They've got a pretty large menu with all sorts of breakfast options (which they serve all day), lunch, things like sandwiches and burgers, and more filling stuff for dinner like fried chicken and mashed potatoes. Even though the place was packed, service was prompt and super friendly. It had the classic Americana feel of a diner with every day local people having weekend lunch. Menus and beverages provided by Destiny (her real name, not a stage name), who was helpful, friendly, and efficient. Six Bone had a half rack of ribs w stringy beans and broccoli. I had a hot Turkey dinner w mashed, stringy beans, stuffing, and cranberry sauce, all smothered w a rich brown gravy. SB raved about his ribs, and gnawed feverishly on the bones afterwards. Leave it to Yelp again for leading us to Metro Diner while driving through the state of Indiana. What a winner all the way around!! We were warmly greeted by Michaela who promptly seated us. The restaurant was clean and full of patrons. Nicole was our server who was super friendly, attentive, and super sweet and hospitable. The menu offered several options and it was difficult to pick. My husband ordered the roasted turkey platter, served with mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans and cranberry sauce. It was delicious ! The meat was tender, the stuffing well seasoned and the cranberry sauce tasty. I ordered the chicken pot pie which was incredible ( and endorsed by Nicole!) The entire dish was soooo good, hot from the oven and the best I've ever had. I was well on my way to devouring the whole thing until we asked Nicole about the cookie dough bread pudding....i asked about ordering one and soon after a big warm chunk of it appeared on the table. Not gonna lie and sad to say, once I started to eat it, I lost my taste for the chicken pot pie :) Yummy yummy yummy and not too sweet. Well, two to go boxes are in the car now! Service: The girls at the front that seat you are amazing, very kind and caring for your needs. The table servers are nice as will. I always order water with lemon. BUT the lemons are always bad /rotten. Black spots and dark spotted fruit. The food is severed hot and delicious. I would give Metros a 5 but the management is very cl-icky and look at you like they just broke wind. Happy eats. read more

First time here. Unfortunately probably not again since we are only driving through. I got fish and chips with slaw. Definitely not kfc slaw. OMG! So good. I found recipe online and will definitely try at home. Fries were amazingly crunchy. Can get spiced or not. I am a not. Fish was lightly breaded so you actually tasted the fish. Give this place 10 plus stars. Sorry no pic. Food disappeared before I thought about it Oh, and our waitress. Knows her job. Name is Christina. Asked us if we wanted drinks to go. That is a plus as no one usually asks us if we want one. I think she is trying to fatten us up though. Mouth watering desserts available but being diabetic, I passed on that. Stopped in while traveling for work. Loved the atmosphere. It was like an old style cafe and I liked that about it. Greeted and seated quickly and the waitress Destiny was very nice and quick with request. Went here recently while passing through. It was a nice clean place, and we were greeted right away and seated. I had the steak and scramble skillet, but I git it with sausage gravy instead of holindaze sauce. It was very good. It had a lot of steak in it and was a real stick to your ribs breakfast. After dropping my son off at ISU for a weeklong event, my wife and I wanted to find some good breakfast. The strong reviews on YELP helped us decide on the Metro Diner. We were NOT disappointed. This is a great diner with excellent food and service. Driving into the parking lot, it was clear that there were many locals who frequent the place, so that was a good sign. The service came quickly and we were delighted that they had a variety of mimosas, so we had a flight of those along with good coffee. I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken benedict meal and my wife enjoyed a good eggs, extra crispy bacon, and pancakes. It had the feel of a slightly upscale diner combined with your friendly neighborhood diner. Yet, the prices were great and the food was excellent. If one of my sons chooses a college in Terre Haute, I can see the Metro Diner becoming a regular stop. It's also located right off of I-70, so I can see this as a great pit stop when travelling. read more

This is a newer restaurant in town and if we really enjoyed it. We went there on a Saturday because it is not open for dinner. This makes it a little difficult to go to. I had the friend chicken sandwhich and it was really good. The fries were not too basic either. The friend chicken is a few of their tenders on the sandwhich. The honey mustard was really subtle. I got more on the side and dipped my chicken in it. This has a hometown feel to it even though at this point it is a chain. The original location I believe was on Drivers, Dine Ins and Dives. Got something rather simple and ordered right away bc I was hungry... so it came out within 10 minutes of sitting down. I ordered breakfast in the afternoon which is always nice to have since not a lot of places do that... but the bacon was cooked at least a good 4hrs previous to me sitting down and I asked for it to be soft and the gave me something that disintegrated in my hand. Then the waitress waited about 2 mind and dropped the check off before I was finished, so I got up and left half a plate of food and could care less. Didn't bother to ask for coffee so I didnt bother to ask, who knows how old it was anyways. The table was a bit dirty and so was the seats despite it not being very dirty. Wanted 12$ for over cooked bacon burnt toast and undercooked eggs, disgusting place and my waitress was a mirrored image of the whole experience. Would rather of gone to blueberry hill where the prices are a little lower and the food tastes better. All in all I think this whole town has such low standards I should just accept that sysco is terre hautes only chef and every resturant serves whatever they can get in a box. Ill never go back, simply put this place is not worth anything, and the people who come here are the same people who drink their wine out of a box and food from a bag. read more

Maybe we ordered the wrong things for breakfast. You know how some places have specialties? I've heard that Metro Diner has great burgers or chicken and waffles. We didn't order those. Instead, I ordered The Two Egg Breakfast. My eggs were rubbery and cold. No one likes cold eggs! I'd ordered a biscuit instead of toast. It was hard and cold. My partner ordered the French Toast. Like many places, the syrup is not real maple syrup. The coffee was weak. It was not great. Our server was nice enough. And, the surroundings were cute. That said, I'm willing to give it a shot again for maybe another meal. read more

Love this new addition in Terre Haute! The staff was friendly and service was so fast -- we literally got our check right around when we got our food so we weren't stuck waiting! I got a mimosa and the fruit waffle. The waffle was full of blueberries and had way more fruit on top compared to most fruit waffles I've had before. We also got an order of the biscuits and gravy which was HUGE. My boyfriend could barely finish it all. Overall the food and service was incredible! However, the menu is pretty limited so I wish there were some more combo options, as there aren't a ton of options to get combos outside of the b&g. read more

We stopped on the way home from Cincinnati, and decided to try Metro Diner. We really enjoyed our meals! Each of us had something and tasted each others as friends do. The chicken pot pie was excellent, the meatloaf was a hit as were the breakfast items. And our server, Paulina was awesome! Love a place with good food and good service! I have never been disappointed by going to a Metro Diner. This wasn't any different. The food is always good, service is fast, and the atmosphere is just perfect for a breakfast/lunch diner. I'm someone that loves the sound of activity around me in the morning and this really hits that spot. There were times during my visit here that the expediters pushing food out were yelling loudly and it was kind of a bit much, but that's not too much of a problem. The strawberry shortcake pancakes were good, if maybe a little dry. We also had the carnitas bowl, which was good, but I didn't like the extreme sweetness of the pork seasoning. I've had some great food from Metro before, so I'll be back, this is a new place and the staff (even though they were very professional) needs time to gel. read more
