My family enjoyed an excellent meal at Kavo tonight. First off, the service was very good. Our server was friendly and checked in on us frequently. I was completely happy with them. On to the food. We started off with a complimentary plate of focaccia served with a whipped butter that I was pleasantly surprised to find had a bit of lemon worked into it. Very tasty. A bruschetta with fig jam and prosciutto was shared as an appetizer. It was pretty tasty; if you like a sweeter appetizer you will enjoy this. Personally, I would have preferred the classic. The mains we had were the Chicken Piccata, Garganelli, Cacio e Pepe, and the Carbonara(We let each other sample our mains, so I was able to try each one). The portions were generous and the plates visually appealing. The Chicken Piccata was good, better than average for sure. The Cacio e Pepe was very good, and the truffle butter in it was a nice touch. The Garganelli was meaty, and a bit spicy. It gave me Italian comfort food vibes. I would order it myself if I get here again, especially on a cold Minnesota day. Now the Carbonara, that was special. The sauce was incredibly silky and rich, the generous amount of fried guanciale mixed in made it decadent. If it's your first time going here get this. I almost forgot to mention, that the restaurant itself is lovely. Do stop and check it out if you have the opportunity. read more

This was our 4th visit. We find our hour plus drive worth every minute on the road. Varied menu with lunch menu during the week. The food is delicious and the finest Italian in Minnesota. KAVO is a beautiful brand new restaurant in St. Peter. I walked in on a Saturday night without a reservation and had about a 30 minute wait, but that was perfect as I had a few things to do prior to dining! I tried the Italian Paloma and the KAVO Italian Red. I wouldn't get the cocktail again, but the red surprised me. The Butternut Squash Ravioli was so good! Everything in the ravioli worked so well together, this is a great savory dish with hints of sweetness in the roasted squash and candied walnuts. Got back to KAVO to enjoy the full menu. Ordered a Honey Bee cocktail (swapped the sazerac for mezcal) and it was delightful. For my entree I had the Butternut Squash Ravioli, it was not what I expected! My first bite I was slightly overwhelmed by sweetness but when I had a bite of the pasta with the sprouts and nuts it was a perfect balance of savory and sweet. I added blackened salmon and it was cooked perfectly. We also shared a house salad amongst the table and that was wonderful. It seemed busy for a Tuesday, but service was still good. What a fantastic Italian Eatery in St. Peter, MN! The atmosphere is fantastic and the service was spectacular! Isaiah was our server and he did an amazing job! From serving drinks and appetizers to torching our Crème Brûlée, he did an excellent job! Our food was excellent from start to finish! The Burrata was incredible for our starter, then the Cacio e Pepe was very good, and to top off the night we highly recommend the Crème Brûlée with a nightcap of Limoncello! I've been here two times and each time has been fantastic. The waiters are very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The food is amazing and made with such care, All of the flavors pair nicely with each other. The ambiance could be pretty depending on where you are sitting but overall it's classy, they have some music in background that adds to the experience. There's a wall with Italian skyline which is very pretty and adds to the vibe. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a good Italian spot in a small town. read more

Birthday party in event room in back. Vibe and service superb. Shut the door and gives you a break from the din of main dining room. (Tip: if sound is an issue for you sit in the front by the entrance. There are two tables by the windows that are more private and certainly quieter.) They even hacked a table cloth shade to prevent sun in the birthday girls eyes. (see The Bear episode "Stage"). I'm wanting to love the food but for me it was good but not great or memorable. I had chicken parm that comes with Alfredo fettuccini. Chicken was very hot (+) any was more like a breaded breast. Was not pounded out more cutlet style. The fettuccini obviously was on the plate waiting for the cutlet and was room temp. What I saw around me was the butternut squash ravioli with crispy Brussels sprouts, a beautiful pile of NY strip that I heard was excellently seasoned, and the lobster ravioli where the lobster was a split tail in the sauce and not in the ravioli filling. Looking down the table at the pizzas the thing I noticed most is that the crust had a very nice char which I like and appreciate. Tried meatball and arancini app. Both small balls. Bigger is better. Arancini wins this H2H battle. Finished off meal with cannoli, decaf coffee (they don't have decaf beans for specialty coffee) and a complimentary taste of the house made limoncello. I would go back again and I would sit at table by window/entrance, order Caesar salad, pizza, house red wine and end it with a limoncello and just soak in the vibe and good service. read more

The restaurant has been renovated nicely and we were greeted with warmth and enthusiasm. The food was overpriced and underwhelming, unfortunately. I ordered the recommended Carbonara, which was bland. I added the meatballs, which came highly praised by the host. I received three black, shriveled up meatballs on the side, for $9 extra. It would be more accurate to rate it at like a 3.5-3.75 if I want to get nit-picky, but overall it is a great option for modern Italian without having to go all the way to the Cities. The flavor profiles were on point for the appetizers and pastas. We had the calamari, which comes with a wonderful pesto aioli I would recommend getting extra of. My mother had the butternut squash ravioli, which while delicious and well-constructed, the crispy Brussels sprouts soaked up the brown butter sauce to leave the ravioli dry. And she emphasizes had arrived lukewarm. I enjoyed the Carbonara with delicious chewy guanciale in a thick unctuous sauce that had unfortunately broken. At the end of our meal our waitress offered us a tasting of the in-house limoncello, which came in just adorable little glass goblet-style cordials. They offer a reward program partnered with a few other local businesses, so we'll be looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu. read more

The restaurant is so beautiful but very loud! Our server was great! BUT the food was needing some help. One pasta bowl we ordered was undercooked so we sent it back and they brought a new order - without silverware - oops, or an apology or any offer to comp us for the delay. The other plate had very little sauce and the noodles were huge and odd shaped - that was the Bolognese w/ meatballs. The Carbonara was not the flavor of other carbonara dishes I've had and it was soaked in sauce and the meat was very fatty. I might go back and try their pizza and salad but for the cost, it might be a while. They are new and hopefully will work out some of these issues. Critique on the pork shank I had : Should have been cooked longer for easier separation from the bones. A sharp knife would have been useful. I would not order again. It has been a long time since my husband and I have gone on a real date. He suggested supper and gave me 4 choices. I chose KAVO. We loved our food, we had an appetizer, two entrees, and two desserts. I especially liked the mocktail options as I do not drink alcohol. Our waiter, Isiah, was very attentive. I think portions were acceptable for the price. We will be back again! We were sitting in a quiet area, it was a little more lively where there were a few children seated. We stopped at Kavo on our way through town. We got there at 5:30. We got water at 6 with promise of bread with our order of wine. No bread. We were told that the salad is coming and bread is in the oven. Salad was good. No bread. Waiter said it was coming. We ordered chicken fettuccini. It came about 7. Chicken was burnt. Noodles flavorless. Still no bread. We also got a Vault pizza. That was delicious, and perfect. We left at 7:30. With no bread. The building is beautiful-eclectic vibe. Service was s l o w. I can't comprehend why the waiter would lie about the bread. At the end of service he said, yes, we never had bread. So sorry. Wtf. It was our first time with intention of coming back for a celebratory dinner. Decided no on that. Recommend the Vault pizza and patience. read more

The food was bland and somehow dry, but oily at the same time. We ordered the Bolognese which was near flavorless and barely had any sauce. We also ordered the sweet potato ravioli. It had undercooked sweet potato bits, burnt brussels sprouts, absolutely no sauce and was dripping in oil. We won't be trying it again. read more

This restaurant is gorgeous & spacious & most importantly, the food/wine was amazing! Not worth the money... The sauce with my arancini was salty, there was no sauce of any kind on the carbonara it was dry and chewy with barley even any Parm. My lemoncello creme brulee was just a glob of goo. And sugar was not a hard shell but just the soupy sauce. read more
