He gave me options and made suggestions while respecting my priorities. When he came to do the work, I was blown away at his professionalism. He prepped my area with great attention to detail, kept the dust to a minimum, asked me to walk through at the end, then cleaned up completely. I had Jesse repair ceiling cracks from foundation settling in an older home. He took time to explain how he repaired it and even took care to match my ceiling texture. I worked with Jesse and his team to finish a commercial remodeling project that another contractor…read morehad done a good job on, but abandoned the project at about 95% done. I paid Jesse $15k to finish this job, and he was aware of each element of the project including trim work, painting, and fixing the floors that were not glued down properly. We started the project well, and the work done on the crown molding looked good. They touched up some drywall texture and it looked really rough in certain areas, and was much heavier than the existing texture. It seemed the guys didn't really know what they were doing with texture. He did fix it somewhat, although there are still areas where you can visibly see it does not match. Also some of the doors/trim that were painted were done quickly with a very heavy textured brush, and should have been done with a light roller to match the others. But for the most part they fixed things we pointed out and they looked better by the end. Where the issues really came in was at the end. Jesse told us to blue tape everything that needed to be redone and we did. They then came and "fixed" it and removed the tape, however we noticed many of the things we taped looked the same and the tape had just been removed. We did that three or four times and there was still things that they were just removing tape on. I then walked it with him and he said he was going to fix the things I pointed out, including flooring that still needed to be glued back down. He then sent guys over and they didn't do any of the things we discussed. He told me to blue tape it AGAIN, and I said no that they are just removing the tape and not doing the work, but if he sends guys we will show them what to fix. Fast forward a few months, and the last few things we had taped were never fixed, floor tiles are still bubbling up that he was supposed to fix, and he says because he did "extra work" that he is no longer responsible to finish the actual job he contractually agreed to. (The "extra work" he referred to was putting in drywall ceiling instead of drop ceiling in a room addition. We had never discussed or agreed to a drop ceiling so I was going to cancel the job, but he agreed to switch it to keep the job.) I tried to come to an agreement with him and potentially give him more work if he finished the previous job. However he didn't even show up when he said he would to quote me on it, so at this point I'm just going to find a new contractor. I'm disappointed but I only want to work with people who keep their word and honor their contracts. Attached part of contract and screenshots of texts.

Texas Attorney General…read more P.O. Box12548, Austin,TX. 78711-2548 I'm no friend of A. Paradise Construction and Remodeling or Preston McGuire owner nor would I hire them to do any kind of work or recommend him to anyone. All I can say is beware of A. Paradise Construction and Remodeling if you're in need of any kind of work to be done and considering them. On 8/23/2017, I signed a contract with A. Paradise Construction and Remodeling, Preston McGuire owner at, 10648 Towerwood Dr.. Ft. Worth, TX. 76140 Ph. no. 817-713-5479, to remodel a small bathroom. This contract carried a 4 year warranty against workmanship and leaks. The work consisted of; 1. Remove and replace when complete the vanity and towel .2. Some minor construction work on the shower door opening, replace the shower value (which we furnished), remove all the existing tile and backer board replace with hardy board type backer board retile the shower walls and floor. 3. Retile the bathroom floor. 4. Texture the bathroom walls and repaint. All work was to be completed 4 to 5 days no more than a week. Work started on 8/ 29. Preston McGuire's step brother Ryan Little, owner of RL Construction & Remodeling out of Lawton, OK. Ph. no. 580-559-3722 did all the work. Due to him having personal and business problems in Oklahoma there were a lot of delays, after installing the shower floor Ryan had to pull it up and retile due to poor quality cut tile around shower drain. Most of the work was completed on around Thur. 9/28/17. Ryan Little, had some personal problems in Oklahoma so I agreed to grout the shower floor and reset the towel so he could be in Oklahoma on Friday the 29th. . I had some paint work to do plus have the granite vanity top installed so we didn't use the shower until 10/20/17, at which time I discovered the shower didn't have any water pressure and hardly any hot water. Plus the shower floor wouldn't drain properly. The center drain was higher than rest of the floor allowing up to ¼" of water stand in shower that wouldn't drain and it seemed like the drain itself had a blockage (possible due to some of the material falling into the drain when Ryan tore out the old shower pan). I have scheduled a plumper to look at this situation/problem this week. The cost of the contract with A. Paradise Construction and Remodeling was $2600.00. A $1000.00 up front and the balance when the job was finished, which we paid to Ryan Little on 9/28. This was before we knew we had these problems. And it appears the 4 year warranty isn't worth the paper it written on. I started trying to get in touch with Preston and Ryan on 10/21. Called every day the following week. As far as Preston McGuire, one day they answered and hung up, every other time it went to voice mail but it was full and you couldn't, leave a message. With Ryan, I left a message every day but never got a return call On 10/24/2017 I called Home Advises who originally listed A. Paradise Construction as a reliable contractor. They told me they had dropped him from their listing as a reliable contractor and had not been able to get in touch with them.I also filed a complaint with the Ft. Worth BBB early Dec. Talked with both Home Adviser and the BBB on l/ 12/2018 neither had gotten a response from Preston McGuire by phone or e-mail.
