I'm told this is one of the better places in town, and I believe it--it's solid new-American cafe fare. I wasn't expecting it to be a sit-down place given the cafe menu and hours, but it is, so prepare accordingly! Anyhow, the avocado toast was standard but well-prepared. Avocado was sliced rather than smashed, eggs cooked perfectly, but I thought it could've used some more seasoning of some sort. "Latke ball" sides were nice and hot--crispy on the outside, maybe creamer on the inside than I'd really like for a fried potato. read more

We LOVED going here for brunch. The menu is unique with a mix of breakfast classics. There were several things on the menu we were excited to try. The smoothie was the perfect consistency with no chunks! Very refreshing but also filling. The French toast was great if you like bread pudding! I am not typically a French toast lover but this was great. The chicken and waffles and burrito the others at the table also enjoyed. We love the cute atmosphere and the service was good! The only feedback I have is that it would be much better if the tea was fresh brewed. It tasted like it was from a machine which I really don't like for a little local breakfast/lunch spot. read more

We had a bigger party come in on a Saturday and had to wait awhile for a table, but the staff was super nice and kept us updated and it was well worth the wait! I loved the Terminal and Charlie's so I was looking forward to this. Super cute and eclecticly decorated spot right downtown Terre haute - felt like a fun college town breakfast. It's not in a stand alone building so you definitely need to look for the sign. The coffee and basic pastries counter is right when you walk in and I didn't try any but it did look good. We tried the potato latkes, avocado toast, and hangover breakfast sandwich. The potato cakes were like smashed hash browns - they were nice to share with the table and everyone enjoyed. The avocado toast came out looking like enough to feed 2 people - GIGANTIC. I loved the side salad that came with it and the arugula on top. Overall it was solid, plain avocado packed toast and I'd order it again! My only suggestion is to back off on the pickled red onions. I swear they may have given me the whole jar! The Hangover sandwich I had high hopes for, but the bagel needs to be toasted or different bread should be used. Everything inside it was delicious - the untoasted bread just didn't make any sense. We enjoyed lunch at Ladybird today. Given that we were at the Terminal Friday, you can go ahead and assume we are fans of the O'Laughlin family restaurants. Today we enjoyed a bit of everything and look forward to coming back for more. I started with a chai latte which was sweet, spicy, and frothy. We ordered potato latkes for a starter and to be honest the potatoes needed to be cooked just a bit longer, the flavor and plating were great, but the potatoes were a bit on the underdone side. The sriracha sauce on the table perked them up nicely. For meals we had the general tsos salad and sweet potato chorizo hash. The salad was good and the general tsos chicken even better. If they offered that sauce on wings or tenders, I'd probably order it! The potato hash was a big portion and easy to share. We enjoyed everything and plan to return to try other menu items, especially their cocktails, soon! This is an absolutely beautiful space to hang out and I hope they stick around. read more

A great place for Terre Haute to have with generally good food and pretty decor. Although, the manager Jess is very rude. When something was wrong with our meal, she responded abrasively and did not want to correct it. The waiters have been great. On two separate occasions, we saw two different employees crying and upset. Seems like a bad work environment. read more

Visited 07/15/25 This was my first time visiting this restaurant, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. We were greeted and seated promptly, and our server was friendly, though somewhat nervous. We were seated at a very small two-top table that shifted each time we moved, which was uncomfortable. We ordered drinks (a matcha and an iced latte) and an appetizer (Southern Comfort Latkes). After ten minutes, we placed our entrée order, still without having received our drinks or appetizer. Our entrees arrived and three minutes later along came with our drinks. The server mentioned that they couldn't locate the bartender, which they explain was the reason for the delay. I noticed that my matcha was watered down and lacked the flavor advertised. We still hadn't received our appetizer and inquired about it. The server admitted he may have forgotten to place the order and asked if we still wanted it; we confirmed, and he entered the order. Additionally, my friend ordered another drink but never received it. Our appetizer finally arrived almost as we were finishing our entrees.The server asked if we needed to-go boxes immediately after. I took a single bite of the Latkes and was extremely disappointed -- they were unseasoned, mushy, and lacked flavor. I waited for the server to return to express this, but when he finally came back, he presented the check before we could say anything. We had to ask him to remove the appetizer, as we barely had a bite and received it after our main courses. Throughout our visit, it seemed staff were more focused on a ribbon-cutting ceremony and taking pictures than on providing attentive service to customers. As someone who works in the food and service industry, I believe the restaurant would benefit greatly from improved staff training and better communication between the back of house and front of house teams. read more

We love lady bird! The vibes in here are great. We came for a girls brunch and we could talk here all day long. Here's what we ordered: Biscuit and bread basket- Awesome. Perfectly crispy and fluffy on the inside. Butter and jam were great as well. Breakfast burrito- Crispy on the outside and good flavor. The chorizo kind of took over so I couldn't quite taste all the other ingredients in the burrito, so you must like chorizo to like this burrito. Ricotta eggs- Very large portion. Eggs were very fluffy and the chili oil added a nice kick. Arugula was a little unnecessary. Avocado toast- Amazing. We try not to order this at restaurants because you can make it at home most of the time but this time it was totally worth it. The pickled onions and cheese added the perfect touch. French toast- Very sweet but delicious. I love bread pudding so this was a winner for me. Blue collar- Scrambled eggs, bacon, white toast. Basic but can't go wrong. Potato latke- Best thing I had. Basically a super elevated hash brown. Overall great experience. Could have tried everything on the menu so can't wait to come back. read more

Delicious Food, Excellent Service . Just Bring Earplugs I've had two very enjoyable experiences at Ladybird, and both times the food was absolutely on point. The dishes were flavorful, thoughtfully put together, and nicely presented. You can tell they use fresh, quality ingredients, the kind you can taste in every bite. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful. From the moment we walked in, we felt well taken care of. The restaurant itself was clean and well-maintained, which always adds confidence to the dining experience. The only real downside? The noise level. With all hard surfaces throughout the space, sound tends to bounce around and amplify, making conversations a bit difficult at times. It's not ideal if you're hoping for a quiet, intimate dinner, but if you can handle a little volume, the food and service more than make up for it. Bottom line: Ladybird delivers where it matters most, on the plate and through its people. Highly recommend. I'll definitely be back. read more

The 4 of us stopped by for breakfast on one of our trips. I had a bacon, sausage and egg sandwich, it was just ok, pretty dry. It came with greens with oily dressing on it that got all over the sandwich. One had biscuits & gravy and didn't care for it. One had the traditional breakfast. He got the sweet potato patties I forget what they were called and didn't like them at all. My husband got chicken & waffles. The waffles were cold so he asked them to warm them up, they came back and still weren't warm enough to melt the butter. He did say the chicken was pretty good but nothing we would come back for. read more

And we stood at the podium, waiting for somebody to even speak to us, we stood there several minutes a waitress smiled at us two ladies behind the counter just was making drinks for people and just standing there. This is the place to be for brunch in downtown Terre Haute. Located in the Hulman building, it is a space that has seen several restaurants come and go. It was almost impossible to converse with friends on the opposite side of the table because of the echoing noise but that is okay, I like a lively restaurant. The menu is upscale for Terre Haute, including the prices. There were seven of us for brunch, a mix of both breakfast and lunch items ordered and everyone was pleased. I craved a chicken salad sandwich, not adventurous but what I wanted. Meh, nothing special and the side of mixed greens was skimpy. Next time I'll try something exotic. read more

We were there at 8 am on Saturday. The atmosphere is fantastic and our waitress was great. My husband had the biscuits and gravy and a side of the latkes. He loved both of them. I had the ricotta eggs. I was told they we're out of the chili sauce they put on them which was a crucial ingredient but if I wanted to wait about 10 minutes someone would be back with the ingredient so I said I would wait. My meal was very bland. I asked if they did not use the chili sauce because it was bland and was told sorry they did not. I had said I would order something else if they didn't have it and wish they would have told me they weren't getting it. Other than my meal we liked everything and the people with us liked theirs very much. It is a little pricey but a neat place. read more
