I'm sure you can find a bargain or two here if you look hard enough. But when I used dinged up Crockpot is priced more than a new one, I wasn't going to stick around long.

I admit I think this is a rather duplicitous business practice. It also seems random what clothes are put up there. Some of it was the same fast fashion that infests the rest of the clothing racks, while some finer materials and true vintage was languishing on the $2.98 racks. It just didn't make sense to me! It's worth a stop if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way for Frugal's.

I'll be the first to admit, all thrift stores have a funky smell to them and I found Frugal's to be especially smelly; nothing to the point of unbearable but it lingers for the duration of the visit. Now in terms of being what do they offer, well pretty much everything and anything. Furniture, clothing, toys, books, CDs/DVDs, cookware, you name it. I found the kitchen section in terms of pots, pans, mixers and things of that nature to be very sparse while their main attraction was clothing. Off in the back right, one can find a small furniture section with some decent to horrible offerings. I liked some of the books they had and was extremely tempted to pick something up since I found many that perked my interest. Their music selection had me laughing as I noticed a couple odd bands from the 80s, 90s and beyond which I don't think anyone would buy. Color Me Bad anyone? I don't recall seeing much for motorized lawn equipment but I was in and out relatively quickly. Overall, thrift stores have a very particular clientele and subculture. I'm pretty sure if you're reading this you know how things go, so I'm not going to try and upsell you, rather give you the thumbs up to come on by and see what they got. Usually if you go to a thrift store, the toy area is trashed from the kids playing with the toys. But they had the toys higher up on shelves and bagged with the pieces that go with the toys. So they actually had a better selection of toys because all the pieces are most pieces were intact. I ended up buying some toys there for my grandson and also some books. Their prices were good compared to other thrift stores. I did not look at the clothing prices which tend to be ridiculous at most thrift stores. We did not have to wait long at all to check out and the woman was friendly. I have been to the other Blessings Abound thrift store in Overland Park, but not this one. After moving to Kansas City I quickly scoured the town for the best in the area-and headed off to several in both Westport and Overland Park that Yelp claimed were some of the best in town. This shop, however, is BY FAR heads and shoulders above the rest. When you walk into this store everything about it screams upscale, chic, modern-yet-vintage boutique. The decor is perfection (and something I always promise I will try to craft for my own home) and the window displays are perfectly styled to give you an idea of the season's trends and the store's offerings. The owners/staff are also the most welcoming, friendly bunch I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. (I can tell you I've walked into Ditto and Clothz Minded several times and never once been told "Hi" or treated like a valued customer. ) And if the initial greeting doesn't sell you-try plucking something off the rack and wait to see how long it takes one of the owners or staff to offer to place your items in a fitting room for you a-la-Free People and other high end boutiques. THAT'S customer service, my friends. As far as some of these negative reviews go-I'd like to remind everyone that one of the most important parts of owning a store like this is knowing your buyer. They can't buy everything you want to sell them-they'd hemorrhage money like crazy if they purchased everything people bring in. Fast forward to today: I receive a text message saying my clothes have been processed and I have an offer ready. Excited, I arrive at the store, only to be told that they are looking for fall clothes. They told me to bring my clothes next year. No offer was given. I'm sorry, but it is not good business to tell someone that he/she has an offer ready, only to not receive any money at all. Additionally, there were clothes I brought that, with the right accessories, such as a shrug, could easily be fall clothes because of the colors. At first, I told them to donate my clothes, but after giving it some thought, returned and took them back. I wish the girl yesterday would have told me they are only accepting fall clothes. I would have gone through the box and pulled out the fall pieces right then and there. Instead, I feel like they didn't go through the box in its entirety and my time as a customer was not valuable to them.

It was a weird time of day so there wasn't really anyone else in there except one other customer who was trying stuff on. The clerk gave me a friendly greeting, asked if I needed any assistance and I let her know I'd just be browsing around. They did have a pretty good selection, I started in the sale section because I'm cheap (haha). I found several nice tops, that were new with tags, but each of them had a flaw of some sort. I don't hold this against Clothes Mentor, especially considering the fact that this is a consignment store AND that I was mostly looking at clearance items. I guess the part that bothered me a little is that some of the tags would say AS IS on them and some didn't. Maybe not every issue had come to their attention yet. So, just be careful. I found a shirt that was a great price, so decided to get it. When I went to check out the lady working was so bubbly and friendly. I actually enjoyed shopping there and left happy. So, even though Lee's Summit isn't a place I get to often, I wouldn't mind going back sometime in the future.
