We always take our donations here for the DAV. But I decided to drop some things off and then also go inside this time. The staff in here is very nice and helpful. They have a large and well organized selection of housewares, video and audio recordings, clothing, electronics, and all kinds of things. As some reviewers have mentioned, the prices are a little steep. It says "thrift store" in the name, but thrifty shoppers might be shocked by the numbers on the tags. I'm sure you can find a bargain or two here if you look hard enough. But when I used dinged up Crockpot is priced more than a new one, I wasn't going to stick around long. read more

I know its all for a good cause but good grief! When it's a blue tag day or whatever color tag day there are NEVER any blue tags! Some of the prices are more then the retail price on the item. Its a joke. Somebody has some VERY deep pockets. Thrift store shopping needs an enema! Make it fun again for those that love to thrift or/and make it affordable for those that need to shop thrift! Red Racks is horribly overpriced. I have found clothes with holes in them for $10, cheap fast fashion brands sold at the same price they were originally sold for. Anything with a name brand seems to automatically be $15+. Considering they have no quality control and they get all of their items for free I find the pricing to be outrageous. Also smells weird in there every time I go in. I've been in many thrift stores and none have smelled as stale and dusty as Red Racks. read more

I was skeptical about Red Racks after reading the other reviews. I found lots of nice items inside. Store was well organized and for a Sunday morning, lots of folks inside. Home wares section was small. Clothes galore. Not a lot of shoes nor purses nor accessories. Noticed the KC area thrift stores all have a sports fan section. Chiefs clothing galore. Not many toys nor furniture. I'm used to seeing a huge stuffed animal section. I'm hunting for a Disney Pluto stuffed animal to complete a collection. I do agree that the prices were higher than most thrift stores. The quality of items was good with even a few new pieces. read more

I bought a bag, that had dooney and bourke markings all over it. With a price tag to match. 90.00 for a fake. I am beyond dissapointed. I am a veteran, and i choose to buy from red racks for that reason. I go gome, and inside the pocket behind the lining, i see a different logo. This is not the 1st time redracks was caught selling actual fakes. Everytime i go, and mention it, they say they have purse experts. I feel it is a dishonor to I treat the people you say you are benefitting that way. Its a dishonor to fraud and steal from anyone. read more

Overpriced, cluttered and disorganized. Some of the items you find there would be cheaper to buy new. Everything is scattered throughout the store, so if you are looking for something in particular, good luck, and make sure to check through the whole store because you will probably miss about half of the options. What this place needs is a few 50% off store wide sales, and a different pricing strategy. read more

I never knew this place existed until I typed "Thirift Stroes" into my GPS. It is located directly next to Downtown Lee's Summit and is quite large as far as thrift stores go. I would compare it to a Goodwill. I purchased many kitchen utensils for my new apartment and everything was very cheap (which is what I expect.) They have a lot of clothes that are very well organized and maintained. They have a check-in offer for 5% off your purchase and they also have a Groupon available - $10 for $20 worth of stuff. This place charges you store antique prices. Not thrift store prices. Used Nike's for $40 all beat up. Really this is a thrift store not the mall. One plate $8. Worst price thrift store I have ever been too. I sort and resell on eBay so I have been to hundreds of them. The employee who has blue hair and is a young kid needs to learn what real customer service looks like. When an elderly woman went back up to the register after she was rung up, she said can you ring these back up because somethings not adding up right and the employee said " why? You already bought them..." the lady said she didn't care because she thought she was being over charged. The kid then yelled across for someone to help him saying "can you help me because this lady doesn't believe me that I didn't over charge her" sure enough he did over charge her $15.98. He was completely rude and didn't apologize. I've shopped here a lot and haven't seen this employee but I can guarantee you he's not worth keeping with that attitude. read more

Omg! Workers in the back where breaking glass items and laughing as I journeyed through aisles that we're pushed to close to the next one. The shelves were full of items thrown on them like a teenager would do, if you asked them to clean their room. This store is poorly managed and when I asked about the poor shopping conditions the manager was dismissive and rude. He said they did it like this to make money for veterans. I can honestly say no disabled or elderly veteran could traverse this store. read more

Supposedly you can "donate" $5 to Park in their lot while going to dinner or one of the downtown bars. Well, since they close at 9 and if you park there after closing , I am not sure how you are you supposed to "donate" $5? So instead they call GT Towing, and have you cars towed. GT Towing, who by the way have the most unprofessional people working for them that I have ever witnessed in my life! And guess what? They only take cash! Gee, that is not a scam is it? Their claim to fame is their Sunday color tag sale...$.79 that day. HOWEVER, I have shopped them from day one at their first location. Now I truly believe we are seeing "Switch and Bait". This Saturday was tan tags. I was one of first through door. Not a tan tag to be found in women's clothing or in the home decor isles. Asked an employee and she said, "Good luck finding one". Customers were talking to each other, "Did you see any?" No was everyone's response. Last week not a green tag to be found; this week tons. Prior week not one yellow tag; this week dozens in every size. What do they think we are? Stupid? My question is do you pull and hide them or re-tag weekly? Definitely not wasting my time anymore being made a fool of. read more

My daughter suggested we stop in, while in the area, since I'm a thrift store connoisseur. It was fun driving to this one, as it sits in the quaint historical downtown district of Lee Summit. I was a little disappointed at the drop-off area, cluttered with half-opened bags of clothes, toys, etc. I didn't see any of those neat and tidy green boxes, you see at the other Red Racks. However, inside was impressively orderly and clean. Prices were better than those in our area. The whole family found a few of the things we were looking for, and were pleased with our purchases. Unfortunately, one of our favorite buys didn't make it into the bag, so we came home without an essential wardrobe item. THAT was a bummer. Definitely would suggest stopping by, if you enjoy thrifting - just keep an eye on your purchases, when you check out. read more

I go here often since its close enough to where I live and it's a nice little place, although I wish they'd keep their jackets stock out year round. It's a good thrift store but it's absolutely packed to the gills. The reason why is because they charge 2-3 times as much as they should for getting these items literally donated. I don't want to pay $8 for a thin used sweater. They have good stuff if you dig, but you have to be there when they open on half off days. If you aren't one of the first people in that store there's no way you could even move around in their tiny packed isles. Don't go here unless you're an assertive shopper. read more

Pretty good selection of items usually. As a relatively poor person, for decades now I have relied on thrift stores to clothe my family and furnish my home. The prices have been trending up so high, it was only the 50% off days where I felt I was even close to paying reasonable thrift store prices. Lately, though, with such high prices bordering on and oftentimes exceeding NEW item prices at retail stores plus all the exclusions to their sales (do you want to circulate inventory or not?), even sale days are becoming too expensive. I thought the point of thrift stores was to be charitable and help out the less fortunate, both on the customer front as well as whatever "cause" to which they contribute. It is very unfortunate because sometimes I will find some really great things, but due to the price markup, or the fact that that particular tag happened to be "excluded" from the sale meant I could not get that item for the person who I knew would have appreciated it. It's time thrift stores remembered their purpose rather than getting so greedy with their relatively free inventory. Also, last time I was at this particular location, there was an employee actually screaming her head off about having to work late on a sale day. Her temper tantrum could be heard throughout the entire store, even yelling to her coworkers right in front of me and other customers. I know working in retail can really suck, but that was so completely unprofessional and I was embarrassed for her. read more

Most overpriced thrift store! Nothing thrifty about it. I can get stuff Brand New at discount stores at better prices. I've even seen original price tags on an item with Red Racks marking the price up. Must be nice making a profit off of items that 100% donated. I'm all for helping our veterans but not by ripping your customers off in the process. Aisles are overcrowded and stacked, I don't even think any disabled customer could shop in there comfortably even if they wanted to. Wheel chair access is definitely out of the question and I find it a little ironic considering the store is a charity for disabled veterans. On 50% off days it's so crowded with people that you can't even really see what's in the store. Staff is often irritated but honestly I understand why. How can your work in a zoo like that? I will not donate my items there anymore, I'd rather give them to someone else for free myself, or another charity just so Red Racks doesn't rip them off. Also I used to get text messages when their we're "sales" and it would send me 10 messages consecutively about the same sale in a row. Super annoying I never needed that many notifications about your ripoff robbery party. read more

I was very disappointed with my experience with Red Racks Lee's Summit today. To make a long story short I purchased a table and two stools this morning, paid for them and arranged to pick up this evening, Went to pick up and they had sold to someone else. Loaded the table in the other persons car while I was in the store trying to get things straightened out. Was laughed at by the young men who loaded the table. Was told the mistake was made, the store was sorry, they would give me a refund and that was that. Have frequented this thrift store on a weekly basis but today will be my last visit. read more
