Best cleanest restaurant in Terre Haute with great wait staff. Ate here twice in the last week cuz the rest of the restaurants were horrible in town. Definitely stop and eat dinner here if you are in town.

Impressed this summer power bowl is an option for lunch at Red Lobster

I come here when I am visiting my folks. They only want to sit in the bar, so I am never in the dining room (not sure if I know what it even looks like back there). We also go during off hours to miss the lunch crowd and avoid a dinner crowd all together. They also think Tammy is the best waitress ever (she has worked for Red Lobster for like 30 years! and I too kind of agree she might be the best waitress ever...she sets the bar on kindness and is ever so sweet to my parents. Although my folks have said that sometime the fish will be not so great one time versus another time, I think my personal experiences having come here a dozen plus times over the last few years and three times this last month, my meals have been consistent. Always attempting to seek out the maximize amount of protein and greens, minimal amount of bad carbs and butters, their summer power bowls have hit the mark for me personally. Really a great healthy meal option that checks all the boxes in my book. I have had it with the salmon (which is the same size portion of salmon on the lunch menu if I was just going to order a piece of salmon). Fresh, light, wholesome and delicious. This Red Lobster at this location has been in Terre Haute since I was a kid. It is nostalgic in many ways with that aquarium of lobsters right there to greet me at the front door as always. Maybe the ambiance could be a bit brighter and the Red Lobster brand could use a refresh to do this, but the establishment is always clean, albeit a little stale. But bring on the cheddar biscuits (which have shrank in size over the years but are the same deliciousness I remember from my youth!), in hopes that Tammy is working and me and my parents will gladly return.

I would like to preface this review with the fact that this is my second visit to a Red Lobster - ever. Maybe it's one of those places that grows on you because you've gone there your entire life and have fond memories of. For me, it was just a place to grab lunch. We had a large party so we made a reservation a week ahead. Showed up only to find out no one put it in the system (minus one star). We had the name of the person who was on the phone and everything but things happen I guess. I got the make your own lunch special with fried scallops and garlic shrimp scampi. I liked the seasoning of the scampi but there were like five shrimps on the plate. The quantity of the scallops were more but the quality was less (minus one star). Honestly it just looked sad sitting on my plate. I think the portions were really small - even for my coworkers who had different items. The only plate that looked filling was the bourbon glaze shrimp skewers. Overall, if this place is nostalgic then go for it. If not, I'd say skip it and try some other place. The three stars are really for our fantastic waiter.

But seriously is it the steak or rolls with cinnamon butter that are the major draw at steak house? I will let you ponder on that., My weekday dinner stop was somewhat brief being on the road with a schedule. No problem parking, or waltzing in and being offered seating. But first a look at the case to choose a steak. The dining room was tidy and hostess friendly. Soon after being seated my waitress arrived with drink order and rolls. I wasted no time lettering her know a Ft. Worth ribeye was chosen from the case and medium temp. The sides loaded sweet potato and mixed vegetables. For drink a tap beer. As I waited on my dinner the rolls smothered with cinnamon butter helped my appetite after not having lunch. The bread was hot and yummy! Within 20 minutes food hit the table and everything was correct. I love a great loaded sweet potato and hit that first, so good! The steak was a bit overcooked, but still delicious and no complaints. The mixed vegetables fresh. I did receive a follow up and offer for more rolls. The check was taken care of at the table on their machine. Although prices have skyrocketed I feel they have done better than others trying to hold the line. This Terre Haute Roadhouse was a solid stop and got me down the road.

Our latest visit was on a Saturday evening (5/2/26) on Prom night & the place was crazy busy. I ordered a filet & got a ?? steak which I asked the waitress about & she sent the manager (Marshall) over to assist me. He arrived at our table within 2 or 3 minutes & analyzed the situation & agreed there was a steak mistake... Marshall emerged from the kitchen within just a few minutes with a perfectly grilled, melt in your mouth Filet. I asked him how he got that done so quickly & he told me he knew people in the kitchen. He has a sense of humor too! I realize that this was a simple mistake, as it's ridiculously difficult to keep everything straight when you're cooking orders for 300 people at a time... Bottom line: This restaurant is a definite go to in Terre Haute! It's a little pricy, but worth every cent in all around quality & service! You definitely get what you pay for! We were warmly greeted by Michaela who promptly seated us. The restaurant was clean and full of patrons. Nicole was our server who was super friendly, attentive, and super sweet and hospitable. It was delicious ! The meat was tender, the stuffing well seasoned and the cranberry sauce tasty. I ordered the chicken pot pie which was incredible ( and endorsed by Nicole!) The entire dish was soooo good, hot from the oven and the best I've ever had. I was well on my way to devouring the whole thing until we asked Nicole about the cookie dough bread pudding....i asked about ordering one and soon after a big warm chunk of it appeared on the table. Not gonna lie and sad to say, once I started to eat it, I lost my taste for the chicken pot pie :) Yummy yummy yummy and not too sweet. Well, two to go boxes are in the car now! It's dated in the best possible way: dim lighting, worn-in character, familiar faces, and that unmistakable local hangout atmosphere where regulars clearly outnumber first-timers. The highlight here is the Tweety Burger, and honestly, that's the reason to come. It reminded me immediately of the classic Midwest style you'd find at places like Minor-Dunn in Highland, Indiana. The patty is smashed thin and cooked flat on the grill, giving it those crispy edges and deep, savory flavor you only get from a well-seasoned griddle that's seen years of use. It tastes homemade--not engineered, not trendy, just a straightforward burger done right. You can tell they take their time with the food. Nothing feels rushed or mass-produced. The burger comes out hot, flavorful, and satisfying without trying to be gourmet or overcomplicated. No towering Instagram presentation--just a solid, honest burger that delivers exactly what you want from a local pub. Service matched the vibe perfectly. The staff were personable, welcoming, and genuinely friendly in that small-town way that makes you feel less like a customer and more like a guest stopping by a neighborhood spot. Charlie's isn't flashy. It's not modern. And if you're looking for upscale dining or trendy décor, this isn't the place. But if you want an authentic mom-and-pop tavern experience with a burger that locals clearly treat as a tradition, it's worth the stop. Best advice: stick with the Tweety Burger. Don't overthink the menu. Order it, enjoy the atmosphere, and experience a piece of local Terre Haute character. Not a destination restaurant--but absolutely a solid local classic you should try at least once.
