    Steak Stir Fry
    Abigail W.

We enjoyed the steak stir fry and the Frisco sandwich. The Frisco wasn't traditional however, and they only bring you thousand island dressing on a patty melt with lettuce and tomato. We spent $22 on both meals, one of which included fries and one a salad. The restaurant is clean and the waitresses are very friendly. They seemed to really enjoy their customers especially the regulars, and had a steady stream of customers in and out as we sat there. We will come back!

What a nice out of the way diner to eat dinner while on the road. Friendly staff from the time I walked in to check out. I got pork chops and it can with green beans and potatoes and soup. The chicken dumplings soup was full of flavor and great for a rainy night. The pork chops were tasty and juicy. Overall a great meal and a diner I will return too again.

Nice little diner in Terre Haute. Had breakfast here 3/4 times. Always good standard diner food. Biscuits and gravy are good. And they have a great omelette selection. Good prices and large portions as well.

Great food at good prices. Very prompt service with friendly wait staff. Every waitress filled empty coffee cups! Hubble had .eat lovers omelette and couldn't eat it all! Would definitely come back.

Amazing food and super friendly waitstaff. I don't think I've ever had anything that I didn't enjoy here.

Don't let my 2 discourage you from stopping by, I mean that! Life is about managing expectations. For purposes of looking at this old church, the beautiful stained glass and the organ, absolutely pop in to take in the beauty of this old building. Just know what this place is and know what it is not. I stopped by during "library hours" from 10AM-4PM with to check this place out, read my book and grab coffee. During this time, the coffee is self serve, in urns, probably sitting there for some time, not hot and pretty bad. Powdered creamer is available. I made a donation of $2, got my bad coffee and sat in the open, quiet space of the Meeting Grounds for about an hour reading my book. So despite being dissatisfied with the coffee, my mission was accomplished. When I was there, there were three older men who were having a Bible study discussion and there were two guys who must live in the area who stopped in to grab coffee and then promptly left. I felt comfortable being there, taking some photos, minding my business, doing my thing, despite the kind of odd surroundings. The room is big and this would be a perfect little spot for a group to meet or book club to gather. They have snacks and other simple coffee drinks, but those are available for sale during the non-library hours I believe. The Meeting Grounds itself is open to the public from 8AM-8PM, according to the sign at the door. The church itself seems part hippie revival/part lazily renovated/part historically cool. It is an interesting old space.

It's dated in the best possible way: dim lighting, worn-in character, familiar faces, and that unmistakable local hangout atmosphere where regulars clearly outnumber first-timers. The highlight here is the Tweety Burger, and honestly, that's the reason to come. It reminded me immediately of the classic Midwest style you'd find at places like Minor-Dunn in Highland, Indiana. The patty is smashed thin and cooked flat on the grill, giving it those crispy edges and deep, savory flavor you only get from a well-seasoned griddle that's seen years of use. It tastes homemade--not engineered, not trendy, just a straightforward burger done right. You can tell they take their time with the food. Nothing feels rushed or mass-produced. The burger comes out hot, flavorful, and satisfying without trying to be gourmet or overcomplicated. No towering Instagram presentation--just a solid, honest burger that delivers exactly what you want from a local pub. Service matched the vibe perfectly. The staff were personable, welcoming, and genuinely friendly in that small-town way that makes you feel less like a customer and more like a guest stopping by a neighborhood spot. Charlie's isn't flashy. It's not modern. And if you're looking for upscale dining or trendy décor, this isn't the place. But if you want an authentic mom-and-pop tavern experience with a burger that locals clearly treat as a tradition, it's worth the stop. Best advice: stick with the Tweety Burger. Don't overthink the menu. Order it, enjoy the atmosphere, and experience a piece of local Terre Haute character. Not a destination restaurant--but absolutely a solid local classic you should try at least once.
