiato at other establishments. Anyway, the barista said they have a "hot blonde" option and asked if i wanted it hot or cold. I opted the hot. It was good. Strong and sweet all together. Anyway the gem of this place, the barista! He was fantastic! I was hot because of the toronto humidity so felt totally gross, but the happiness of the barista made everything seem better. He was dancing to the 70's music that was playing in the place. Basically his whole demeanor made the price of the coffee and piece of cake (11$) totally worth it!! 15:36... Wed afternoon, the place is empty bar me and the two gents that work here. The guy manning the machine is particularly friendly. I think he's the manager. I don't bother to ask. This is a great corner location. Sunlight radiates through the tall windows facing Wellesley street and Homewood Avenue. Outside cars and pedestrians pass on by. I've been handed my medium-sized London Fog paid for by coughing up my Indie Coffee Passport. There's free wifi here, not provided by the establishment but by some other kind soul who's opened up theirs to the general coffee drinking public. There are three tables inside, so there's not much seating. However there is seating outside on the sidewalk, great for warm days like today. I have a power outlet for my laptop and the music is loud enough to background but not be annoying. Everything looks so clean and new. So at this time it's perfect for me to concentrate on work, or simply relax. There's lots of sweet treats too if that's your fancy. I'd come back. read more

Red Rocket is a generally solid, but not exceptional local coffee joint in the Verve condo building on the border of the Village and St. James Town. The COFFEE itself is pretty good. it's a step up from Starbucks. If you're like me, I never add cream or sugar at home, and always add them to Starbucks coffee. Red Rocket coffee is good enough to remain unadulterated. I'm not a fancy beverage person, so I haven't tried the mochas or the like. The FOOD is pretty minimal...a couple cookies or pastry...but it's baked in-house and looks tasty. The STAFF here are a bit variable...fairly friendly with a slightly cold hipster edge. The SEATING is quite limited. Maybe at best 4 different places to sit. I wouldn't recommend coming here planning to definitely get a place to sit to work. Every time I've been in, they've been fully occupied. Plan on take-out. read more

After having been to the other location down in Leslieville this is very different to it in terms of style while the menu remains the same. It's a very small spot and not a place I would ever plan to come to spend time at, so for a "coffee to go place" this is a great place, and with not a lot of good competition close by, I assume it gives the residents of the area something to cherish on a regular basis. The barista did not seem too interested in my being there (I mean I had an indie coffee passport, should people not go crazy over that?! :-p) I can't recall exactly which drink I had (I know it was not a latte/cappuccino or a regular brew) but I recall it being strong (just like the drink I had at the other location), I'm no fan of super strong coffee drinks so I was not overjoyed but it's always fun to live life on the edge sometimes. This was also my first go at a whoopie pie (oatmeal carrot cookie type) and I came to realise I hate whoopie pies! That was just way to sweet for life! But some of the other snacks they had did look great. I'm hardly around this area, so my chances of returning here are very slim but they do seem to have the right stuff when it comes to drink choices. read more

I'm not a coffee-drinker, but my SO is. The 4 star rating is vased on service/the vibe I get each time I'm in/near the place. Besides, they are dog-friendly there. ~~~~~~~~~ We used to live near this location, and it was the perfect place to go for coffee on weekend mornings. They are so dog-friendly that they will give a homemade dog friendly (wheat-free, peanut-buttery, human-grade) biscuit to your loved little one. In the summertime, they will of course provide a water bowl for Sparky. Service was always pretty good, and personable. I love how the place looks, so clean, trendy, modern. I'd go again if we were in the 'hood, and in the mood to have coffee. It was so awesome when this place decided to move in. The area was a bit blah before that. read more

Absolutely horrible Worst chai tea latte I have ever had Hospital vending machine coffee drinks are of a higher caliber. This place is located right next to where we Are staying so we figured perfect we will go down in the morning. 1st we go in and twit behind the counter rudely states that my support dog i am carrying cannot be in there (fine I have no real issue with that) then as I am telling my wife what I want so I can leave her rude coworker decides to rudely restate it like I didn't here it the first time. Let me start by saying that I just cannot live without this place. With their catchy coffee drinks, to-die-for peanut butter cookies and hipster staff they have made my neighbourhood just a little bit better. This place is the first sign for me that my area is truly gentrifying, and I like it. It gives me hope that organic grocery stores and happening restaurants will begin to pop up on every street corner. Red Rocket is tucked in right off Wellsley, it is a bit small as coffee spots go, but I usually have no problem finding a spot to squat for the many hours that I'm there. They have solid wi-fi and are never chasing me out the door for overstaying my welcome. Their baked goods are delicious and most are made in-house. Also they have an extensive collection of teas and coffees, and will make pretty much anything you ask for. Short of lacking almond milk, they cover all my "coffee shop basics". Bottom line...whether it be soy lattes or clever conversations this coffee rocket satisfies and is quickly becoming my newest Yelp obsession. read more

Red Rocket, how fortunate I feel to live close to you! Though it's fairly far out on Wellesley, the bright, friendly Red Rocket is a great little place to go for coffee - though perhaps moreso if you're inclined to order your cup to go. It is quite small, and there's very little in the way of seating (and what places there are feel pretty spartan,) but you can hang out outside if it's a nice day and enjoy one of their many drinks. I'm partial to the Miami Vice, an americano pulled Cuban-style with raw sugar, and the namesake Red Rocket, a drink that blends the flavours of earthy, robust coffee and spicy-sweet Mayan chocolate. They are also affiliated with the Indie Coffee Passport plan - though I don't have one, it seems like a cool initiative. The decor is done in a funky retro-futurist/pop art style, the people are cheerful and the service is quick - and the coffee (from Reunion Island Coffee Co.) tastes great. There are also quite a few tasty baked goods available, from banana loaf to scones and sweets to my personal favourite, savoury breakfast muffins with a whole hard-boiled egg hidden inside! Red Rocket would earn five stars in a heartbeat if there were better options to sit down and get comfortable. Alas! Delicious drinks and baked stuff make for plenty to like about this place. read more

I enjoy feeling comfortable and welcome and I just don't I have gone there every sat/sun for the last 4 months never had any form of recognition from anybody then today I took my husband for the 1st time and they did nothing but talk to him. I'm so happy this location opened in my neighborhood! I've only been there a couple of times, but I love it so far. There is a really friendly atmosphere in this tiny cafe with only a couple of tables. The coffee is good, though nothing exceptional, but definitely one of the best places in the area. Living the in the middle ground between Yorkville and St James town leaves one with few options for coffee on a Saturday morning. Thankfully there's Red Rocket! Consistently good brewed coffee - hot or iced, and espresso drinks. Can't yet speak to their food offerings but they're always tempting. The staff is always cheery and personable and the service is in line with any other small coffee shop. Not as mechanical and measured as a bigger chain but never slow. My only complaint is that they don't open until 7AM. Nothing would be better before heading out for an early morning flight than a nice coffee for the ride. read more

Interesting that I should come to a cafe called Red Rocket after coming from a cafe called Jet Fuel. Red Rocket is kinda tucked away in low traffic area surrounded by residential and office buildings. Kinda off the beaten path if you will. This cafe is darn cute. Small in capacity, yet has a really tall ceiling for headroom. It has a kinda pop-toon kinda feel. Gotta love the red rocket trash bin. But anyways, about the coffee...Coffee here is both espresso based and regular brew. Beans are exclusively Reunion Island with a custom blend thrown in just for Red Rocket. I had the aptly named "Bullet" espresso. This has a nice uncomplicated "sweet" taste of dark berries that sits long on the palette with a earthy dark chocolaty finish. Very smooth, not overly sour and very low acidity. Nice. Apart from the espresso there custom RR blend is a tasty regular cup of joe that will never be considered bland. The place is bright, simple and with limited seating. It makes for a nice stop over. The staff are friendly and pull a decent shot. They also have snacks, all home baked, as well they retail Reunion Island coffee. Worth the visit, I recommend. read more

This place is pretty good, I tried their roast beef and onion sandwich and a cappuccino. The best thing about it is the location, nestled pretty much at the border of the village and St. Jamestown, it brightens up a corner of Wellesley that needs a little something. The cappuccino was okay a little too milky for my taste but not bad. The sandwich was pretty good the meat and onions were tasty and it came on a whole wheat bun. The prices are okay, my sandwich and coffee came to around 12 bucks. read more

I love Red Rocket, and I love their rocket garbage cans. The staff is fantastic, and the treats they serve are always wonderful. I wish they had more seats in and out, but maybe that'll improve as summer comes on. Also, a place to tie my dog while I go in and get my java would be really great. =) read more

This place is my go to coffee shop in my hood. The Red Rocket coffee is my favourite which I believe has a shot of expresso, drip coffee and a shot of mocha - It will keep you wired for a few hours. I love the small neighbourhood feel of this place with the baristas knowing their regular customers. Great service! They also have great little deserts. read more

Nothing negative to say, really. Wish there was more seating but other than that, it's pretty much everything I want in a coffee shop. They make a mean London Fog and the pastries are miles above most pastry case fare. (That banana bread. I mean, goddamn.) Staff is hip without being pretentious. Shop is always clean. I've only had the dark roast coffee, and it is great. The location is small, only a few tables. Hipster vibe, not really my thing, but some of the little signs and sayings about evil clowns are cute and will put a smile on your face. Not somewhere I'd feel comfortable to linger about, but the coffee is great and so is the staff. A nice addition to the neighbourhood. read more
