Located in the Toronto Distillery District, Arvo Coffee is a cute, eclectic cafe. I ordered The Brekkie, $14. It was made with peameal bacon, two range, free eggs, cheddar cheese, onions, and pickles. The pickles added another dimension to the flavor of the sandwich, I had never had them on an egg sandwich, I liked it. The roll was incredibly soft. The menu is mostly different varieties of toast. Located in the bustling distillery District, arvo coffee is hidden away amongst the madness. Super artsy Vibe really fits in with the whole area and I absolutely loved the rustic interior of the cafe. I was hoping to try their date latte however when the barista informed me that there isn't any coffee in there I had to go for my usual flat white having needed the caffeine on that day. Everything looks really tasty and I hope to go again to try one of the gigantic cookies that were on display. Had a very rare afternoon of alone/quiet time so with this nice weather, decided to walk to the distillery district to grab a coffee. The weather finally cooled down so it actually bearable to be outdoors. Decided to grab a coffee at Arvo because it was more quiet than the other coffee shops in the distillery district. Tried their special summer drink, honey lemon cold brew. Large size was around $8 which I found pricey but I reminded myself that I'm in a VERY touristy part of Toronto.... I wonder if Arvos other locations the prices are the same. Coffee was great, very smooth, no noticeable acidity at all. read more

We stopped in a for coffee while waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant. I had an iced vanilla latte, which was made with vanilla syrup that had real specs of vanilla. I'm not sure if it was house-made syrup, but it was definitely better than the standard syrups I'm used to. I truly enjoyed the latte. I also got a chocolate chip cookie topped with flakey sea salt to save for later in the day. It was beautiful and delicious. Other baked goods looked equally delicious but we needed to save room for brunch. The music was great and the cafe seemed like a great place to catch up with a friend, work or simply enjoy a bite and a beverage. The Eddys Trout Toast I got was delicious, perfectly balanced acidity with pickled onions, salt from the salmon, the sauce delicious. Super satisfied. As an arab as well, the chai is one of the best I've had. Got dirty chai with pump of vanilla. Spiced wonderfully and the foam is delicious. It's a nice place to stop by. They've got a small collection of books focused on the history and culture of various drinks, along with Arvo-brand merchandise that you can purchase. Decent number of seats around the small shop, with more tables out in the hall. I am not cultured when it comes to coffee or tea so not much to comment there, but the staff are nice and even took the time to decorate my hot chocolate order. read more

Arvo Coffee is such a nice quiet coffee shop inside the Distillery District. Love the spacious interior and the exposed brick wall. There are plenty of seating and and over flow area in the front entrance of the building too. Cortado presented in one of those ceramic cup perfect as a hand warmer on this old winter days! If you need a glass of water to go with your coffee, make sure you get one of the trays that designed to fit your glass and coffee mug at the counter! I love how they so detailed oriented! read more

The ambience is at another level with succulent plants everywhere making the store look great and also bringing some vibrancy! This place is always busy and also have a very good customer service.. they would suggest what to eat/drink if you are in a dilemma. Also the art of lattes are top notch! Arvo coffee caught my eye on Yelp when I was walking through the Distillery District with my friends. We stepped in to try some of the coffee and ended up also ordering breakfast on the Sunday morning. There were a good amount people sitting inside, there was a main area and extra seating in a different space. One of the things I loved about Arvo was their custom ceramics. All of the cups, plates, etc. are custom and have their cool logo on it. Also, all of the bags of beans are well-designed and they have flavor profile cards for their coffees. Awesome concept and I have only been given one of those cards at a Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Seattle, so it's a pretty neat thing to have. I ordered an avocado toast and a pour over coffee while my friends ordered the ricotta toast, trout toast, a regular latte, and a hot date latte. Everything was in the cute custom ceramic cups and plates, so it made it a bit better in my opinion. Coffee: Pour over (Campamiento alto O2 Guatemala) - I really enjoyed my pour over coffee; it was very well-made and was sweet and fruity, more so than what I usually get in a Guatemalan coffee Hot date latte - good for someone who doesn't like or can't drink a lot of caffeine! Yummy spices like chai and cinammon, very comforting. Toasts: All of the toasts we tried were a bit different, but all served on a thick slice of hearty bread (which was very hard to cut and chew, but it was tasty and enjoyable). The ricotta toast is good for someone who likes sweetness and the avocado and trout toasts are solid savory choices. Overall, great coffee, cool designs, yummy food, and awesome ceramics. Definitely would recommend this place for a good cup of coffee and chill time. read more

This is a nice addition to the distillery as the coffee scene needed a bit more competition and improvement IMO. The space is setup quite nicely with plenty of seating. I will update the review when I try the cappuccino on the next visit. I tried the cortado on this trip which was decent. While the idea of stoneware cups is good for cold days the one I was served was chipped which is not inviting. The espresso is a bit on the mellow side and the latte art was decent as well. Decent drink for what you pay. Now for some improvements folks you need to enforce the leash law (not sure the no pets law applies to other seating space so letting it go on this visit) read more

Enjoyed a lovely and smooth Americano here while waiting for my fiance to join me at the Toronto Christmas market. The staff were polite and friendly plus the decor inside was very quaint. There are a few chairs plus tables both inside the coffee shop and also just outside of their doors as well. Arvo offers a curated selection of both sweet and savoury bites. I love the random armchair stuck down the little hallway inside the space (you will know what I mean when you visit). I tucked myself in there and enjoyed my java in very cozy style. Would definitely come back again for a cup of joe when in the area. read more

Stopped by Arvo Coffee on a Sunday at around 12:30pm as I saw that they were serving toasts. The place was busy but not packed. I opted for the avocado toast and an iced Americano. The coffee was fairly quick but the toast took a bit longer. Staff were nice enough to bring me my food. Once the food arrived, the avocado toast looked very appealing to eat. However, the crust of the bread was hard to cut through and the avocado was more of a spread. Maybe I prefer my avocado slightly less mashed but the flavour was standard. I've had better elsewhere. The coffee, on the other hand, was great as usual. Service was friendly and attentive, no issues there. Next time I will only stick with the coffee if I drop by Arvo. read more

Rainy day. I thought with the weather I'd be able to try a somewhat empty Avro cafe. Not the case at all. This place rammed during a rainy Sunday afternoon. Turnover was high enough for me to get a seat. There's about 10 tables and seating for around 30 in total. There are electrical power outlets everywhere and internet tested at 178/8. A good place to work at the appropriate time of the day. Even though the cafe serves the tourist Distillery crowd it feels like a local cafe. I tried the bourbon butter tart and the date ball. Both were quite nice. The date ball was crispy which was unexpected and good. There is a focus on aesthetics; my espresso was served on a special tray with sparkling water. 4.5 star ... very good coffee and a wonderful atmosphere. Distillery district has so many options for a cup of coffee and I was tempted to head back to Balzac's but decided to try Arvo instead. Set aside off in the outer parts of Distillery is this small but great coffee shop. I love how this place not only pulls great espresso shots but also have very good non-caffeinated options and teas. The interior has a lot of seating and it has a great industrial vintage vibe with the original brick wall exposed. The barista is friendly and helpful as we trying to figure out what to get. I wanted something sweet and spiced... I was going to go for my typical chai latte but he recommended the hot date latte instead. I had to laugh at the name but the idea of pureed dates, ginger, cinnamon, and hot milk sounded good. And wow, did it ever. Loved it... not overly sweet but a mellow dark caramel flavour with a hit of spiciness from the ginger and cinnamon. You can sit outside, inside in the hallway where it has several old firefighting equipment or inside the actual cafe. Overall, definitely a calmer and cooler vibe compared to Balzacs which had soooo many people just lined up and its just louder. If I come back to distillery, I'm coming back to try other options! read more

The space is nice and the barista was friendly. I tried the matcha latte and a ginger molasses cookie. The matcha latte was beautifully presented and I appreciated that it comes unsweetened so you can sweeten it yourself, however, it lacked matcha flavour and tasted more like warm milk. The ginger molasses cookie looked just like the one from Balzac's so I was hoping it would be the same but maybe not, because I prefer the other one, but this one was not bad. If I ever return, I'll definitely try their coffee instead. read more

Passed by this quiet little cafe at the distillery a few times, finally had a chance to try it a few months back(catching up on my reviews lol) There were only a few tables but I don't think I've ever seen the place packed. For some reason they also sells flowers/potted plants. We came close to the closing time and found that the waitress must be tired. When asked question re:menu item it was a "whatever" kind of answers we got. Regardless, I do find the coffee and tea here are done pretty well. I do wish there's more selection of pastry here though. read more

This place is great. A little on the pricier side but their pastries and coffee are both super yummy. Recently they also got a toast bar - I got the avocado smash. Super delicious!! My only complain was the bread was a little bit tough to bite thru but it was still sooo delicious!! The guys there are really nice! Plus the succulents for sale is a cherry on icing! *UPDATE* Unfortunately, they got rid of their almond croissants. But they do still have a few other baked goods for you to pick from. These guys are constantly expanding and growing. They have also recently added a cute patio with flowers outside for you to enjoy the coffee and get some vitamin D outside, enjoying the lovely distillery district views or be secluded in the cozy patio. read more

Located comfortably in the distillery district, this place has a good handle on the space - lots of nooks and crannies to enjoy some yummy caffeine with a croissant, and a lovely flower space shared with DeLight Floral Designs for you to create a custom floral arrangement (or buy some pre-potted succulents, they're adorable! and low maintenance! yay!). The beautiful exposed brick and large heavy tables help bring out the mellow atmosphere, and while there's still a few rays of summer they've got a nice patio set up as well. The owners know their coffee, and you can tell that their customers do too. They've got a loyal following of Phil and Seb drinkers, as well as Transcend coffee enthusiasts as well. And the best part is, there's a little day care in the same building, so they offer babychinos (a little shooter of steamed milk with cocoa powder on top) so the little ones can enjoy something too! And they have high chairs! C'mon, that in itself is awesome for a coffee shop. Prices are pretty reasonable, and they have a great tea selection as well for those not big on coffee.
