Soooo....delightful. You can't tell from the outside but the owner has clearly made an effort for a warm and inviting atmosphere. The bar decor is beautiful and the servers are friendly and personable. From The Verve you can order pizza from Scouts next door. Highly recommended since if you go to Scouts first you can order drinks from the Verve but the menu is limited. Jace is a phenomenal bartender, she loves trying new and creative drinks, and she is so kind to her customers. The party does start to ramp up after 9pm so if you're a smaller casual kind of person, go earlier. read more

The first pizza I had here was 2 years ago and it was ..."mehhh" cold, over baked, skimpy on the toppings and it came from next door's Scout Pizza. It was at a political rally. I would not recommend The Verve to cater your event. They did a cash bar at my wedding but we gave bracelets to our wedding party so they did not have to pay, we would be given a tab to pay for their drinks after. During the event, the bartenders automatically started pouring doubles early on and charged us for them without being asked or having an agreement with us. There were also drinks on our tab that were unaccounted for. When I tried to discuss my concerns, the owner had me talk to a staff that worked the event. I had a difficult time getting ahold of him. When I was able to with him, I was only met with constant argument and judgement about my "drunk" guests. I tried to be civil and then tried to have a discussion with the owner. She called me and didn't even pause for a breathe while belittling me and didn't give me a chance to say a word. I appreciate business standing up for their employees but feel like the customer needs to at least be heard as well. I don't want to hurt small business but situations like this need to be put out there so potential future customers can be knowledgeable about what they are getting into. Thank you. read more

WOWZA! Came into town for my sisters graduation.. waited 20 minutes for a drink at the bar and finally the bartender with a brown ponytail came up to me after ignoring us for SO long. I told him what I wanted and then turned around to my sisters boyfriend right behind me to find out what he wanted (since we had waited so long so I figured, I'd get his too..) I was told by a the pony tail bartender that I took too long (literally turned around for 2 seconds after paying $10 each to wait 20 minutes for a drink). He then proceeded to only serve the guys around us. When he finally looked at my sister a few minutes later, she told him the drink that she wanted and then asked about the margarita deal tonight. Apparently that was too much work... so he moved on to a different person? She rightfully so asked "what the hell" as he continued to only serve the men at the bar and called him out for it. He did not deny only serving men, and said if she didn't like it to "go somewhere else". At that point, her and her boyfriend went to the other end of the bar to get a new bartender. After she did, the same bartender standing right infront of me proceeded to laugh in her direction with another man at the bar, and out loud refer to her as "that little b***h" while I was standing RIGHT there. At this point I had had MORE than enough with the white male entitlement bs? looked him in the eyes, and gave him the bird (I fully understand this is not the best response and I should be the bigger person but I'm honestly over it, so I'm sorry but I'm not sorry....) After giving the finger, I did not engage in further words or actions, and immediately walked to the other end of the bar where my sister and her boyfriend were standing. If he can call her a "b***c I surely have the right to flip him off in response??? Apparently not according to The Verve. Only male employees may offend female customers. That's it. The bartender followed me to the other end of the bar and began yelling at me (no clue what, I assume something very arrogant and ignorant??). My sisters boyfriend stepped in front of me (with the bar between the boys) to get him away from me. He then leaned further over the bar trying to get into my sisters boyfriends' face as bf was telling him to just walk away. Another bartender in a bandana also stepped in (whom has been an absolute creep to girls in the past, according to all the girls graduating this weekend) was asking my sisters boyfriend (who literally had nothing to do with it, he was standing behind us at the bar) to "meet out back". We were then told to leave by security after literally being followed and antagonized BY THE BARTENDERS. When we asked why we were getting kicked out the girl literally said "I was on your side until you flipped him off, but I can't defend that". When I asked why it was okay for him to call us a bitch and try to fight us, but not for us to give the bird in response, she just got quiet and escorted us out. We asked for a refund of our $10 covers since we were literally never even able to get a drink in the 40 minutes we were there, treated like trash for.. being women...? And we were told "they don't have the power to do that". Seemed as if everyone there new the bartender was wrong but in classic fashion, defended him rather than the girls I would have rather flushed $30 down the toilet than paid that in cover fees for this small, crowded, hot, awful bar. Also, as someone from chicago who frequents ALL kinds of bars ALL the time and pays wayyy too much money to do so... I have never paid a cover fee for a bar this small and this terrible of service IN MY LIFE. Do youself a favor and just go somewhere else. Or just skip the bar altogether. Just don't give your money to this place I will not be back and if I do, it will solely be to ensure the managers understand how misogynistic and arrogant their bartenders are. And if they are actually okay with that.. even bigger red flag. Dear bartender with the pony tail and bartender with the bandana... as a mental health professional it is very apparent that you are overcompensating for a lack of masculinity in the way you disrespect women and think its... funny/acceptable...? Drinks and entertainment what more could you ask for? This place has a warm inviting atmosphere with tons of great drink specials and most nights some form of entertainment from live music to pool. Bands, DJ's and Karaoke make for some good tunes while enjoying your style of beverage from cheap and simple to the more elaborate mixology in some of the Verve's signature drinks. Just be sure you have a hearty meal before coming here because there is not kitchen. read more

My wife and I were pulled into Terre Haute last night and everything was closed, this place was open! We stopped and had a pizza at Scouts pizzeria and I was pleasantly surprised. Was in town for work and staying at a hotel across the street, heard a band playing through an open door and decided to walk over and check it out. Found a very nice music venue with some excellent drinks. The bar staff were very conversational and made several suggestions, all of which I enjoyed. Specifically I had the Scouts Honor, I Know the Owner and the Off the Hook. All were delicious and off course came with the benefit of college town prices. I cant say I'll be in Terre Haute again, but if I am i'll definitely run through Verve. read more

The Verve is a cool local bar/music venue with a unique atmosphere. The front entrance to the building is really inviting and has a well rounded bar menu. Anyone who is visiting Terradise, Terradactle, or Terranova(Terre Haute puns) would be advised to enjoy this great local establishment. The Verve is one of the best nightclubs in Terre Haute. They have a well stocked liquor assortment, which includes many "premium" brands of single malt scotch, tequilas, whiskies, vodkas, etc. in addition to reasonable "well" brands. A half dozen brews on tap, backed up by a large assortment of bottled products (domestic, imported, and microbrews. The lighting is just a bit on the dark side for some people, but lends itself to a more intimate setting. The seating is cozy and close. There is a combination of your basic round tables with chairs, high chairs at the bar, and custom made semi-circular booths made with a comfortable padded material, as well as a couple of genuine couches. The Verve permits smoking, but more importantly to me - - is a cigar friendly bar - - even offering to "some" cigar patrons the use of custom cigar ashtrays. The staff working behind the bar is very friendly and knowledgeable mix masters and often lend to making an evening much more enjoyable. But what sets The Verve apart from many other places in town, is the variety of live music they feature during the week and not just the weekends. The live bands there can range from accoustic, to garage grundge, to straight out rock, cover bands, blues, and borderline jazz/blues. Many of the artists performing there are showcasing their own compositions. The Verve also hosts an annual music festival taking up about a block and a half of downtown Terre Haute (in front of The Verve) called "Blues At The Crossroads." This is a two day event celebrating its' 8th year of music, food and beverages,while dancing in the street at the intersection of old US 41 and old US 41 - historically recognized as "The Crossroads of America"! read more

While visiting, I ended up coming here with my two friends based on previous experiences they've had. They have a cute little set up outside for smokers, but if you aren't a smoker, you'll have to fight your way in through the smoke. They all crowd around the tables and doors which makes it hard to make it in without passing through the smoke. Inside is very spacious and it has a very nightclub vibe. We went on a Thursday night around 8 PM and it was dead. My friends saw a few friends they knew, but it definitely wasn't popping just yet. The bartender was making the (did I mention $1 Wells?) drinks tasty and strong. Exactly how it should be, even if they are only a dollar. He was very attentive and made sure that we always had a refill when needed. Overall, the Verve was a pretty chill place to drink and listen to some music. I wish it would have been a little bit busier, but I guess I'll just have to wait until next time I visit to see if this place really holds up to the 4 and 5-star reviews. This was my first time in Terre Haute and I've heard spectacular things about the Verve. Unfortunately, we got the world's slowest bartender who didn't even know what Prosecco was. I first asked for a Prosecco drink with something special and he slapped his head stating "I don't know". I then said, ok, how about just Prosecco and he asked, what that was, while then thumbing through all of the bottles of wine.....primarily outside of the refrigerator... I finally settled on one of their signature cocktails "the trail blazer", thinking that I would be safe in ordering, considering the ingredients were listed on the giant board above the bar; however, the bartender got out his "cheat sheet" and took roughly 15-20 minutes to make my drink, while also stating that he knows bartenders who have worked for years and still use the cheat sheet. Luckily I wasn't on a tight schedule and there were only three other people in the bar. I got my drink, it was a drink and I drank it in 1/3 of the time that it took for the bartender to actually make it. My advice is that this bartender needs A LOT more hours behind the bar and glad that this guy was working on a Monday afternoon. read more

The Verve was amazing! Great customer service and very friendly bartenders. I was welcomed in with a big smile and hello and every patron in there had a smile on their face. The live music was great, and the crowd overall had a good vibe. They have house cocktails that are DELICIOUS, I would recommend the "Honey I'm Home" but there is something for everyone. The bar itself was very clean all the way down to the bathrooms, Which I was not expecting for such a high volume bar. If you're in the area I would definitely recommend stopping in here for a drink and maybe a few apps! read more

I love The Verve!!! The atmosphere is electric ! The different entertainment they offer daily keeps you coming back night after night! I really enjoy Open Mike on Mondays! So much local talent is shown off here!! Then there is Sunday Karaoke ! This place has the best sound in the area. Tell Bracken hello when you request your karaoke favorite with him! DOWNTOWN TERRE HAUTE'S BEST.... BUT THERE'S REALLY NO COMPETITION The Verve is probably the best late night place in downtown Terre Haute... but of course, there's really little competition. Northeast of DT is 7th and Elm and there are some chains on the southside near I-70. DT's nighlife is hit-and-miss, so if you're staying in a hotel, I'd head or stay south near the mall and interstate area. Ask some locals for specific nights and promotions. If you want a LOUD live band, The Verve is likely your best bet. Give 'em a call or check out their Facebook page and see what's happening. read more
