This is the best cappuccino I have ever had. The espresso flavor comes through and is not overpowered by the milk.

Beautiful coffee shop. Well decorated, fitting music and welcoming atmosphere in regards to the decor and space. Although there was no welcoming aspect from the staff, A lot of times that is no issue as the coffee can most certainly do the talking. But the coffee was just like any other, by no means bad, but by the same token nothing is wow about it either. A deeper appreciation for the drink comes from a personal touch, although It just felt like I was coming in to give an order and leave. Really great coffee shop. Amazing coffee. Delicious avocado toast, smoked trout toast, and other hipster toast options. A great spot for a small brunch or quick breakfast. The ceramics used to serve coffee are beautiful. You can also buy them in-store. Very instagrammable food and drink. They have coffee cupping events sometimes which are really fun and educational. It's a very serious affair. They're very excited about coffee. They seem to source from a variety of places which keeps it exciting. I love that kinda passion. The staff here are kinda serious-looking but friendly. I try to go here whenever I'm in the area since the coffee is amazing. The atmosphere is nice and calm too, surprisingly because it's in the middle of the distillery district. Much more chill than Balzac and Soma. Definitely worth a visit. read more

I was waiting for my Dermatology appointment. During my waiting time, I found Arvo Coffee. Their prices are expensive, but their drink and pastries are tasty and high qualities. The place was cozy and I felt relaxed. A lady was studying and another lady was talking to her friends on her cellphone, but they were not bothered by each other. I ordered a hot date latte, a divine blend of pureed dates made in-house, steamed milk, ginger, and cinnamon. Literally the best non caffeinated latte I've ever had! The atmosphere is industrial but cozy, with an interesting little nook where a handsome armchair sits. That and the barista was very helpful and super friendly. read more

Went to the Distillery District on the weekend to check out the Toronto Light Festival. Popped into Arvo Coffee for a quick hot chocolate before I made my made. If you've never been to this cafe, you must stop by! It has plenty of old-school charm including exposed brick, a 1920s-era marble countertop refurbished from the King Edward Hotel (according to owner Justin, who used to work at Lit Espresso Bar), and a hidden nook perfect for Sunday reading. The shop operates as a multi-roaster cafe and typically has beans from Transcend to Australia's own 7 Seed Coffee. While I didn't order a coffee on this trip, I can say that the sticky chai lattes are probably some of my favorite in the city. The staff are super personable and always willing to walk you through the menu or help you understand what's brewing that day. read more

Great random find in the distillery district. I might be superficial but the look and feel of a coffee shop plays a big role in my opinion. Arvo is a rustic as it gets. Brick walls, exposed plumbing, wood and industrial pipe makes this an intriguing place to spend time and sip on your preferred beverage. I ordered a flat white and it did not disappoint. Although a super busy night with two on staff I managed to get a design on mine, temperature and flavor profile was one of the better ones I've had. Great place to chill and admire! Coffee shops are always a great place to get a sense of the city locals or pretend to be one. read more

Arvo is such a great little spot in the Distillery! Amazing coffee, succulents for sale, and a nice little selection of toasts. My go-to is an iced americano w/ avocado toast. The food takes awhile to prepare, but you can see the care they put into preparation - the final product is beautiful and delicious. I've also tried the honey butter toast, and it's amazing. Last weekend, they were building an outdoor seating area - so check it out while the weather is still great! read more

It's hard to rate a coffee shop when you are in there for 10 minutes but I have a feel for Arvo. Arvo is a small coffee shop in the Distillery District that sells a wide spread of coffee and pastries. On a busy day the seating would be limited with only 10 two person tables. Although lots of people may get their drink and walk around the Distillery District. I ordered a Rhubarb Cream Soda and a Blondie. The Soda was very good. It was refreshing enough and the rhubarb didn't over power the drink itself. The Blondie was a good mix between soft and crunchy. It was delicious and something I would get again. Overall I would definitely go back but I would have to go there a few more times to give it 5 stars! read more

I'm SO glad I found this place. The owner lived in Sydney for 5 years and decided to make a café with great Australian-style coffee when he returned. The coffee rocks! Tastes like home (I'm also Australian!) and the avocado toast is amazing!!! Also awesome - honey butter toast. seriously gave it a try! No other foods - pretty much just toast and coffee. Great espresso. Really shitty service. The guy at the counter interrogated us about how much cream or milk we were going to put in our espresso. The espresso they sell is not cheap, but they act like they lose money on the dairy. They wanted to charge us for an "iced latte". After we showed him half an inch, he grudgingly proceeded. We still got charged extra for the cream, and then the guy watched us like a prison guard while we poured a little cream into our iced espresso. That's after I left them 15% tip on the total. I've never seen such penny pinching cheapskates working as baristas in all of my international travels in decades. Total embarrassment to run a coffee shop like this. Will never be back. read more

Had a chance to drop by yesterday afternoon. I wanted something warm and not caffeinated, and the hot date latte seemed like a perfect fit - a mixture of dates, cinnamon, ginger and (for me) lactose-free milk. It was probably one of the nicest un-caffeinated hot drinks I have ever had! Though I couldn't really taste the dates, the spice of the ginger and cinnamon really came through. I drink a lot of hot ginger lemon tea especially when I'm sick, and I imagine this option is also great for when you also want a little bit of that extra coziness and comfort because of the frothed milk. I also ordered a chocolate chip cookie. It was very thick, and was honestly a little harder than I expected. But I got it near the end of the day so maybe it's just been sitting in the jar for too long. All in all though, everything was much enjoyable about this coffee shop and I look forward to coming back! read more

They cappuccino is the correct 8oz serving, but the espresso paired with it is too mild for my taste. We also ordered a latte where the espresso blend really gets lost in the milk. The flavor of the espresso that comes through is really quite good, so imagine a cortado or straight pull would really be tasty. The environment is clean and appealing. The baristas were pleasant but not inviting and as a result it lacks some charm. They were very much down to business. Although I did not like the milk/espresso flavor blend, I still highly recommend you visit. Update/ next day I returned and the change in barista was a pleasant change as he was more engaged with the customer. read more

Aw yeah, definitely the top stop on our Distillery District sampler tour. It is a solid coffee shop with plenty of seating inside and out featuring exposed brick walls and modern European decor. For the caffeine fix, they get the job done. Their espresso is one of the best in town, very rich and flavorful. Definitely a notch above the competition. They have a nice looking array of pastries out front, including homemade pop tarts, ooh yeah. For me, though, I stuck to the savory, and I was richly rewarded. They have a small but delectable looking list of homemade toasts. The avocado toast is where I landed. It is absolutely terrific, featuring a veritable load of avocado, with every centimeter of bread covered in the green. It also had radishes sticking up out of the avo forest and lightly accompanied with some cholula hot sauce. My mouth is watering just typing this. Seems like a decent spot to get some work done in, too. read more

Beautiful cafe with nice decor and good coffee. Came here when the distillery area was holding the christmas market, so we had to go through an art gallery entrance. We had a latte and a chai latte, my favorite part were the beautiful porcelain cups. They also have a large selection of coffee edible and inedible merchandise. Would come back again soon! read more

Absolutely had a wonderful experience at Arvo. The service was amazing the smashed avocado toast was delicious and the coffee was made to what I call perfection. Best stop on my trip.
