Ezra's Pound located along Dupont near Spadina (closest subway station being Dupont) is coffee shop serving up coffees, teas, and pastries and sandwiches. They also have coffee gear as well as a small pantry of items for purchase as well. I've been to Ezra's Pound several times throughout the years where I've found that their coffee is consistently good. I recently stopped by Ezra's Pound again to grab a coffee. Service was friendly and I had my cortado there. The space is casual and chill with their black and white tiled floors and wooden tables. I ordered at the counter and was tempted to grab a pastry but decided against it. I also noticed that they had sandwiches you can purchase as well for lunch. After ordering at the counter staff were nice enough to bring my drink to me. My cortado was made well with latte art as well. Overall, a great neighbourhood spot for coffee, tea, pastries, or lunch. The cool casual interior make you want to stay and enjoy the vibes of the space. Definitely do check this coffee shop out for great coffee if you are around the area! read more

Alright people who love cafes this is a place you must visit, very cozy, a little old school (with old furniture and the huge sign), gives vintage vibes. The cafe is small however plenty of seat available. The place was half full on a Monday noon with some regulars and some people are there to work/study/read. Whoever was playing music had a good taste in music (can keep it a bit low but that's a personal opinion) Now the sandwich is goood, I wanted vegan option and some of the things were already sold out however the cashier/Barista recommended this sandwich and it was good. The price may seem a little high but I think they use quality stuff so it seems reasonable. Got my nice hot Cappuccino and the price of coffee is pretty good. Also the pour over - black coffee I had afterwards was pretty decent as well. Will definitely recommend going there to sit and enjoy the experience of this cafe. read more

Ezra's is a super cozy lil cafe, I used to go for coffee and always had a good experience: a rare gem, amoungst the crumbling hellfire of fast food franchises figuratively drop kicking smaller businesses out of the ring. My three stars today summed up in three words: weak heckin' tea I do expect chai to taste. At all. I especially expect $7 chai to taste. At my dismay, it did not. It wasn't bad: it simply wasn't. I can taste only the oat milk and the wee bit of honey I asked for. Better teas for the price that would not illicit a fit of rage followed by a pounding (heh) from a british person, would be appreciated. If you're cheapin' out on tea because it's not a main sale point, lower the price. And if you pay a lot for the tea you sell? You are being scammed. You drank the koolaide, here being the weak heckin' tea. My final note: to the fella who marked my cup for my drink, your handwriting is adorable. Went here last week. There was a time I'd always visit Ezra's pound because they are one of the few cafes in the city that use Harmony milk. Yet I realized how expensive buying a coffee outside was, on the daily and have since changed my ways. Visiting Ezra's is more like a treat place for me. Along Dupont, just on the outskirts of the Annex, lays Ezra's Pound. I got a regular 2 shot Americano and one of their coconut and chocolate breakfast cookies. Both were tasty! They put the milk in behind the counter and for me, I am extra particular with my milk to coffee ratio because it is all in the colour for me. I tend to like things lightly sweetened and typically have honey in my coffee. Yet they have agave instead. Agave is an awesome alternative and is made from the same plant as Tequila! How cool! Side fact. Anyways, where one would need 2 TBSP of honey, one can have 1 TBSP of agave instead. Sadly, I didnt even taste the agave at all. I was disappointed in this, yet made my peace with it. Sometimes it's nice to have coffee without sweetness too. Now that coconut, chocolate cookie, now that is absolutely, 100% scrumptious! I can almost taste it in my mouth as I write this. Oatmeally, coconuty and chocolate rich. My oh my that is a cookie that could easily be a daily affair for me. I love that Ezra's features a mini store concept too. They sell Maple Syrup, they sell some to go snacks and juices, and they sell coffee filters to make your coffee experience as true, as pure, as authentic as possible. Maybe a lil bit of Ezra's in your morning routine, should you not visit the coffee shop. Their dining room has always seemed a little on the smaller side. However there is some breathing room on the bench outside. They have one of those old ttc fare collector things. Its nifty and adds to the place all the more. We visited on a Saturday around 1:00 PM, and it's clearly a very popular spot. It was packed! Literally, there were only 2 stools left when we arrived, which we thankfully grabbed. Think of this place as the embodiment of an upscale, indie vibe. Rustic, relaxed, family friendly, but sophisticated in their drinks and product offerings. We ordered a latte and a rooibos tea - the latte was decent, not the best I've had, but wasn't terrible. It was certainly not the worst, and didn't leave an over-done, over-roasted aftertaste. The tea was actually, really quite delicious (black tea rooibos), and the atmosphere is laid-back enough that it isn't so boisterous, you can actually do some work/reading if you choose to (which we did). Decent spot, unpretentious vibe, great staff. No complaints. For a latte and a rooibos tea, our total was around $7.75. Whenever we're back in the area, we'll definitely stop by again. read more

Located in the cutest neighbourhood - the Annex - this is probably one of my favourite cafes in Toronto. Although it's pretty small and sometimes packed with people, the size of it really adds to the cozy atmosphere. The windows are huge, so it's especially nice to sit at the big table in the morning with a cup of coffee and just look at people passing by. The coffee. It's great. I've tried almost all of the options, and they were all fantastic. The only thing I wish they had is more iced options. The food is also pretty awesome. It's simple. There are only four things you expect out of a coffee shop: 1. Good coffee and pastries 2. Comfortable space (I.e. Comfortable chairs, enough room etc...) 3. Working wifi if you are the working folk. 4. Solid music and vibe. Ezra's Pound hits the mark on everything EXCEPT one item, hence the 4-stars instead of 5. The coffee is delicious and the pastries look amazing (I will admit, I didn't purchase a pastry. I went across the street to the chocolatier for my dessert that day). The vibe is cozy and the decor is intriguing and fun. The item they are slightly lacking on is number two. The space is a little tight and well, the chairs are a little uncomfortable. I'm the type of person who enjoys their coffee on a delightfully comfy couch. Alas, this space has no couches... BUT they have a large window which lets in some nice natural light. So if you are looking for a place to get some work done, this is the place for you. I can assure you, you won't fall asleep with those chairs and delicious strong coffee :P read more

I loved this place when I lived here. Ezra is really friendly. Friendly service is one thing that keeps me coming back to a place even if I'm not in the neighbourhood. He makes a great latte and some good eats. Too bad there's no wifi here, but he doesn't need wifi to lure people in! The sandwich board advertising freshly baked croissants got me in here initially. The croissants, cookies and other baked goods are great. The tea is ok but is served in a cast iron tea pot which is a nice touch. The smoked salmon dish was my absolute favourite but I believe that it's now extinct. The smoked white fish is a close second but I'm sad that the smoked salmon is gone. The chicken sandwich is delicious, and I was told to try the meatloaf but it was all out when I asked. The baked goods (croissants for example) are better at this location than the Dundas West one, for some reason (not sure why). Overall, great spot for healthy and organic focused lunch, high quality coffee and baked goods. read more

Nice strong coffee, great atmosphere, I liked that it was open and instead of having the AC you could enjoy fresh natural air. We has cappuccinos and were great. I had a chocolate chip cookies that it was too salty, like really salty, I understand putting some salt on desserts and I like that, but this cookie was salty. The washroom was dirty and I'm usually not picky BUT there was blood (I know, ewww) on the toilet and on the floor. Other than those two things, it was great. read more

I've spent the summer a few doors down from Ezra's Pound and have hardly gone in because it's always so packed. I'm usually looking for a spot to do some work on my laptop and Ezra's is full of people chatting and reading and it's a little too popular to reliably have a spot for a laptop. Luckily, if they're too busy, there are a couple other spots within a few blocks. Being too popular is a good problem for a coffee shop to have, no? But when I do go in, it's always a good experience. The coffee is good. The space is charming. The staff are nice. When I showed up in that addled haze from long conference calls without any coffee and asked for an iced coffee and was asked if I wanted an iced Americano, cold brew, etc and I just looked at them with the sad, confused face that says 'please just put the caffeine in my bloodstream' they just rolled with it, didn't get annoyed, and asked if they should surprise me. Which is exactly what I want: coffee in any form. read more

I love this place! Ezra's is the perfect neighborhood coffee shop. It's cute, quirky, and accessible to the local dwellers. I've had the butter croissant, the chocolate sea salt cookie... and oh, the baguette/preserves is lovely! The granola & yogurt is a perfectly healthy and delicious weekend breakfast. Although I always opt for tea, my partner can attest that they make a good espresso. The only downside is that it gets really busy on weekend morning's and it's hard to get a seat. Great coffee. Amazing back patio during the warmer seasons. Seriously, it feels like you're in a leafy dreamworld. Catching up with a fried, a little meeting, and/or working there is amazing! Back Patio Tips: Wifi is a little touch and go if you're not close to building, so get a table close by. Do not use the plugs outside- the staff are very polite, but they will tell you it's an old building. Order at the counter and tell them you'll be sitting outside, so you can go around the back and get cozy. Then, they will bring it out to you, in real cups and dish ware. Most amazing atmosphere. Incredible patio. The baristas and Ezra are phenomenal. The coffee and treats are to die for! The croissants -oh wow! The patio, a little retreat from the bustle of the city. Organic milk and products. Environmentally-conscious and an inclusive space. I wrote my PhD thesis here, I thanked Ezra's Pound in my dissertation, and called it an inspiring space. My first time visiting the Dupont location, but my second Ezra's Pound experience. After my friend introduced me to the one on Dundas, I was delighted to learn that there was another close to me in the north Annex. How would I describe Ezra's Pound in one word? Easy- "Charming". First and foremost, the most enticing element of this cafe is the decor. Major props to the people who decorate these places, as there is nothing left out. It appears as if the designers scouted every antique store in Parkdale and Leslieville to fill this place with adorable wooden chairs, orange vinyl stools, mannequins, filing cupboards and every sort of kitchen related bric-a-brac you'd wish to find in your own home. There are a few small wooden tables with two chairs each, along with a larger one near the window, and a shallow ledge with stools on the left hand side of the cafe. I'm no coffee or espresso connoisseur, but I've come to the conclusion that if I have to put a decent amount of sugar in my cuppa, then it's strong, flavourful stuff, and that means it's good. It's definitely required at Ezra's Pound when it comes to their cappuccinos and lattes (delicious!) And as hard as I try, I can't resist their fresh baked goods. They offer cookies, muffins, scones, bars, tarts and croissants. I highly recommend their blueberry scone, a bit hefty in price (around $2.60), but it's fresh, organic (?) and just perfect for dipping in your latte. I recently tried their cookies ($2) and it was golden brown and crunchy with sweet dark chocolate chunks- yum! What I enjoy about this cafe is that you order, seat yourself and they bring you your coffee with a glass of water. It's all very lovely, and I've found all the employees friendly and personable. I've yet to try any of their food, but from what I've seen on their (unfortunately lacking) website, it looks fresh and appetizing. This place usually leaves me smiling and daydreaming as I gaze out the window and watch the passersby. The music has been right up my alley, with classic jazz playing at the Dupont location, and the Beatles and Camera Obscura at the Bellwoods one. On the weekend, it was sweltering in Toronto. So of course, once seeing Ezra's pound, we decided that an iced latte would be perfect. I have been by their location on Dundas west, but i was unfamiliar with this location. The decor is really nice on the inside, very minimal. We ordered an ice latte, i was asked if i wanted sweetener, and i said yes. I then asked if it was flavoured, and he was like "oh No" (like how dare you ask, we would never sweeten a coffee. He then told me that it would cost $5.35, i was gobsmacked, but i do not mind paying, if it is worth it. Now i have had coffee all over the states, in the most trendy locales, and i have yet to pay more than 5 dollars. Now most boutique coffee bars include simple syrup at no charge, c'mon, it is simply sugar and water. I find it awful that they charge so much, they should just throw in the sweetener. The iced lattes came and they werent stirred so they looked really pretty, you could see the contrast in colours. I do appreciate that they take the effort and use coffee cubes, instead of simply using ice. I find it contradicting that they use coffee cubes instead of ice, but then charge for simple syrup. Upon tasting mine, it was very bitter, it didn't taste the slightest bit sweetened. Overall i was really looking forward to coming, and i was disappointed with the service and product. read more

Ezra's Pound (at least the Dupont location, haven't been to the Bellwoods one) is truly a gem of a coffee shop. Their offerings of fair trade and organic coffee and teas are pretty much a staple in chic Toronto coffee houses these days, but with much of the baking done on the premises also with similar guidelines in mind, Ezra's takes it to the next level. I'm a big fan of their iced americanos, if you get them to stay you get the espresso served in a beaker, a cup full of espresso ice cubes and water so you can mix the americano to your liking, and the portions are generous. As far as baked good are concerned, the croissants are flaky and buttery and oh so fluffy, while the butter tart, at approximately 3$, is pretty much the most sinful tart I've ever experienced. The crust was flaky but still moist by the middle of it and the buttery-gooiness of the tart was seriously decadent. I'd rather only eat 3$ butter tarts for the rest of my life than be subjected to the gummy prepacked-like offerings you seem to get at the average coffee shop, Viva Ezra's Pound! read more

I really enjoy the home made yoghurt. But sometimes if there is no home made yoghurt they just use regular store bought stuff. There is a huge difference. I like the fact that the milk comes in glass containers. Things are slightly overpriced. I love both locations of Ezra's and this was my first time here. Lots of good coffee tea and pastry selections - would rather come here and S*****cks. They have best sea salt and chocolate cookie (still warm!) ever. I also like the seating which is good for two people per table, and some benches on the side. Allows for more flexibility in seating and optimizes the space. Great place to chill with a nice ambiance for 30 mins and read my book before I had to be somewhere. read more

What stands out about Ezra's Pound is definitely the vibe. It's got that whole transport-you-back-to-a-time-when-things-were-different feel to it and I adore that. This is one of the best coffee shops in Toronto and it is certainly the only one north of Bloor I'd venture to, not that I live particularly far. I just would never think to go to Dupont. Ezra's Pound is tiny, with about six little tables, a counter, and a larger table in the window. It has free wifi (ask for the password), a shortage of outlets, organic everything, a lunch menu, and fabulous music. Everyone there is beautiful. The server closing up shop let us sit there while she swept the floor. I was so pleased to be served a constantly-refilled glass of water with my coffee, which is such a perfect and simple concept, and found coffee ice cubes in my iced latte. They played Andrew Bird for a while. The drinks are in the $3-6 range with tax, and my companion's brie-and-apple sandwich hit double digits, maybe $11 with tax. It's just perfect. read more

Even with the best tasting coffee in the world, served mildly hot, twice, just doesn't cut it. My latte arrived warm enough to put my index finger in quite comfortably. Our party of three all returned their warmish lattes asking the server for a nice hot cuppa. They were re-made immediately, without much enthusiasm BUT at the same tepid temperature! How unfortunate......but we drank them anyway. We had a time restraint. What a way to spoil a delicious, smooth, organic coffee at a recommended coffee shop. Oh well! read more

The tables are small, the hours are wonky, and their Annex location is not the most convenient to get to...but all is forgiven because the iced coffee never dilutes. I think it may actually not get better. I previously dissed the entire Dupont strip for having nothing but gag-worthy coffee, but it turned out that there was more to the west than liquor and jovial panhandlers. Ezra's Pound, known to me from dundas west, had a location I didn't know about. I owe a big thanks to the person who told me that there is good coffee and cheese near that pretty good LCBO. So, several people have made mention of the expense of coffee and pastries here. I must be spending too much time in indy coffee shops because i didn't find it shocking. Noticeable, but not aversive. And worth it because the coffee and the baked goods have proven to be really,, consistently, top notch. I love the atmosphere. The cluttering of tables facing the window, the wood and chalkboards, the playful mix of music (Thriller album on at the moment), the permission to sit and think or read or work. And I want to know what magic spell they cast to maintain an open storefront window without having people stop to gawk. One advantage of being on that relatively unappreciated strip I suppose. I'm going to be a regular for sure. A few tips. If you, like me, want to test the quality of a coffee shop by drinking its offering of just plain coffee first, then avoid my confusion by knowing that what you are looking for is something called a "pour over". The guy was nice about it, but I felt kind of goofy. I suppose calling it a pour over refers to the process - they aren't throwing it out of a carafe that's been brewing disaster on a hotplate. The other tip is that it is promoted as a breakfast place and I see that it was even nominated for "Ontario's Best Breakfasts" (says the sticker in the window), but the chalkboard offers pastries, yogurt with fruit and granola, and baguette with a few toppings. Service is friendly and slow at times, but not friendly or slow enough that those qualities stand out. The place can get crowded throughout the day. Like all coffee shops there are people who make this place their 9-5 office, so seating can be tough at times. The coffee is quite good. They have espressos, americanos, lattes, etc., all of which are worth trying. In the mornings, try a chocolate pastry or a lemon scone with a cup of coffee. The baked goods are excellent. read more
