My first time here & it was pretty good! When we walked in you're greeted with live lobsters. Kind of sad but oh well. We waited awhile to be seated even though it was not that busy. We had a terrible experience with our server Sydney F at the Salem OR restaurant this evening. From the beginning she was very inattentive and had a poor attitude. It took about 15 minutes after we were seated for her to take our drink order. When the drinks came she forgot straws and said she would be right back with them. 15 minutes later she brought the straws and then left again before taking our order. Two other tables were seated in our section had their drinks and food brought to the tables before we ever even got our food orders in. When the food arrived our daughter's meal was completely wrong. We had ordered grilled shrimp and orange slices. She brought popcorn shrimp and fries. My fiancé ordered loaded mashed potatoes as a side which is an additional charge. She received plain potatoes. When we pointed out the mistakes Sydney seemed annoyed but said she would fix it. It took about 20 minutes for the correct food to arrive. When we asked for drink refills she rolled her eyes and then brought a refill for only one person at the table. When we asked for refills for everyone she stormed off and didn't come back for about 30 minutes. I had ordered the endless shrimp meal. When she finally came back with the drink refills I asked to place a shrimp refill. 40 minutes later my shrimp refill still had not arrived. I found her and asked if the refill order was placed. She gave me a snarky reply saying " Yes your refill is ordered behind every other person in this restaurant and it will be here when it is ready". I thought this was a pretty rude reply. By now we had been at the restaurant much longer than we had planned on. When she brought the shrimp refill she asked if I would like another. I told her no we don't have another 40 minutes to wait for more shrimp. I asked if we could have to go boxes for the rest of our kids food. She told me she would bring to go boxes only once my refill order had been consumed. I thought this was very unusual and rude. Our son requested a refill of cheddar biscuits during the meal and she tried to charge us for a to go order of biscuits. When we finally tried to leave our payment kiosk wasn't working. We tried to find her so we could check out but she had disappeared again. I had to go to the kitchen and ask to be checked out. They sent Sydney out with a payment slip for me to sign. She hovered over me while filling it out. Due to the poor service I did not leave a large tip. She stopped me on my way out of the restaurant and asked what my problem with her service was. I pointed out the issues we had she tried to blame the kitchen staff and said the restaurant was very busy. I told here the restaurant is not busy. She told me to go take a look at the other side of the building. I told her she seemed to have a poor attitude about the situation and turned to leave. Then in front of several other customers and staff yelled to me "If you can't afford it you shouldn't eat here!" I was shocked to hear this and turned around and said "I heard that and you had better believe there will be a complaint filed against you". On the way out I asked to speak to the manager. I explained all the issues including Sydney's rude comment as I was leaving. She seemed surprised and asked me to file a complaint with corporate. I sincerely hope Sydney F's employment will be terminated. There is no reason to have an individual on staff that treats customers like this. We frequently go to this restaurant and have never had an experience like this. We were here last night for dinner. I had fish and chips. The fish was really dry. My husband had the Bar Harbor Lobster Bake. The lobster was dry, the noodles had no flavor. The entire entree had no flavor. We were disappointed for the price we paid for it which was over $30! The entire meal tasted like it was microwaved. Did not taste fresh. We went yesterday (9/13) about 430pm. I'm giving this visit a 3*. We were seated and our server was Roxanne. She brought us menus and asked us what we wanted to drink. My BF asked for a Sprite and I asked for a water. She repeated our Sprite and water order back but yet she brought us 2 waters and said she would give us a few minutes to decide on what we were ordering. (1st Mistake. I asked for the Honey Sriracha and he asked for more Scampi. Once the food showed up I asked about the coconut shrimp. She sid advise the have it and wanted to get some. I advised not now I was good but didnt ask if my BF wanted more shrimp. She finally came back and he was able to order more shrimp. I asked for 1 refill of scampi because I was starting to get full. She brought us our food and refilled my BFs Sprite. Roxanne went by our table table 2 - 3 more times didnt check on us. She seemed to check on other tables more often than us. No refill of biscuits. Ever. Only got the 1 basket in the beginning. I asked for a box after i ordered a shrimp linguini. My BF said he watched her walk from the kitchen with 2 baskets of biscuits a d out to go box. Drop the box off and that's when we decided to leave. My BF wanted more food but she didnt seem to care to order is more food. My BF paid the bill and I boxed up my food. While I took the survey thing and stated on it we were not happy, my bf went to use the bathroom and our regular waiter asked how was everything, He told Azael about what happen and the came back to the table. Shortly before we left the service manager David came up and talked to us about how our service went. We told him everything that happen. We did advise him that Jordan awesome food runner. Very nice and polite. She asked to take our empty dishes after she brought us our refill orders. We asked to tip her directly. David allowed us to. David made it right and provided us our next meal to be on them to apologized for the service experience we had. He said he felt embarrassed about it and said he sees us in there alot and hopes we will come back. We received a Red Lobster coupon from Coupongreat. It was for Tuesday 1lb buttered Snow Crab over fried potatoes for $20.00. We showed the nice waitress the coupon and ordered from there. We were somewhat disappointed. the crab was good but the fried potatoes were bathing in standing butter. Don't get me wrong, we love butter, but this was over the top and a couple notches down from potato and butter soup. After dinner, we got the bill and the coupon price was nowhere to be seen. I asked the waitress if we can get the coupon price. she told me the coupon was good in all the other states but Oregon. I was baffled because nowhere on the coupon did it say anything about void in Oregon. And she certainly didn't say anything when we showed her the coupon. Best dinner we had in years! We did not realize it was graduation day for a few of the high schools in our town. We went to multiple restaurants with a line out the door. We settled on Red Lobster hoping we could get in as they were closing in an hour. There were a couple groups before us when we arrived and the staff said it could be a twenty minute wait. We ask if that would be an issue since they were closing in an hour. Staff reassured us it was no problem and we would be seated soon. Just as they said we were sat shortly. Manager and staff continued to apologize for the wait, at which I would think we were the ones in the wrong knowing they close in an hour. Four words. Red Lobster. Endless Shrimp. 'Nuff said (okay, that's six, sorry). To preface my review, I wanted to mention that I love the variety that Red Lobster has in their menu. They have fresh seafood of many different varieties, with lots of different options to try in combos and various preparations. Even though I only ever order shrimp, I'm always amazed by how many choices they have, from scallops to shrimp to lobster to clams to surf and turf...well, you get the picture. My husband, mom, and I went for Endless Shrimp this year and we weren't disappointed. We arrived around 11:40 on the first day of ES, just before lunch. There were a couple of things that could have been better, but these did not prevent me from giving five stars. The not so great: The front reception area was empty when we arrived, presumably because the hostess was busy showing the elderly couple that arrived just before us to their table. That was fine - we wanted bar seating anyway. The bartender was very busy between refilling the ice containers, prep and set up, to providing service to us, but she still did a great job and was very attentive. Fiesta shrimp - just NO. When I saw this on the menu, I had visions of grilled shrimp skewers with some chipotle or other mexican or spanish type seasoning/sauce or tomatoes/onions. Thankfully, I didn't order these but my husband did. The reality was breaded and fried shrimp with nacho cheese sauce. To confuse things even more, the first order of this my husband placed came with just the cheese sauce; the second order came with both the cheese and pico de gallo on top. Either way, I would imagine the cheese sauce overwhelmed the taste of the shrimp. I wouldn't know - I don't normally like cheese, but just the smell of the dish was overwhelming to me. The awesome: After things picked up, our server was on the ball with refills. The pace of the meal was good. As soon as we'd finished/almost finished with one item, others were coming out of the kitchen, from the cheddar bay biscuits, to salad, to main courses, to refills. Besides the fiesta shrimp, all of the other shrimp varieties were on point. The hand-breaded and garlic shrimp scampi are always amazing. Everything was hot and freshly prepared. The price was great for the amount of food we had. This is one of the better Red Lobsters I've been to and we always try to visit when we're in Salem. It's located pretty conveniently to where we always stay (much more conveniently located than our local Red Lobster) and so we'll definitely be back. read more

This is an update from my 4 star review within the same month and more closely aligns with many other reviews. I didn't try the bathrooms but can report that the mashed potatoes were soup. My criteria are heavy on the ability of a place to keep the bathrooms clean and figure out how to make potatoes--well, keeping the hair out of the food is pretty important too. This visit was much less than I expected and will probably not come back for a while. We were celebrating and the food for the person we were respecting came out 10 minutes or so after the rest of us had our meals. I can't tell if my food was served hot because seafood cools pretty quickly and it was kinda warm when I dug in--the butter was thickening up by then. . . My food looked and tasted good and it was plated nicely. But 2 out of 4 of us got a black hair and combined with the inability to bring out all entrees at once, a bowl of mashed potato soup (instead of just mashed potatoes) and a service that felt more like a diner than a Red Lobster priced experience--our server was available, but not particularly available and it was not busy--I now prefer Denny's to Red Lobster. I gave it a 2 star because it wasn't horrible, just remarkable in terms of convencing me to not be back for a while. read more

Booo! I went to Red Lobster partly out of some sort of sentimental drive in that my father really enjoyed Red Lobster while he was alive. I was looking only for some good fish and chips and a pleasant dining experience, both of which I can recall in the past (I have not been for several years). When I arrived I had high hopes, the parking lot was only half full and there was no line (as there had been on other visits). I was greeted by a surly host, who immediately told me that my "large" party (three adults, two children) would not be seated for "at least" an hour. I immediately sized up the situation. There were 5 empty tables that would easily accommodate my "large" party, in view of the door. When I asked about one of those I was informed that my "large" party could not be accommodated for "at least" an hour. (I heard that the first time.) Two employees were milling around in the background not really doing much and the person to whom I was speaking was being more and more terse. Ok, so that's it. I decided rather than get angry I'd leave. I let the front desk surly bird know that I thought the excessive amount of time was unreasonable given the observable resources to seat and serve a family of five. I received a dismissive shrug and the person turned to do other things. Sorry Red Lobster, I'll spend my money elsewhere, friends, you should too. read more

With the lack of relatively good seafood options in Salem, many folks are subject to places like Red Lobster or McGrath's. This Red Lobster is not terrible but its not great as the prices can get spendy and the food is subpar at best. The location along the busy Lancaster Drive is nice, however with a smaller parking lot it can get pretty packed. I thought their stuffed lobster was okay, but for $25 I could do better at a local seafood joint that took pride in making this stuff rather than a place that cranks it out by the dozen. Service was so-so, but the waiter I had was very spacey and had to come back to clarify our order several times. The rest of the wait staff was a little disorganized but I suppose I would rather have takeout here above all else. read more

We are so disappointed in the service we received today from this Red Lobster. We were seated at 11:20am, and it was a few moments before our server David greeted us. By this point we had enough time to look at the menu and we knew what we wanted. Which looking back, this may be what put David in a bad mood if he wasn't already in one. When I asked him for a strawberry lemonade, he very condescendingly informed me "Just so you know, it's a 20oz drink and it is not refillable." Okay, I understand that and I didn't need the snarky heads up. He brought us drinks and informed us they were still working on the biscuits. No problem! He comes back at 11:44 with our biscuits/plates in one hand and a tray for the other table in his other hand. He throws the biscuits down on the table, the plates hit down hard. Other people in the sitting area all turned to stare at what happened, while he says "here" and turns around to serve his other booth. My mom said something about how he didn't have to slam them down, and he says it wasn't intentional but based on his attitude that is very difficult to believe. He was very dismissive of us from the beginning and just didn't really seem to want to be there. I got up to go to the front and ask for a manager. JT comes out in a chef jacket, and I tell him what happened. He seemed apologetic, and that made up a little for our poor service. When I go back to sit down, my mom was in tears and I asked her if she just wanted to go. She was embarrassed by the attention she received from the rest of the sitting patrons and lack of from our server. As we were leaving a different man caught up with us by the door, who claimed HE was the manager. We're still confused about it. But due to the lack of consistency and professionalism, we will not be back to this location and we will reach out to a higher level of authority. What an embarrassing experience. We don't go out that often, but when we do we love Red Lobster. I don't know why they allow their staff to treat paying customers this way. We weren't entitled. We weren't rude. We've been a frequent flyer at this location but last nights experience changed my mind. Estimation of time for online order was 19 minutes. Submitted order and confirmation screens pickup time was 50 minutes away, not 19. I sat in curbside pickup for 15 additional minutes past the 50 min time my order was supposed to be ready. Still understanding and would have been okay until I got home and half the ingredients were missing. Will not be going back! Comical part is reported my experience on website and have heard nothing in response. It has been quite a while since I have eaten at a Red Lobster. My meal was delicious. The biscuits are always good. The fish and shrimp were perfect. I had the special vegetable, Brussels sprouts. I have spent a lot of money at this place and last night I was yet again disappointed. I ordered my food on the phone ahead of time. The check was just over 80.00$ and for a pick up, on a very slow night, I don't think I was asking too much. When I came to pick it up, I got there 15 mins before it was supposed to be ready. (815) they closed at 9 and I felt that was more than enough time for me to sit and order a drink at the bar, eat a few biscuits and wait for my food to be ready. I get there and I'm sort of dismissed initially. Then, after waiting and waiting the guy comes up to me, assuming I'm the next and only Togo order and tells me the total and says the foods almost ready. He looked like I shot his puppy when I asked for a water and some bread. I paid for the food, tipping him $20. After that he was nicer, although he didn't help me much. I asked for fresh bread. I don't know what is wrong with this place but, anytime I ask for "fresh" bread, regardless the time of day-they ALWAYS BRING OUT old bread. I can tell the difference. I even tell them I will wait for it to come out. They still bring old, cold, bread. This time was no exception, he brought me cold bread. I asked for more when I ate it and none came. My food was ready by now, but I still needed to sit and unwind for a second. I asked for the bread again, a fourth time, at 830. I was told it will be 25 mins until it's ready. I said that I knew that wasn't true but that I would wait. This bartender walked by, I asked her for a refill on my water. When she poured me more, she poured LESS THAN half a glass! THAT TO ME SAYS "get out". The female bartender was rude and uncomfortable to be around. Her name was Jenna. I've been served by her before. She is always rude, mean, and acts like she is the ish. She returned with my bread 15 mins later. My half water now drunk, she set the bread down in such a way-with her arm and hand touching the napkin, smashing my bread onto the table in front of me. It was in a Togo bag. I never said I was leaving. They should have brought it in the basket. They were basically rushing me out the door. And this was after I left the $20 tip on a takeout order. Like really? From the rude service, to the cold bread-I won't be wasting my money on this establishment anymore. Neither should any of you. read more

Have had terrible service from this location more often than not. I had fish and chips delivered twice. The first time, they didn't include the tartar sauce. The second time, they also didn't include the tartar sauce despite the fact that I put it in the notes to include extra. They did include extra salt, even though I'd written NO SALT in capital letters. The second time the cole slaw had no dressing on it, it was just plain, slightly wet cabbage. But that time there was at least enough of it, whereas the usual was to barely get three bites. So I guess that was a trade-off. The food itself is usually fairly okay, nothing spectacular, but good for a chain. Their tartar sauce doesn't taste like normal tartar sauce. I have decided to find a new place for fish and chips. I'm not gonna lie, I haven't loved Red Lobster since moving from Washington. It's amazing there. That being said, I think we had the BEST seafood dinner I've had in some time. It was pricey but worth the $$. The service was prompt and very friendly. The food was served I. Good time between courses. It was hot and not over cooked. Which is easy to do and most frequently the issue. The "special" drink they have that you get to keep the glass with was really tasty and strong enough that you don't want to have to many. My first time here with my family a few Sundays back was amazing. I ordered this mixed seafood bowl that was on top of a garlic linguine that was to die for. It was a good sized portion and amazing. Was served with a ceaser salad and lime. Oh, and their buiscuits u heard sonmuch aboit were TO DIE FOR! You have ti try then! Never,Ever, Ever in this lifetime ever, put your Credit Card # into Red Lobsters website to place an order...don't do it. We placed an order online and the website said the zip didn't match and the card was declined. So, I put the zip in again and again it was declined. So, I called the Red Lobster close to us and placed the order. It was a local phone number. So the woman takes our order runs my card and says it's declined because of the zip code. I have had this account I use for 20+ years. Just pay when you come in she says. I get ready to leave and I see 4 emails pop up on my computer telling me RL hit me up for 4 charges on my card...all from RL. We ordered $45 worth of food and RL tagged my card for over $120.00. I go to the restaurant show the receipts to the manager and he says,"Really nothing we can do about it". Contact your CC company. Then he says....You can't have your food unless you pay the $45.00....after they already got $120 from me. I told the guy he lost his mind. So, I left with NO food and I didn't get my charges credited back to my card. And the woman I spoke on the phone....he tells me she may have been GA, FL, he doesn't know, because its not really RL you're talking to, it's some 3rd party that obviously don't know what the hell they are doing. Oh....and the web site....The Mgr tells me there is a disclaimer there that says if there issues with what you were charged, RL is not liable for those. Why you might ask? Because they use a 3rd party for that also. People in the restaurant knew that this guy (me) was pissed. Me who hardly ever raises his voice. We've been to McGraths and loved it but thought we would try Red Lobster since neither of us have been to one for years. We were seated as soon as we walked in, the place was busy but not packed. Our server, and I regret that I don't remember her name was Top Notch! She asked what had brought us in, and we told her. Sure, a nice touch. I have eaten lobster in many top restaurants in the country from Florida, to Maine to Oregon and this was perfectly cooked. So tender! The steaks were exactly how we ordered them. Well, that was an enlightening experience, that is for sure. It has been forever since I have eaten in an America chain restaurant. This was a fresh look at what the corporate world thinks we all should want to eat. We must all agree, because this evening, the place was packed ! I can say that for the most part, the restaurant was attractive and the ambiance was very pleasant. Nice decor, hip-ish music, very well run, with nice people working there. My server Daniel was just super, really super. Very dim lights throughout the place. BTW, I now know that the dimmer the lights are in a restaurant, the higher the prices. Consequently, most of the restaurants I dine at are very well lit. The food was....how shall I put this? Perhaps an analogy would best describe it: You know how Starbucks takes basically a 50 cent cup of coffee, dresses it up a bit, and gets people to spend 4 bucks for it? You've got it. I think that is what it going on here (and in many other aspects of American culture). Take something mediocre to average, dress it up, and allow the public to perceive it is something special. This was my first time back since the recent renovations, and I was very underwhelmed. I'm not sure what they were trying to accomplish by slapping on a nice, polished decor to the same old problems. Our party of three arrived around Noon on a typical weekday. It was a little more crowded than I would have expected, but we were seated immediately. That was the only thing that happened with any sort of efficiency for the duration of the meal. The waiter was nice enough, but must have been very new. Our drink orders, consisting of a water, a strawberry lemonade, and a margarita took about 10 minutes to arrive. Some time after that our biscuits finally made an appearance, and felt as if they had been left out on a counter for an hour. Since I actually like the cheddar biscuits, this was disappointing. We had ordered the Lobster and Crab stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer, and other than the terribly long wait (going on 25 minutes at this point), they weren't bad at all. My mother and I split the order of 6 it came with and were satisfied. The next wait for our clam chowder cups brought down whatever little credit the mushrooms had managed to redeem for the lunch. By the time or main courses finally arrived, we were all bored to tears and ready to eat. None of the three dishes were horrible, but neither were they very good. My Cajun trout was alright, but the heaping helping of plain old broccoli was pretty bland. My sister's bowl of chowder was lackluster as well, but she ate it. The baked Sole my mother had ordered was absolutely tasteless, and she had to ask for a small side of tartar sauce. This made it palatable enough for her to finish. I've never been a huge fan of Red Lobster in the first place, but this pretty much solidifies my feelings. Doubtful I will ever return to this location at very least. read more

My steak was overcooked and my potatoes were cold in five minutes. Our waitress never came back and asked if we wanted or needed anything else--we did. We told her we were celebrating a new job and she didn't congratulate me but rather started talking about her job. I never got a refill on the strawberry lemonade that didn't come until after my soup. For over 50.00 I wont go back. Oh and not found of the receipt telling me how much tip. Second trip 10/9/2015 . Friday night after 7 is the time to come for sure. No wait. Service was fantastic. From the door girl to the bus people everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Waitress Nikki was the best! As for the food, it was very tasty but I do agree with other reviews in that it's pretty overpriced even though you expect to pay more for fish. We had a gift card for $50 and for 2 of us, we're handed a ticket for $70. Yes it included an appy, 1 dessert, 1 beer and 1 wine but that's still a lot. Thank goodness for the gift. We would not have paid that much of our own money for such a meal, but had a good time nonetheless. read more

It was 10 o'clock in the evening and we were just getting around to dinner. There are not many options for being open this late in the area, even on a Saturday night. We saw they were open till 11 and popped in. I will preface this review in that I am really not a fan of chain restaurants. But we were limited. We were enthusiastically greeted by the hostess when we walked in. We were seated and our waitress promptly greeted us. (Now, if you read my review for Original Roadhouse, which I had dined at for lunch that day, you would see how opposite I must be feeling by now.) This waitress provided over-the-top service. She was top-notch. My husband even made the remark that her service was beyond some of the more expensive/upscale places we have dined at of the late. While the food was just on par with this type of establishment, nothing stood out as we would have not expected it to. It was a nice evening and as always, the cheddar biscuits were delicious. read more
