My family went out to celebrate my parent's 25 year wedding anniversary and had a terrible experience. While the beverages were decent, it all went downhill when our food arrived when my father received the wrong side and my mom's filet mignon was overcooked and well done when medium rare was requested. When my mom notified the server, the server got defensive and told her that the restaurant was very busy, even though most of the tables were empty, and 'how would she know it was over cooked'. Soon after, the manager attempted to apologize by removing the filet mignon and one of our drinks from the bill and by replacing her filet mignon. Even then, the new filet mignon was somehow undercooked in the center while overcooked on the outside and as a result, they had to take it back and we left disappointed with our experience. Never have I ever been disappointed by such a restaurant and honestly, I wish I could give this review zero stars. read more

First off this red lobster use to be very nice. The decor was great and it was a NICE restaurant. But it was unfortunately went way down hill. It's dirty and the lights in the booths are just gross. We went there tonight and I had the trout and rice with my daughter and we both got SICK!!! I should have listened to my husband and went to 5 guys. I use to love red lobster we came here a lot. Excellent! It's highly unusual that I can order a filet mignon medium rare and it comes out... medium rare! Hats off to Red Lobster! Most steakhouses NEVER get it right the first time and it usually takes 3 or 4 times and I end up getting a free meal. Or I end up just eating sides. The scallops were delicious along with the salad and desert. It's better than I remember from years ago when my parents to us kids in the 70's. It was just by chance we actually got to go to the restaurant as the lines had not started yet. So wrong that I haven't been to a Red Lobster since I was 29!!! I hate giving bad ratings, but the food was such a disappointment. We've been to this location before and have had a lovely time, which is why I'm not giving it just one star. This time, however, the biscuits had obviously been sitting out for a while--they were hard and chewy, not the melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness I've come to expect from Red Lobsters biscuits (the main reason to come here, really). My husband ordered the lobster bisque and he stated that it was lukewarm, floury, and had no actual lobster in it. If they were running out, we'd rather they had just told us. As for my meal, I bit into a shrimp that had clearly been overlooked--worse, it tasted burnt. A bright spot was our waitress. She did a great job checking on us and replaced my shrimp pasta quickly, with a much better version. read more

I asked if it would be possible to get pasta with marinara sauce, and that wasn't even available. Have dined at Red Lobster Mankato approximately 15 times over the last 5 years. Here's my assessment: PROS: Consistently excellent food. One of my favs is the stuffed flounder - good ol' classic white fish with crab stuffing, always good, every time. Also love: fried shrimp, grilled shrimp and scallops are tasty and well prepared. Have recently tried the fairly new lobster bisque and this is done well but is heavy, but lobster bisque is usually heavy. Salads are timely and served well before the entree which is important. Timing of the serving is good, have never felt rushed. My husband is a huge salmon lover and he says the Salmon New Orleans is the best in town. The only appetizer we've tried is the calamari and its delicious but beware of a rather large portion - this is not a criticism. CONS: The BAR - the Mankato Red Lobster was just renovated, we had SO hoped this would include an overhaul of the interior design to open up the bar. We were so disappointed to find its still a tiny, uninviting bar closed off and stuck in the middle of the restaurant. We enjoy sitting at bars and often eat at them - not so here. This is unclassy and my largest criticism. Next con is food presentation - consistently underwhelming, small pieces of fish with a glob of mashed potatoes on a huge white plate - quite off-putting. Recommend a higher priority placed on food presentation, makes me feel like I'm eating at Perkins but paying Red Lobster prices. SERVICE: Always excellent, prompt, friendly, professional. BUILDING: Always clean, smells great, nice large seating area for people waiting, would have been better to make the bar LARGER for people waiting. Plenty of parking. If the bar issue were better would give a 5 stars. Do I recommend? Yes, but skip the bar. read more

I tried Red Lobsters new "To Go" service, ordering online and driving there for quick pick up. There are two allotted parking spots next to the handicapped for the "to go" orders but you do need to go inside. When inside I was instructed to pick my order up at the bar. No problem. They had my order ready and asked for payment although I had paid already online- she said "oh yes I see that now". When I got home and opened everything I found that an "extra" side of mashed potatoes was missing. I called the location and they were very apologetic and offered to send me a $10 gift card. Good enough for me. I got the ultimate feast, which in my opinion, is a bit overpriced. The lettuce in my salad was not very good- limp and not crunchy. The meal was warm but the shrimp was a bit chewy, as if it had been sitting out for a while. The lobster tail was delicious and the crab legs were also good. Rice was a little hard. All in all the food wasn't worth the price I paid in my opinion. I did have a decently large sized order for my family and was impressed they had everything (including biscuits) except the side of mashed potatoes. read more

One of the bottom locations I have been to of this chain. Food never seems too fresh. Dining room is usually a bit dirty. The Cheddar Bay biscuits are great, of course, but not much else. The fact that you can buy a kit to make them at home from the grocery store has made any desire to go here a thing of the past... disappointing. read more

I always feel bad giving chain restaurants low ratings because the staff and owners are obv working hard and they probably can't help where they source the food.. But I gotta say the food was not good. Had the lobster and it was inedible super disappointing for spending so much money. This has been my WORST experience ever! I was hungry after an exhausting morning, I remember a commercial the night before that the unlimited shrimp was back!! so I came and sat down. Didn't bring my ID (my bad, but I definitely look over 30) so I ordered water. Anyways I order the Shrimp Linguini and hand breaded shrimp for my first plate. I then ordered 2 refills one more hand breaded and a shrimp scampi. I wasn't as hungry as I thought and asked for a small TOGO box to take the rest of my hand breaded shrimp home. (The linguini had a very sour taste so I hardly even touched it.) a GOOD waitress should have noticed that. She refused to give me a Small Togo box even though I made it clear I was just going to take the hand breaded shrimp. I've been to unlimited shrimp every single year at this location and I've always received a Togo box with my leftovers. I NEVER order an excessive amount of refills. I just don't understand the concept of not giving a box to a customer when you're just going to throw the food away anyways. (So are you really going "plastic free?") Very good concept if you want customers sitting in your restaurant for hours at a time. If I had the time that's exactly what I would have done to get hungry again and eat the rest of my plate (minus the linguini) plus order more! In the long run it's going to give you more profit if you just give a customer a small to go box!!!! I did ask another waitress who had a worse attitude then my server, I was such in shock I was refused a small box. I did ask for a manager, but as a stated above I didn't have the time to sit at your restaurant all day. I WILL NEVER RETURN! read more

Went there with my in-laws after they helped us move in to our new place. Coconut shrimp was good...especially liked the pineapple dipping sauce. Overheard a waitress tell an older couple at the table next to us that they were out of Diet Coke even as our waiter brought me a refill. Overall, though, everything just seemed kinda greasy. Had the lobster lovers dream. The rock lobster was perfect..sweet..cooked right. The Maine lobster trail was overcooked, dry and tough! The linguine was typical Red Lobster..almost no lobster and lots of tiny salad-size shrimp. Food tasted okay, except for Maine lobster tail, but quality lacked. Had the bourbon sweet potatoes as a side. Don't bother unless you like something with the texture of baby food! Drinks, salad and biscuits were very good. Service with Jody was excellent. Red Lobster needs to improve their food quality... especially for the various "feasts". Think I'll stay home for seafood. read more

Have eaten at Red Lobster in Mankato for 15 to 20 years. I stopped there 2 weeks ago it was the worst meal I have ever eaten. I ordered the admiral feast. The lobster still had the poop tube and it was raw. The crab legs were double cooked. I could cut the shell with my finger nail. I was going to complain, but the waitress was nice and I did not want to make a scene, plus I was pressed for time. Until they change cooks or whatever, I will eat Red Lobster in St Cloud. I will say that me and my family, have always had a good experience in Red Lobster in Mankato until this meal. I still left the waitress $20 dollars because, they make the experience not the cooks. read more
