Bev's is still very good home style food. They have a basic choice of menu items and specials posted. Seating is somewhat limited so we go during "off peak" times. Servers are friendly, efficient, and go-getters. The seats and tables are always clean and stocked with necessary items. Pork and sides always a mainstay. Salads are fresh with real ham. A taste of home baked desserts! Oh my! I had to come back with my mom for that scratch made apple crisp warmed to perfection and a delicious scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream. Mom had butterscotch pie with meringue heaped high! Had the opportunity to sit and chat with Bev and had an enjoyable conversation. Great to have a nice lunch date with my mom. I wish I'd never eaten here. I had the biscuits and gravy and German hashbrowns. The biscuits and gravy are the worst. The "award winning" entre was the worst I've ever had. Somehow the gravy has a "shiny" sheen to it. The flavor wasn't even there. The German hash browns were good though. The waitress was good except she didn't act like she wanted to be there. Parking is free but only available on the streets. I would avoid this place at all costs. read more

The country fried steak was great. It's nice to find a place that actually still uses hand breaded steak. Good amount of food for the price. I was too full to enjoy some of the great looking desserts. Worth a try when you're in Terre Haute. read more

I had egg white omelette with veges. Veges were delicious and cooked fresh. I asked not to give hash browns and instead I got the bean salad or green of the day. They still had dirty dishes on the table but several servers looked our way including one that was bringing food to the table next to us. Driving cross country we wanted breakfast and yelped breakfast in Terre Haute. This place had four stars so we tried it it was off the beaten path in the neighborhood setting. Our server was very friendly and the food was very tasty the place was very old but had a country charm. I had pancakes and they were absolutely delicious. My husband had the breakfast special eggs bacon and potatoes and it was absolutely wonderful. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a good hearty breakfast. read more

I really dig this place. A friend and I have gone a few times and I'm always satisfied. The server (I'm not sure of her name, but it's always the same one) is friendly and always just grumpy enough to be amusing. She keeps you posted on when you'll get taken care of and how many tables she has ahead of yours. Sometimes she makes snarky comments that have us cracking up. I love it! I have ordered several things here that I like. Most recently I had a tenderloin sandwich with waffle fries. Solid food that was delivered pretty swiftly. My friend usually orders breakfast because she loves it and says it gets cooked a bit faster. There are a lot of options here, and that always makes me feel a little bit overwhelmed when I first pick up the menu. Prices are great, though, and the food is more than worth what you pay. Plus it's in an area that's not exactly swimming in restaurants. It looks pretty unassuming from the outside (actually, I'd driven past it many times without realizing it was a restaurant), but it's comfortable inside. The Bev's Big Breakfast is huge, even without the add-on options. If you want something small, the breakfast egg sandwich on an english muffin is good. You might try swapping regular buttermilk pancakes for the whole wheat ones. The veggie omelet is even better if you ask for a side of salsa. My favorite part is the service. They will keep your coffee constantly full and hot. Update: After a dozen or so visits, I'm now a "regular." They bring my OJ and coffee without asking. The service is always good. Bev's is a great diner. Order from the specials menu, or ask server for recommendations. Pies are to die for. Meals with drink and dessert are about $13. Note that they are closed Saturday.
